Hannah was the server and was wonderful she gave great recommendations, was very knowledgeable of the menu and attentive. I heard the burger is one of the best in Atlanta so I had to try it and man it may be top 3. It's definitely the #1 smashburger in the city. We also tried the small portion of the Roasted Mushroom Campanelle and that dish was so dang good we forgot it didn't have meat in it. I can't believe it took me this long to finally try The Chastain. They offer free valet, you just tip, and they take Venmo which is a huge plus. I especially loved the patio setup. There are regular tables and chairs plus a firepit area with seating around it, which makes it feel really cozy. We went on a Thursday morning just for coffee and it was so crowded. Like shockingly busy for a weekday. I genuinely can't imagine what it's like on a weekend. I grabbed a table while my sister waited in line and it took her about 20 minutes to order. Once she did, we got a number and they brought everything out to us, which was nice. Overall it was a really great experience. We had dinner at The Chastain and it was excellent. The food, drinks, service, and ambiance were all great. Simply put, if you're looking for a nice night out in Atlanta, this place won't disappoint. The Chastain has been listed in the Michelin Guide since its inaugural edition in Atlanta in 2023. It also received Michelin Green Stars in 2023, 2024, and 2025. After dining here, I do think the recognition is well-deserved. The cuisine is New American, farm-to-table. Several of the ingredients come from their garden on site. The Chastain is located next to the Chastain Park Golf Course and Tennis Center, in the old Horseradish Grill space, in Buckhead. They have complimentary valet parking on site (gravel lot). I tipped using Venmo. Book reservations using OpenTable and get points. We had a 6:30 PM Friday reservation for four. By the time we arrived, the restaurant was pretty packed. In addition to the dining room and bar, they have an enclosed patio and an outdoor firepit area. The atmosphere is elevated. We ordered a bunch of dishes and shared. All of the food was fabulous, the staff were engaging and knowledgeable and the atmosphere is so lively, especially in the outdoor tent area even in the winter! This may be my new favorite local restaurant! The service and ambiance were top tier. The location is tucked away in a little community across from Chastain Park, and I felt welcome throughout my dinner. We opted to eat inside, but will definitely select the garden for the next time we dine there. We chose several dishes to share and as an indulgent carb loving gal, I gotta say that the sprout salad (Vonnie's) was the standout. I wasn't expecting it to be as delicious as it was, and now it's living rent free in my head and heart. The next highly rated dish would have to be the scallop & crab stuffed squash blossoms - phe. nom. enal. I could eat these 2 dishes all day. The roasted mushroom campanelle and the risotto were good, but I expected that to be the case. we also shared the halibut, and if you've had one halibut, you've had them all - but this was paired well and was so flaky. I wasn't expecting this level of service and quality of food from this place because I just didn't know about it. I spent over two hours eating and it felt like 30 minutes because it was such a great environment. The sourdough bread as a starter was okay, not sure it'll I would get it again. The Vonnie sprouts salad were amazing. The sprouts are sourced from a locally grown farmer that exclusively. First time back to the Chastain in several years. I went to it when it was called horseradish Grill. I must say the meal was incredible. 5 out of 5. The Ambiance, Service, food were all Michelin quality. We started with the salad homegrown from their garden, it tasted like it was harvested the same day which the waiter confirmed. we next tried the sour dough bread double Fermented which was really really good. The mushroom pasta dish that was one of the best pasta dishes I've had in a long time and finally, we had the pastrami crusted salmon, which was also top-notch. Popped in for some coffee and a bite to eat from the cafe. The bacon, egg & cheese lived up to the hype! It was savory, cheesy & delicious. The peach croissant was stuffed with a vanilla peach cream that had a punch of lime flavor. It was the best pastry I've had in a while (not because of the croissant itself, it was standard)! I usually LOVE the Chastain but I had a very frustrating experience. I come to work and always have full power on my computer. Today I happened to be low and it died on me. I looked for an outlet and couldn't find one so I asked. The lady told me there are none and the only option was to leave my computer at the bar to charge. I wasn't offer to sit there, just to charge it. I haven't visited a cafe that allows computers but has no place to charge them. I also bought coffee so I didn't feel comfortable going to another coffee shop. I would suggest having at least 3 outlets or extension cords somewhere on property for guests to charge a computer. read more

Tucked away in the affluent hills of Buckhead, you'll pull up to an open, mid-century modern style home with an expansive garden which grows herbs and vegetables used daily. Executive Chef Christopher Grossman garnered experience at the French Laundry and he pays homage through his thoughtful and meticulously executed dishes. Off the regular menu, we ordered: Beef Tallow Tater Tots ($28) made in house and scrumptious with crème fraiche, chives and Ossetra caviar Grilled Hamachi Collar ($15) topped with ginger, herbs and greens from the garden and white ponzu sauce Tasting Menu: Fettuccini Alfredo with caviar - usually not a fan of fettuccini Alfredo, but this was by far the best I tasted. Smoked Ora King Salmon with white fish chowder, roe and potato mousse - excellent quality of salmon, well balanced with the smooth and neutral ingredients. Lobster and Squid Ink Socarrat - never had anything like it and it was delicious. Grilled Granny Smith Soup as a light and refreshing pallette cleanser. Pastrami Crusted Australian Wagyu, short rib and pierogi - incredible, melted in my mouth. Sticky Toffee Pudding must've been mixed in the ginger sponge cake bc how soft and gooey it was. The sliced pickled Granny Smith apple cut through the richness giving such a sharp contrast. Dessert was served with butterfly tea. After dinner, Executive Chef Christopher Grossman gave us a tour of the kitchen where all the magic happens. Everyone should take the opportunity to walk around in the beautiful garden and get a tour, if possible. Service, food and ambience was all around Michelin stars level. I haven't tried any food so this review is just for the drinks. I had a seasonal special. The strawberry matcha. It was delicious. The strawberry syrup sweetened the drink and flavored it nicely. The outdoor area is lovely. It feels like a park in the city. Parking is a bit tricky as you just have to park and walk or valet but take advantage of being in the park and walk around with your drink while there, or enjoy the seating and walk around after, and it's worth it. One silly thing. It's a park but right in front of the restaurant there's no sidewalk so we had to walk along the street to get in. Will definitely go back and try a pastry. The butter pecan old fashioned was superb! The hoodoo you love was also delicious. Started out neal off with the beef tallow tots and the vonnie's sprouts. The sprouts were good, but the tallow tots were fire! The caviar addition is a create choice. Our only gripe was the tots were a smaller portion than we expected. However, the main course was plentiful! My wife ordered the Agnolotti pasta with Italian rabbit sausage. Chefs kiss! I ordered the Pastrami Short Rib. Also chefs kiss! Both entrees were nothing short of amazing! Finished the night with a couple of desserts (dark chocolate mousse and a sticky toffee pudding). Both of which were 10/10. TO THE RESTAURANT MANAGER AND OWNER: you're a Michelin Guide Green Star recommended restaurant. Everything about your restaurant should be practically perfect, much less from a "clean food" perspective. The drinking water served to your customers is not - it is far from it. If your water tastes like the dirty old pipes it comes out of, then you need to fix it somehow, someway. Much of Atlanta has good drinking water - it's a definite possibility. Your guests deserve better drinking water than what we were served tonight. And then, you don't even have bottled still-water, only sparkling. Ugh.... Not good! So we had no water to drink tonight, because none of the guests at my table wanted to drink the table water due to the way it tasted. With that said, service was excellent, although the kitchen was slow. My potato leek soup was not great, watery and not an appealing consistency. I've been here only for the bakery and their brunch but both times have been phenomenal. You can really tell everything is home made and full of fresh ingredients. Their coffee is brash coffee but they make lattes very well! Their pastries are incredible, make sure you stop on a Saturday when they offer the almond croissant. For brunch we ordered the French onion soup, croque madam, and avocado toast. Everything was perfect! And the service inside is like dining in a five star restaurant. The staff was very attentive. Have always really enjoyed The Chastain but the last two meals have not been up to par because of food quality, service and bar service. We were seated in a great spot in the dining room that wasn't too loud immediately on our arrival. We asked a few questions about changes in the menu and ordered three drinks along with water service. We were also told that we would need to order our entire evening at one time and they would course it appropriately. However, this was not the case. We each proceeded to order appetizers but they all came out separately and before our drinks. We asked about our drinks and they told us they were on their way. For each of the appetizers, we had to ask for serving pieces and silverware because they were not provided with the initial set up. The appetizers were very good except our favorite tater tots and caviar. The dish was totally disjointed and not plated or prepared to its normal magical taste. Once we finished our appetizers, the drinks still had not come, and we were asked if we wanted to go ahead and order the remainder of the meal. We said we'd like to wait until the drinks come, which took another 5 minutes. We then ordered a salad course for the table and entrées. Once again, when the salads were ordered, they were not served with serving pieces and the plates that were given to us were piping hot coming from the dishwasher. We explained that a salad with cheese on it would not go well with hot plates. The servers looked very frustrated and shrugged away going to get new plates. Once again when they returned, they still did not bring serving pieces. Additionally, we asked for cracked pepper and they seemed once again very put out that they would have to return to the table. I'm not sure if the disjointed nature of the service was because there were multiple servers working our table of 6 or that our party was bigger than five persons and they knew their tip would be included. Of note the restaurant was not full. A similar situation occurred with problem with salad service once before where the plate we were served was still wet coming from the dishwasher, and the salad was oozing beyond the greens because of the wet plate. The entrées were the highlight of the meal and finally came with serving pieces. Finally we ordered dessert and were told the cheese cake amazing and it certainly was not. It was not traditional cheesecake and was very tart and strong flavored. We barely ate 25% of it and when we remarked about its flavor nothing was said. This restaurant has definitely fallen from its better days and exciting opening. There is a certain lack of detail to the dishes, and the service has really dropped. However, the prices have continued to increase. I'm not sure if the Michelin mention has guaranteed them new clientele, but this patterned will certainly not lead to continued growth. Service and description of food and little touches that make a fine dining experience were all there. Atmosphere was the usual big room, crowded and loud. The marketing of the food was much better (they described every item in detail) than the actual food. Everything was plated and served beautifully but was bland and or just weird from soup to dessert. The special gluten free rolls was doughy and tasted undercooked, the carrot soup was boring, creamy but no taste of ginger or other spices, the pork chop was dry and lacked flavor of grilled onions and apples. The chef has a very "delicate" hand on spices and seasoning. The cheesecake dessert was unusual but not in a good way. Maybe they are trying too hard to be different in their recipes but feels pretentious. My martini was excellent! And while I don't question the quality of the ingredients or local produce/meat it was EXPENSIVE. No bottle of wine and one cocktail/ glass of wine each and only one appetizer ($18 soup!) and 3 desserts was over $360 including tax/gratuity. For that price I want the service AND the food to be outstanding. But I am going to try it again at lunch for the $30 burger! read more
