Absolutely the best Cuban food in our area! My wife is from Miami (Part Cuban) and even she agrees that the food is like going back home

Loved my sweet plantains too which had a good grill to them. Only things that I wasn't impressed with the yellow rice. Wouldn't recommend that or the red beans. The server was friendly enough. The bartender/ maybe manager was friendly offered us to stick around for music later in the evening. He also explained the menu choices a lot more than the server actually had. Overall everyone was happy with their selections. The papas relleno needed a sauce or flavor. But nicely cooked. My dad got a flank steak that was nicely braised when I tried it.

We started with the empanadas, which were excellent. We had one beef and one chicken. The beef was nicely seasoned and had potato's on the inside as well. For our main entrees we had the bistec de pollo with yellow rice and plantains. We also had the lechón asado with moros and plantains. The moros is the Cuban version of dirty rice and it was very delicious. The plantains were golden, soft and prepared so good. The chicken and pork were tender and good. The servers were really nice as well. Great experience.

Two sundays ago we ordered take out and the cachapas were very different from what we usually eat (we religiously eat their cachapas at least once a month!) they tasted different and were very undercooked and soft. The first bite I took had no cheese in it, so for a moment I thought they'd forgotten to put it and when lifting the cachapa with the fork it completely crumbled apart. It was like a mush. I told my husband I could not eat this (he is a very hungry man and though the quality was not what we usually expect from them, he had eaten half of his already. I, on the other hand, only had the first bite). We called and they asked us to drive back to the restaurant and bring in the cachapas for a refund, which we did. Never actually received the refund after multiple talks with them because according to them: "one was eaten halfway through, and the other one had been purposely smushed by a hand/played with." Yes, the cachapa was pretty much destroyed. Because it was so soft and undercooked it broke apart the moment I manipulated it with my fork and knife, as one does when eating food!! Also they claimed the product was the same as it always has been, yet it clearly tasted different as we know their cachapas very well, and their own cook spoke to us on the phone saying their cachapas came from an external provider and they'd recently changed the product!! So who's lying? We used to recommend them to all our friends because we support fellow Latino business and they are very close to where we live in Cary. But now I'll tell you all to try Pana's Flavors' Cachapas in Raleigh, for authentic cachapas actually made by Venezuelans!

The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and well-priced, whether you're dining in or grabbing takeout. We almost always order the ¼ white meat chicken and pair it with two sides: usually white rice, maduros (plantains), or green beans. It's simple, but it's done extremely well every time. It also feels like we aren't eating super unhealthy when we pick Alpaca. The chicken is always tender and juicy, and the portions are generous for the price. What really completes the meal, though, are the sauces. Make sure to get both the yellow sauce and the green (spicy) sauce. They take everything to another level. Affordable, consistent, and easy to keep coming back to. We're loyal customers for a reason.

The store was very cute, with a large stuffed llama near the check-out desk. The restaurant is chipotle-style. You choose a cut and amount of roast chicken. and then go down the line and pick out your sides and other goodies. For the price, you get a good portion. I got a half-chicken meal, dark meat only, with beans and French fries, as well as a chicha morada beverage. Their sauces are off to the side and self-serve, which I love. The roast chicken was delicious, so well-seasoned and tender. Honestly I did not need the sauce to eat it. The beans were smoky and I appreciate the fact that it was portioned separately to prevent the fries from getting soggy. The fries were not that fresh, and they had the skins on. I would not get these next time. The sauces were good but not mind-blowing. The green sauce in particular was sharp and salty but not flavorful. The orange sauce tasted mostly like mayo. However, again, since all the food was well-seasoned, I didn't really need the sauces. Alpaca is a great, quick, and healthy option for tasty Peruvian food. I would definitely come back for my quick fix, but I would probably skip the sauces.

The sandwich itself was okay. Was very salty and the flavor seemed off slightly but overall decent. The yuca fries were a good choice with the dipping sauce that comes with it. The space inside is spacious with plenty of seats when we went. The staff is friendly and helpful with any questions you may have. You can also order online to go. For parking, you can park on the street or deck parking. Prices were slightly higher than expected but appropriate for downtown Durham. Overall, a cool restaurant with a variety of options. Unsure if I will come back but recommend trying it if you are in the area.

Started with the pernil mallorca melt... mouthwatering pork roast, slow-cooked & fork tender, on sweet-ish mallorca bread with melted cheese and a spoonful or two of the pork juices. Excellent. Next, a Cuban sandwich. The same pork roast, this time with as slice of ham, Swiss cheese and sliced pickles, slathered with mustard on pressed mallorca bread. A great rendition of a Tampa-style Cuban but missing that Cuban bread. Also tried a trio of empanadas. The beef is a hearty mix of chunky beef, well spiced, juicy and tender. The chicken is chunks of white meat, with slivers of carrots and other vegetables. A little more bland than the beef, but still flavorful, moist and tender. Each was ensconsed in a traditional half moon pastry and fried deep, golden brown. Not at all greasy, these were crunchy, savory and delicious. Honorable mention to the s'mores empanada. The same half moon pastry, stuffed with chocolate, marshmallow and graham cracker, then deep fried. WAY better than your standard cookout s'mores; these were decadent and sweet. The perfect dessert to top off the meal. Be on the lookout for this food truck. Really good food - fresh and delicious.
