I'm from Charlotte but I was in the area working and I stumbled upon Lucky chicken. I'm a big fan of Peruvian food and they did not disappoint. The half chicken with house salad and yuca fries... Amazing! I totally recommend stopping in.

Second time that I've been here .... I gotta say that it was much better than I remembered. The first time was over 5 years and honestly I left I bit disappointed so that is the reason I never came back. The mental scars have healed so I decided to try again. I ordered the lomo saltado and the arroz chaufa special and they were both good. We tried the ceviche as well and it was also good. The papa rellena was not really that good in my opinion though. I am Peruvian and I know that Peruvian food could be amazing so there is still room for Lucky Chicken to grow. I will try again .... Not sure when but there are a couple other dishes that I would like to try. . We'll see. I'll report back.

Nice little place to visit. Service was a little on the slow side, but the food is on point. Would come back and try the other dishes on the menu.

I love Peruvian chicken! Been to several other places in the area, but this was my first time here. They have a family meal that is a whole chicken and 3 sides, and it's a LOT of food! Super fresh too! Highly recommended if you like rotisserie chicken.

Finding good Ceviche and Peruvian food in NC has been hard to find. I stumbled into lucky chicken and knew right away that this was the place!! The Ceviche was fresh and amazing. I took a whole chicken family dinner to go and will definitely be back!!!

Found out about this place thru Groupon. It's a Peruvian joint tucked away in a strip mall within the same vicinity as Bass Pro Shop. I honestly didn't have much expectations for the place but ended up quite surprised. Their menu had a wide selection of various dishes to choose from. We opted for takeout. Not knowing what would be good from their expansive menu and due to the complexity and pronunciations of the various dishes, we asked the guy taking our order for some recommendations. Based on his suggestions, we ordered an appetizer of Papas a la Huancaina and entrees of Saltado de Pollo and Tallarin Saltado de Pollo. The appetizer cost 7 bucks while the two chicken entrees cost 13 bucks each. The food had pretty good flavoring. One chicken dish was stir-fried with noodles, bell pepper, onions while the other was stir-fried with french fries, onions, tomatoes and came with rice. The portion sizes where bountiful. The appetizer we got was 4 slices of boiled potato and 2 egg halves doused with a yellow incan sauce sitting on a bed of lettuce leaf. Pretty good taste wise. You can ask for sauces too. They had a white sauce that tasted kind of like ranch and a red spicy sauce. Be careful with the red spicy sauce folks - I have a high heat tolerance and that sauce took me by surprise. Overall, it was a very enjoyable meal. We'd likely visit again if in the area. Groupon for the place makes it really worth it. So give it a shot peeps!

The food was OK. The service friendly but it took a long. Time to get the food during a late lunch. Limo Saltado was plentiful with a nice runny egg but there wasn't much taste. Perhaps it should be more savory. The Empanada was OK but there was more potato filling than chicken. I heard they are well know for ceviche but did not try it.

A small restaurant with big flavors. It was a rainy Sunday when I found this gem. If you want to try something new and colorful then check out this place.

The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and well-priced, whether you're dining in or grabbing takeout. We almost always order the ¼ white meat chicken and pair it with two sides: usually white rice, maduros (plantains), or green beans. It's simple, but it's done extremely well every time. It also feels like we aren't eating super unhealthy when we pick Alpaca. The chicken is always tender and juicy, and the portions are generous for the price. What really completes the meal, though, are the sauces. Make sure to get both the yellow sauce and the green (spicy) sauce. They take everything to another level. Affordable, consistent, and easy to keep coming back to. We're loyal customers for a reason.

The store was very cute, with a large stuffed llama near the check-out desk. The restaurant is chipotle-style. You choose a cut and amount of roast chicken. and then go down the line and pick out your sides and other goodies. For the price, you get a good portion. I got a half-chicken meal, dark meat only, with beans and French fries, as well as a chicha morada beverage. Their sauces are off to the side and self-serve, which I love. The roast chicken was delicious, so well-seasoned and tender. Honestly I did not need the sauce to eat it. The beans were smoky and I appreciate the fact that it was portioned separately to prevent the fries from getting soggy. The fries were not that fresh, and they had the skins on. I would not get these next time. The sauces were good but not mind-blowing. The green sauce in particular was sharp and salty but not flavorful. The orange sauce tasted mostly like mayo. However, again, since all the food was well-seasoned, I didn't really need the sauces. Alpaca is a great, quick, and healthy option for tasty Peruvian food. I would definitely come back for my quick fix, but I would probably skip the sauces.

I am Peruvian and I've eaten at the Mi Peru restaurant in Durham a few times and I always liked it, it was too far for me though. Once I found out another Mi Peru opened closer I had to try it. For starters the strip mall where it is located is not the nicest location. The restaurant itself feels a bit old and not very clean. I was about to leave but I decided to take a chance. We ordered a few dishes to share: ceviche, chicharron de pescado, arroz chaufa, aji de gallina and seco de res. And even desserts : Alfajor, tres leches and crema volteada. Food overall wasn't bad, I actually liked it, it wasn't amazing but not bad at all. The service on the other hand was terrible, there was a young guy and a young girl who had no idea how to wait tables, we were missing silverware, we had to ask for plates and glasses, .... That duo was a mess. They seemed too occupied flirting with each other than caring for the 2 tables that were occupied. Anyhow, when we got to bill I noticed that an 18% tip was mandatory !! 18 % for the terrible service I had received, that was really unfair. I paid over $180 for 5 adults and 2 kids and terrible service. Up until that point I was determined to leave and just give this place 3 stars . But then I decided to go to the bathroom and on my way to the bathroom there was a cockroach in the hallway, that was disgusting so I moved quickly into the bathroom. Inside the bathroom under the sink there was another cockroach !!! I almost threw up wondering how many cockroaches are probably running around in the kitchen!!! It is sad for me to post this as a Peruvian but I care more about the safety of the people and the reputation of the Peruvian food. My advice to the owners of Mi Peru.( the original ) which I respect. Don't destroy your brand, close the restaurant and fumigate it completely, then remodel it, clean it, hire better waiters and then reopen. Or pick a nicer location if possible. I am not coming back and will advise everyone I know not to go either.

The workers seemed slightly slower than the other location I have been to. No biggie. Finally, when it was my turn to order, the guy motioned to me and said something (I couldn't understand him, but it was obvious he wanted me to place my order) so I started my order and then he mid-sentence of me saying the order, he looked down at the monitor and said "one minute" as an online order came in and he started to proceed to make THAT order as I stood there waiting to finish my order. I am not thinking the world should revolve around me at all, but I have also learned that in customer service the person in front of you should be the priority. So finally, I placed my order and moved on through to the cashier. She had ZERO smile and ZERO eye contact. I pride myself on being a cheerful, polite person who also tries to give a genuine smile. She seemed to be tired and definitely didn't want to be there. I had to WAIT to pay bc she was turned waiting for something. No explanation like, "I'll be able to get your payment in just a second" or anything of the sort. The food was delicious, nonetheless. The lighting at night inside is a little too much on the cool side. We decided to take our order to go. Will we be back? yes, but to the Spring Forest Road location instead. the staff is friendlier and way faster!
