Chimney Rock Inn Flemington - Buffalo Shrimp. Delicious

Or a buffet that no longer buffets. But pizza is a big part of their menu and a lot of people order it. I can tell you, from sight alone... I wouldn't call it pizza. It's cheese, toppings, and an extremely flat crust that I can only imagine crunches to smithereens. So I went very much with not pizza. Fortunately, the menu goes many other directions. I got a hot chicken sandwich with Cajun fries, basically regular fries with a little seasoning sprinkled on (not baked in). Took a little while to get to us, but once it did, I was impressed with the spice level. This is not for the faint of tongue. The fries were perfectly cooked, but I would say just get plain fries if that's your vibe. I could have upgraded to onion rings or similar, wasn't feeling quite hungry enough for that venture. Verdict: I don't know. It's not a diner. It's not a pizzeria. Definitely seemed kid-friendly. I think my date liked this place more than I did. So again, I'll go with the balance and stick 4 stars on the wall. Could return, not sure what else in Flemington might attract (seems fairly restaurant-barren).

Don't be fooled by the curb appeal. I'm not saying it's hideous or anything, it's just not focused on aesthetics. Fortunately it IS focused on great service and food. The London broil omg so good, they've got a brisket garlic bread kind of sandwich which is a must-try, they've fish and chips as others have said is fantastic, I've had the Cordon Blue and it was very good, better than it had any right to be, and the Oreo fudge ice cream pie PRAISE THE LORD it's a 10/10 and if you're lucky enough to get the Baileys Oreo pie you're in for a real treat. All the food I've tried here is great, and I'm VERY local, so it makes coming back to try something new easy. That means I'll have tried everything on this menu eventually. I'll be updating this review as I make progress trying new things. Looking forward to it!

Something about the outside gives off the impression of a "dive bar". Inside, it's a standard gastropub. We both started off with the French onion soup, which was very good and personally in my top 3 (Dunellen Hotel and The Rail also are in my top 3). For dinner, my wife had the penne and sausage. She enjoyed it and it was enough food for her to bring home leftovers for dinner the following night. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with BBQ sauce, with onion rings on the side. Service was average/good. We didn't have to wait to be seated or get our drinks. There wasn't anything where they could've gone above and beyond. We wouldn't mind returning in the future.

This place had some high hopes for me and then it dropped the ball…read more We were there on Saturday night. July 5th, 2025. The place was quiet when we got there. It was a late dinner. Probably about 8 or so. The ambience was a cool bar and grill with two pool tables and ample seating. I will just break it down by pros and cons. Pros. Quick seating, decent menu, the house salad I got (sadly not photographed) was a healthy size. Good amount of wings for what it was. Cons. Waitress immediately forgot my fiancées order and had to come back to ask it again (which would be fine if for one other thing). All food came out in the weirdest order. First came my chicken wings then her soup. Then her carb cake appetizer and then, finally my house salad that I had to call her over to remind her of. Overall, food was ok but nothing wowed. The size of the house salad was the most impressive thing. Crab cake was ok but a lot of bread, salad was ok but the thousand island dressing was not good. The French onion soup was ok but it wasn't seasoned well. And the wings were good but small and could have used more sauce. The biggest complaint is the bill. It seems like they charged us for tax on each item even before adding the tax. 6.23 for French onion? 12.46 for one crab cake? BEFORE TAX????? Sorry these were not the prices in the menu when we ordered. I would never go back here for that shady practice alone. This is a one and done.
