Waited over an hour for our food (the same amount of people sat next to us after we sat down and they received their meals within 20 minutes. Our meals were simple. Two wraps, a hot BLT and buffalo chicken sliders. None of them were even average. BLT was cold, sliders looked like something I could make in my air frier using frozen buffalo chicken and the wraps were just ok. No idea why it took an hour. Waitress had to text her boss to see if she could comp us. I feel bad for her. She probably has to deal with this all the time and doesn't get any freedom to try and make her customers happy when things go sideways.

For every visit where I've checked in here over the past five years, I've probably forgot to on a 1:1 ratio. I'm somewhere in the ballpark of 40 check ins here, which should give you an idea as to how we feel about DAT. Not a whole lot we haven't seen here over that time. Masks, menu changes, trivia night, music trivia night, brunch, lunch, etc. There are three keys that run throughout. 1. Hands on owner. Nate is very present in some capacity almost every time we're here. Nothing he won't do from seating, bussing, food running to turning the Yankees on a nearby TV for a fellow fan :) 2. The randomness of the music being played. Anything from 60's to 90's rock, occasional R&B, maybe some disco or my favorite from last Wednesday at lunch, Yacht Rock. Nothing goes down smoother than hard cider with grilled cheese and goulash and a side of the Admiral himself, Michael McDonald. Fantastic vibe and hang here every time. 3. The consistency of the menu. The short rib goulash and any of the soup renderings are fantastic. Past that, house made tots, wings, burgers, crab cakes, beef on Weck, links, perogies. It's all so damn good, even though I think the secret weapon is the seafood. Anything done here with crab, shrimp or the seasonal scallop specials are guaranteed winners. I guess to keep 'em honest, if there's one small ding I could bring up it's the pricing. Admittedly, some of the menu offerings are on the higher end of the spectrum but then again, the quality is there and so is the consistency. You get what you pay for. It's a 40-45 minute each way hike to come here and as long as they keep doing what they've been doing here since the beginning, in the immortal words of the prophet Randy Newman: "We're gonna ride it till we just can't ride it no more."

Crossroads consistently has live music on Friday and Saturday nights, which is something we really enjoy. We almost always sit at the bar. Sometimes you're having a conversation and realize you've been smiling and nodding for the last five minutes because you have absolutely no idea what the other person just said. The bar staff is generally friendly and welcoming. Most days, anyway. But we're all human, and sometimes you can tell someone is having one of those days where friendliness apparently isn't on the menu. We get it -- we've all been there. The food has always been good for us. One thing we've noticed occasionally, though, is that what shows up on the plate doesn't always seem to include everything listed in the description. Every once in a while, we'll look at the food and think, "Wasn't there supposed to be bacon on this?" or "Did the sauce take the night off?" Nothing major, but if it's listed in the description, we'd like to see it make an appearance. The mixed drinks can also be a little weak at times. And by "a little weak," I mean sometimes you start wondering if the bartender and the drink had a disagreement before it reached the table. Thankfully, they have the staple draft beers to fall back on. The specialty draft selection could use a little work, though. Overall, we keep coming back, and that probably says more than anything else. Between the food specials, live music, familiar faces, and relaxed bar atmosphere, Crossroads has become one of those places we enjoy stopping into. It's not perfect, but then again, neither are we -- and we've been coming back for years, so they must be doing something right.

It wasn't until almost last day of our visit that we figured out the light switch (next to the door) needs to be up for that outlet to work. This room sits above the bar and dining area so we could hear the noises and music below. Since it is close to the street, the morning traffic noise from cars and large trucks is clearly heard.
