This is a review of one particular sandwich, namely their veggie burger (which I got with sweet potato fries). So all of Hat Creek's meat options are delicious, and it turns out that... their veggie burger is as well! The patty is a black bean and quinoa patty with the normal burger fixings of lettuce, tomato, onion, and mustard. It doesn't try to match the flavor of a beef or turkey burger, but rather lets the beans and quinoa do the incredibly tasty work of making it good. This does mean that the patty doesn't hold the texture quite as well as a beef patty does... but who cares, since it's *delicious.* The sweet potato fries were also lovely, crisp, and just sweet enough that they went perfectly with the burger. Service was prompt and friendly and the only nitpick is that they forgot to include ketchup, but given how good the fries were on their own, that's *fine.* All told, wonderful food and a great vegetarian option.. read more

When Mr R got his diagnosis and I contacted a few of his favorite local places about a couple ingredients, Hat Creek was the fastest and friendliest reply I got which greatly endears them to me. 4pm on a weekday we hit their drive through for his black bean/quinoa burger, my pretzel jack, a soda, and some sweet potato fries to share. That combo and a sandwich was under $30 after tax, which felt great for the indulgent, tasty meal that we enjoyed. Needed a recovery nap, it was great. Single error was not including the ketchup he requested, which I share only in the interest of transparency. I mean, in my house ketchup is to make mid to poor fries tolerable and Hat Creek's sweet potato fries are great. I definitely recommend this burger joint!! Their burgers were OUTSTANDING!!! They legitimately taste like a homemade burger and the fries, WOW are they seasoned perfectly!!! Both my daughter and I are super picky when it comes to nuggets and I can't lie and say that I was less than impressed. I also enjoyed that it had a playground that was well thought out. My only bone of contention is the playground is outside and it was more than a little tepid. In addition the customer service here is bar none! read more

First time ever, and really enjoyed the food! I had a small burger w/fries and drink combo. Reminded me of an old fashion homemade burger! You order at the counter and the staff brings your order to you. Not much inside seating... looks like the main focus is to sit outside under a covered patio while the kids play on a playground so perfect for families. I don't get the hype personally! Spent $46 bucks for 3 people for cold fries, a sub burger, and their sauces weren't anything special kinda just variations of thousand island. Will it feed you? Yes. Is it like a dressed up Burger King? Also yes: personally I felt the burger lacked flavor and would've preferred Burger King. We've visited Hat Creek Burger three times in the past eight days for quick lunches and one late night dinner. We love a fast food restaurant has finally gone after the gluten free, keto, celiac market. Their fryers are dedicated gluten free fryers, chicken nuggets, fries, tots, pickles and more. All of the burgers have optional gluten free buns or can be served in a lettuce wrap or bowl. No gluten free desserts and while they're clearly gluten conscious they don't not offer a gluten free beer or cider despite having eight taps and variety of canned alcoholic beverages. Guessing their upper management only has a partial clue about the GF market they're trying to tap into. Maybe they'll figure it out add some desserts AND some GF beer or cider. Burgers were good, fries both regular and sweet potato were great. Fresh ice tea. Good to go. Downloaded their app and got a free cheeseburger. Plenty of seating able to accommodate large groups, not noisy and fast friendly service. We will be back. Burger party was too oily and bun were falling apart due to staleness. Fries were not crispy. The patio seating and play area is really nice for kids and that was one of reasons that we came here. The playground with turf was AMAZING! And it was relaxing to eat and let the kids play. However, since we had burgers for lunch on our way up to New Braunfels, we chose the buffalo chicken nuggets. Ladies and Gentlemen I would like to introduce you to nuggets central. Of all the popular places to get nuggets, including Chick-fil... Hat Creek has them all beat. These babes are fresh made nuggets cut from the finest and firmest of voluptuousness. At first glance I was shocked at the size and at first bite I was overwhelmed by juicy and tender nuggets of breast. I must emphasize that these are not those pre-processed crazy shaped fast food nuggets. These are the real deal. They have regular flavor as well as buffalo and both are absolutely fantastic. Let's also not miss the fact that this place is not exclusive to only nuggets. They very well do have an extremely tasty burger that is certainly a must order. I make this my number one stopping spot when visiting San Marcos. After 3 visits I've now learned they have a couple of these also in Houstons for which I'm certainly going to sniff out the closest location to me to visit on the regular. Passed this place several times while in town this week and after reviewing their Yelp reviews decided to give them a try. We arrived about 10 minutes before opening and they went ahead and let people in and explained they weren't quite ready to take orders and totally understood. Nice that they allowed people to come in out of the heat. Their burgers are good and hearty. I opted to have mine wrapped in lettuce. We decided to try the loaded tater tots. We hit up the outlets on the way back to Houston and spending all that money worked up an appetite. I checked my trusty Yelp app and there were not too many options to dine-in in the immediate area. I would think they classify as a fast food establishment, but their service and food is above that in my opinion. I ordered a sombrero burger which is double patties with pepper jack, jalapeños and a Serrano sauce. You have an option for sides and I went with fries. This burger was outstanding. It was a hefty burger and I could barely finish it. The fries were seasoned with their spice blend and they were really good. I tried a bite of the chicken sandwich and it was so so good. It might have to be brought into the chicken sandwich debate! The tots were great as well. They have a few sauces to pick from, which are copy cats of some other popular chicken spots, but they were good too. We were so glad when one popped up close to home because this one was good, clean and our kids had a blast on the playground. Now we have one in Fulshear closer to home, but we were in SM today so came here. Staff is clueless, forgetful and filthy. The play area and patio is covered in trash because not only to the patrons behave like animals, the staff won't pick up. There was a hair in my paleo burger bowl. I had about 6 sweet potatoes in my bowl, which is pitiful and not the norm. The iced tea and water here both taste of potting soil for some reason. Worse than anything is how filthy this place is. The condiments area was absolutely disgusting and no one cleans it and everyone ignores it. This is how all great marketing firms HOOK a sucker and REEL him in. "A sucker? Is it really that bad?" you ask. No, not at all. It's what you should expect from fast food, but somehow, that was a little extra disappointing from the place I had built up as an oasis in this Texas stretch of food-desert landscape. The Little Hat Cheeseburger was fine, if not a bit dry and cold. The loaded tater tots, an entire large-size styrofoam container's worth, were fine, if not a bit lackluster with burnt pieces of bacon strewn about. No one cheered over their milkshakes.
