I have come to conclude that a wonderful experience at a dining establishment is not just the food but the service and ambiance. I "guess" that the first clue should have been the fact that Yelp asks us to opine upon all 3 dimensions of our restaurant experience through this tridimensional lens so I will present my synopsis of this restaurant experience from that perspective but not in the order asked hence: Service which is really a threefold dimension which is counter-service and at this particular restaurant on this evening was quite efficient. Well matched was the food brought to our table after placing our counter order which was equally efficient. Most importantly in this case was the bussing of tables which leave an impression of orderliness in an environment which was filled with children running back and forth between the playground and a mouthful of French Fries captured at the table. which brings me to ambiance. I can't speak to all Hat Creek Burger locations however the Fulshear location has equipment in good repair that entertains 3 to possibly as much as 10 year olds. I noted that even those who are critical about the food mention this aspect of ambiance in a complimentary fashion. Lastly, food which is well priced in sufficient quantity and frankly given the service and ambiance for children quite a good deal. Would I recommend Hat Creek? If you have children in the age range I have mentioned and want a fair serving of fast food efficiently served I would highly recommend it. read more

Paid $34 for 2 combos. They were good, but wouldn't go out of my way. #1 combo - pretzel jack. Bf got tots (you can choose sweet potato fries, regular fries, or tots). He liked his food. #2 combo - the little hat. I chose sweet potato fries, added pepperjack ($1.29), and upgraded to a regular cookies n cream shake ($2.50). All were good. Playground is good for kids, but during lunch time, it gets too hectic. Kids literally piling up on eachother in the slide, climbing on top of the slide... the slide is a closed curvy tunnel so you have no idea if anyone is climbing up the slide. However its not slippery at all so you can go down pretty slowly. Kids with no shoes, snotty noses, rashes. I had to be cautious with my 2 year old so she wouldn't get ran over. My friend's 1 year old got knocked over by a boy who ran straight into him. The crowd kind of died out around 115-130pm. The men's bathroom changing table was too dirty to use so we ended up changing her diaper in our car. read more

1,000+ stars for the staff!! They're all the nicest, hard working people I've seen!! The restaurant is clean, and they're always making sure of it! Burger was good, (we added cheese to our burgers), reminds me of Freddie's Frozen Custards & Steakburgers. We had a few of the Loaded Fries. We just didn't think they were very good. They were dry, with dried up, clumpy cheese, and hard bacon chunks. It's a pretty cool place, for adults and children! There are two types of families in this area: Hat Creek families and Texas Borders families. Hat Creek Families: eat at Hat Creek, pay $60+ for a family of four to eat tiny burgers and fries, like to stand around waiting their turn for drinks, silverware and condiments, and they like to shuffle to and fro to get out the patio door and to their table. They also stand on the sidelines of the squishy grounded, pristine playground, under the string lights and intervene when the playing gets too rough. Texas Borders Families: eat at Texas Borders, pay $60 for a full menu of food WITH an appetizer and a frozen drink, control the juke box and play real music, and stay comfortably in their booths while food is brought to them. They also stay engaged in their adult conversations, as their kids play on the aging playground with a regular turf floor, and let the kids hash out their arguments. There's nothing wrong with either family; Just different values in a dining experience. I have given Hat Creek several tries. Each time, it has been absolute chaos. The line to order is long and slow, the double burger equates to a Whataburger Jr. Burger, and I DREAD having to get a refill on drinks or condiments, because I'll have to bob and weave the whole way there, and then wait my turn behind yet another line. The recent add of the queso and the cobb salad, when we came tonight for my son's football team gathering, made the menu better. Still, as a family of 4, we still spent over $65. That's absurd. I'll stick to TX Borders. PS- the only upside of Hat Creek is that we can leave and head across the parking lot to Bahama Bucks. read more

I frequently order from Hat Creek Burger in Fulshear, and my family and I love the quality of the food. The burgers are always delicious, the tots perfectly crispy, and the ingredients fresh. The staff is also incredibly friendly, and the prices are reasonable. Tonight, I placed an order for delivery through GrubHub via Yelp. While tracking the delivery, I noticed that it suddenly showed as "delivered" 20 minutes before the actual ETA. I checked outside but didn't find my meal. I called Hat Creek, and the manager promptly checked the orders, confirming that GrubHub had picked it up. Without hesitation, the manager offered to remake my entire order at no extra cost, even though the restaurant was closing in just 20 minutes. The manager truly saved the day! Hat Creek is a favorite of ours. The staff is always friendly and the food is great. The loaded tots are always good, especially when the cheese is melted just right. My go to burger is the Sombrero (double burger with pepper jack cheese, jalapeños and grilled onions). The yellow bird sauce on that sandwich is amazing (found out they have it in little packets if you want extra!). Only reason I didn't include a photo in this review is I tried the Sombrero with chicken...wouldn't recommend. The outdoor seating is the way to go. For parents with kids, there is a playground on turf to let the little ones exert some energy. Hat Creek isn't half bad. Walking in, I never suspected they serve breakfast, but we were a bit late to savor some pancakes. Instead, we were pleasantly surprised that not only do they have craft beer on draft, it's half off on Thursdays! So, the boyfriend tucked into an El Jefe for a mere $3. He wasn't too hungry, so he got the chicken bites with fries. We shared a fried pickle, while I ordered the jalapeño-onion burger with some tots. Willie, our order taker, has a very warm and welcoming personality, by the way. He was very knowledgeable and made me smile. He genuinely wants everyone to have a good time on his watch. The food came out in decent time, and it was all pretty good. Our favorite was definitely the fried pickles. The burger, I'd say, rivals Five Guys and Mighty Fine. If I were a mama, I would be ecstatic to take my kiddos here so they can play while I grub on some fried pickles and a beer. But otherwise, the whole experience doesn't exactly knock my socks off or have me particularly excited to come back. Living in cross creek, hat creek (HC) is in our back yard. HC had some bomb a** burgers and was a great option for a take home burger that had good flavor and was consistently tasty.... it has probably been 3-4 months since last coming here, what was a 7-8/10 burger place is now 2/10. They changed their bread/bun and it reminds me of a thick stale wonder bun, the meat was slightly off, and my (what used to be) "sombrero" burger had a square piece of cheese that was unmelted like I'd find on a McDonald's 1/4 pounder. 1. I was told that they use the same baker but have changed the bread, but it was years ago... it hasn't been years. The bread use to be slightly sweet. Thinner, and was always warm....and slightly greasy (not anymore... Thick and Stale. 2. The cheese on the hamburgers were always well melted and it made for a very cohesive burger... today, not so much. Overall, this is very very disappointing, I will not be returning and will no longer rave to neighbors about their burgers. This has to be one of the cleanest places i've eaten at! Spotless, and they have hand sanitizer on every table. I read another review about this being "upscale fast food", and I'd agree with that. I don't eat 'fast food' so i assumed it was just fast, but it was actually pretty good. I had sweet potato fries and they were VERY good. Playground looks awesome if i was five years old again. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and outdoors is tented on three sides with a heater. They also have TVs with sports on outside. I've watched countless cars get in drive though come and leave with food before mine was even started. Asked management about it and they gave me a half a** excuse about covid and dinner rush. I asked why there was 4 people working the drive through line and 1 for dine in. My husband loves, loves this place and would probably rate it higher than I would. We've been here at least six times now, for breakfast at least twice, for lunch most of the time, and only once for dinner. We have never ordered through their drive thru before, so I cannot comment on that experience. Our main draw here is definitely the play area outdoors. It is made of study wood atop nice, cushiony turf grass that is very soft to the touch. The area can be played by kids as young as two (maybe a little younger if they're better with stairs..or just stick to the play kitchen area) and upwards of ten year olds. The space is wide enough to accommodate a lot of kids playing at once and there are lawn chairs for parents to sit and watch the kids up close or they can sit on the open patio at tables to watch and eat for slightly further away. The patio has covers to block out the wind/rain and fans to circulate air. The playscape itself has one slide and four ways to climb up (ramp, stairs, ladder type thing and one other climber for older kids). The inside of the place is small, maybe five or six tables for parties of fourish. It is very warm inside the times we went and have opted to sit outside in wishes of wind or under a fan. You order right when you enter the restaurant, a la cart, and they give you a buzzer. Drinks are off to one side and you are given a plastic cup with their name and logo on it to drink from, for sodas or water, which is much nicer than foam cups. Once your buzzer, goes off, you come to the counter to pick up your food. Sometimes the will bring your food out to you, sometimes they don't. Everything is pretty pricey and the portions are small, but the food is decent. Their breakfast is ok. I would rather come for a lunch of burgers and sweet potato fries. Their chicken tenders have a lot of slices coating it, which is yummy, but too much flavor for my toddler who refused it, calling it spicy. We get him grilled cheese now. read more

I really wish I would have left a review when we were enjoying Hat Creek because this one is going to be less than stellar. We came here the first time thanksgiving time 2019 (day before) after a busy day of prepping and letting the kids play while we had great food was priceless for us. We got here at least once a month and to be honest, this last visit was the last straw for the fact that we won't return. They were completely out of veggie burgers and then we waited over 20 minutes to get our food, which is much different from how it used to be. We spent a good 20% more than usual as well so not only have the prices increased, but the quality has gone way down. We normally spend $38 and today our total was almost $55. I know the cost of beef has gone up, but goodness, this much of an increase, slow service, out of food and just overall mediocre food was a big leap and not in the right direction. As much as we love letting the kids play, it seems maybe this place is struggling and whether it's the COVID issues and getting the right employees or the increase in costs of running this place, it isn't somewhere we enjoy going anymore sadly. read more

They have beer on tap, but the glass is made of plastic and small in size for a nice beer. Will I come back again? The service is phenomenal, the playground is perfect for kids of all ages, and the food is great! From breakfast tacos, to keto options, to a yummy burger..you can't go wrong. First time at a Hat Creek Burger Co. That being said I just told the guy at the counter to order be whatever he would have. I received the "Big Hat" with cheese. Which is a double 1/4 pounder. The presentation was done nicely. It was probably to ONLY burger I ever had that was similar to the picture. The veggies on the burger were very fresh. Good crunch and flavor from the lettuce onion pickle tomato. The bun was surprisingly firm. Almost dense. The burger was cooked VERY well done. I mean the inside of the burger was grey. The burger had yellow mustard on it which was rather overpowering. The fries were okay. Seemed a bit under served in terms of quantity but maybe that's just the ration. Overall the burger is okay. It's simple. Nothing really to blow you away. Would I go back. Probably but the $13 price tag for small portions and a heavily overcooked burger.... not very often would I return. read more

5 freaking stars FOREVER!!! When we heard about Hat Creek coming today Fulshear, we were PUMPED! Hat Creek is like a step above all fast food burgers... there I said it. I'm a born and raised Texan, and I can admit their burgers are BETTER than Whataburger! There are so many things to rave about Hat Creek. The customer service is 11/10! Every employee is so kind and goes above and beyond to ensure your food and experience is A1! I even saw an employee helping wash kids's hands outside by the playground. It's not like regular fast food (where you order, they give you your food, and then it's on to the next)... they have employees who walk around and see if you need anything (napkins, sauces, etc.), they all have smiling faces, and they make it such a HAPPY place to be! The restaurant itself is a great spot for families and kids with lots of outdoor seating and the outdoor playground. YES parents, they even have beer and wine so you can relax while your children let out their energy ;) As far as food goes, everything is delicious! Shakes, burgers, even their salads. I can't say enough good things about this place!! I threw my son's 4th birthday here for a "pajama party" with breakfast at 9am. Their breakfast is excellent- my favorite spot for pancakes! Service was even better. Jarvis and Jeff helped us and we're so friendly. It was last November so it was a little chilly. The heaters were already on outside when we got there. They had two large tables reserved for us. Playground was clean. Luckily, no other parties were there during that time so we had the whole place to ourself. We've never been here before and thought we'd give it a try. We were greeted warmly and the cashier was patient with us while we decided what to order. Our burgers were hot, delicious and made exactly to order. It was a pleasant surprise to be able to get sweet potato fries and tater tots as options. The grasshopper shake and dirt worm shakes were a great end to our meal. CDC guidelines are being followed and the staff regularly clean the tables. We'd been to a Hat Creek store in San Antonio several times and always thought the food was decent. Tonight, 5 adults and 4 kids ordered over $100.00 worth of burgers, a paelo burger and a chicken sandwich at the Fulshear store. We were told the food would take 30 minutes (and we appreciated the honesty). At least we knew it would be freshly cooked. The food finally came out and was delivered to our table, and this is what irritated me the most. 8 burgers/sandwiches were delivered on a tray along with several bags of fries, but nothing was marked. They only have a few different versions of a hamburger, you'd think they'd have a way to identify what's in each wrapper with some sort of sticker or something. So here we are, opening and handling everyone's food to figure out who's was who's. I don't know, maybe I'm making it more than it was but I think we'd have had a better experience if the wrappers were marked. Food was decent, hamburgers are good, fries were acceptable. The paelo burger, however was a real waste of money. We'll come back if we have a smaller party next time. read more

Stopped here with our two Kinder age kids for lunch and so they could play. Originally was going to go to TEXAS Borders, but their play structure is very open concept and it was 100 degrees outside. So we decided to try Hat Creek based off the photos. While their play area isn't covered, the structure and slide itself are mostly covered by design (enclosed slide, enclosed playhouse). They had a blast. Their outdoor space with picnic tables was great and the fans even gave it a nice breeze. The restaurant was very clean, the food was good and reasonably priced. Will definitely be back. We had the Original Hat, fries, tots, Hat Dog, fried pickles, and chicken nuggets. The fry sauce is soooo good. Plus a beer for hubby, Rose for me, and strawberry lemonade for the kids (with free refills on the lemonade). read more
