I highly recommend this dentist. First the reception staff were able to squeeze me in when other offices had a 3 week wait. I was in pain and they accommodated me. The office is clean and efficient. He numbed me and actually waited for it to kick in b4 getting to work. My procedure was pain free. A gentle touch and reassurance goes a long way. Home now resting and I am so grateful for a successful procedure and a kind and caring staff when I was nervous and frightened. read more

Our daughter recently had four teeth extracted as ordered by her orthodontist. We chose to go with Hasegawa because we have visited his office in the past and we're very pleased. We are happy to report that his office again, provided exceptional service. From the front desk staff, to the dental hygienist to Dr. Hasegawa himself, 5 stars all the way through. The cherry on top of it all, was a gift from Doc and the staff, via an envelope from the tooth fairy, for our daughters pillow that night. So sweet. My mom was a recent patient and was so happy with the care and consideration she received. It started with the receptionist calling to confirm the appointment and letting her know it's cold in the office and that she should bring a blanket and dress warmly. She said they have some but because of COVID it would be better to bring her own. My son was referred to Dr. Hasegawa because of an infected tooth that needed to removed ASAP. We were able to get in on the same day. My son (age 5) has had a bit of a traumatic experience at dentists office before and he was scared. Dr. Hasegawa was kind, yet firm. Instead of treating him like a toddler he gave Kai choices and told him the benefits of behaving versus the consequences of not behaving. As a parent, I felt this was very valuable in involving the child and inviting them to make decisions for themselves. The extraction went smoothly and when my son asked if he could keep the tooth for the Tooth Fairy, Dr. Hasegawa obliged. After reading these reviews, I concur with "rude" and "insensitive" office staff- and would also add "incompetent." After being referred by an endodontist, needing an emergency extraction with a pain level of 8 out of 10, and on major pain meds, I had to book an appt. more than 1 month out because I needed IV sedation (instead of just nitrous and numbing). I accepted this because the doctor was highly recommended, and asked to be put on a waitlist for cancellation. Two weeks before my appt., the office staff called-- not to give me an appointment for a cancellation, but because someone in their office had messed up the dates of my appointment and they needed to change my date!!! Without taking any responsibility for their mistake, they told me I had to change my dates. Because of work and not being able to drive after sedation, I had to make a lot of arrangements for this surgery -- and now they would have to change. I decided instead to cancel and go elsewhere. Dr. Hasegawa, you may be an amazing doctor, but I will never know it because I cannot deal with your staff. They are not serving you well. read more

Rude and insensitive office staff. Having received a referral due to necessity for an extraction and implant due to decay and resulting tootache I was unable to get a timely appointment. The receptionist was rude and insensitive. I would not bother with this office due to the way I was treated. Their are other dental surgeons available in Central Maui. read more

Not only is he a skilled dentist ---he's a kind and considerate human being. I've been to several dentists in Los Angeles and San Francisco and I've never had a more pleasant experience than the one I had with Doctor Hasegawa. He even called me personally to talk about pulling a stubborn baby tooth for my son as well. He made me feel very comfortable. I think that is top rate service. Dr. Hasegawa and Staff are awesome. I had an infected tooth base because of a cracked root, and the tooth needed to come out. I recently had a full knee replacement, as well as having mitral valve prolapse. I was very concerned about infection spreading due to my recent surgery and MVP. Even though Dr. Hasegawa was fully booked till the end of the month, Sheryl listened to my concerns and went out of her way to fit me into the schedule within two days, as well as going over a lot of information related to my problem and calling another dentist to get another round of antibiotics filled. The rest of the staff made clear to me the costs involved. Dr. Hasegawa normally has a consult in these cases to go over the details and choices on bone grafting. He professionally went over the info while I was in the chair getting set up to take the tooth out. And even though they squeezed me in, he apologized to me for having to share his time with another patient (which was his scheduled appointment) Later in the day he called to check on me. It was all an unexpected surgery and cost, but I really appreciate the professional and courteous way it was all handled. It's not often these days you receive this kind of customer service. They were able to get me in for an extraction within 24 hours. Dr. Hasagawa was extremely conscious of my pain level and adjusted mid-extraction so that I felt NO PAIN. Also they were prepared for my possibly having bleeding issues (thankfully it was unnecessary). The only negative is that the office staff made me feel very rushed. I arrived 15 min early as suggested to fill out paperwork. I no more than got the forms and gave my ID to be photocopied when they came to take me back. I ended up filling out the forms in the dental chair and they even had to turn away the doctor who assumed I was ready since I was in the room. The upside of all the rush is that it took much less than the hour they had told me. I arrived at 10:45 for an 11:00 appointment and was finished by 11:23! I would recommend Dr. Hasagawa for his caring and attention (the aftercare phone call was very appreciated). read more
