That is exactly what I have found in all the professionals who work at Dr. Melanie Vallejos' dental offices. For the past 19 years, I have seen Nora for my dental hygiene and periodic cleanings. Nora is THE BEST. She is delightful to know as a person and she takes great care of my teeth. She really knows her stuff and always does a thorough job cleaning my teeth and letting me know how I can improve my dental health. Because Nora does such a great job taking care of my cleanings, I rarely need to have cavities filled, or any complicated dental work done by Dr. Vallejos. But on those occasions that I have needed dental work from the doctor, I will say that I actually have enjoyed it. Melanie is always careful to make sure she is not causing me any discomfort. Just sitting there in the chair and watching her and Mara work on my teeth is like watching a master watchmaker and her apprentice build a watch. They are so precise and compassionate in the work they do. I always feel confident that my teeth are being given the very best dental care possible. I am sure, like everyone that Melanie, Nora and Mara have days when they feel down and things are not going their way, but you would never know it from how delightful they are when you come to their offices. That's not the norm nowadays so I appreciate how well I'm treated over the phone as well as at the front desk. In fact, I visited another office that I would never go back to based on how rude the woman at the front desk was. The office is equipped with top of the line equipment and it's kept immaculate. The dental hygienist are thorough and I'm very pleased with the results of my cleanings. About Dr. Mike, he has a sense of humor and is personable. I felt confident with him and his proficiency from my very first visit. He is thorough in his examinations, and explains to you while showing you on your films, what your dental issues are and he discusses with you a treatment plan to include an estimate of the services needed before you begin the work. I've never felt any discomfort, pain, or anxiety while Dr. Mike is working on my teeth, and I am always pleased with his work. I just so happen to have needed to have very extensive work so I visited with three other dentist on the island, and although two others were quite good, I've chosen to stay with Dr. Mike. Whatever you do - don't go here…read more My insurance was expiring at the end of the month. I called to see if they could accept me as a patient before that. I took OFF work because they could only get me in for X-rays at 8am and a cleaning at 11am. I went in for the X-rays and the dentist said it looked pretty good, but asked her assistant which Doctor I was seeing at 11am. When the assistant Dee replied which Doctor (Nancy) it was the one I was seeing said, "oh no, she'll probably want to do a deep cleaning, she doesn't need it but she'll probably want to do that." The assistant and the woman checking out gave me the option to do the deep cleaning for $500 out of pocket total (in two phases) or to stay with the cleaning. As a paycheck to paycheck, I can't just shell out money for a reason that oh this doctor is going to want it. I opted to stay with the cleaning. They said, thank you, see you at 11. I came back at 1045am and sat there until 1115am. The front desk called me up and said the dentist will not take my appt because I've been recommended for a deep cleaning. I told them the other Doctor gave me the option and I was losing insurance at the end of the month and took off work today for this. They said Dr. Nancy and the hygienist wouldn't take me unless I did the deep cleaning and paid. Told me to call back and reschedule when I have other insurance and a new job. This is absolutely horrible practice, I felt like it was a shake down. I will never go back to them!! For a lot of people paycheck-to-paycheck, you can't expect people to pay and refuse service for a "recommended work" because one doctor will let the other "hear it" Avoid.

This happened quite a while ago but it has a lasting impact on my life and I have gone back and…read moreforth about sharing it. When I had my braces with Conmy he told me that I was missing an adult tooth on the bottom right side and that in order for him to continue treatment I would need it removed. My mom told him we would rather just have the braces removed and discontinue treatment but instead he then said he wouldn't remove my braces until this was done. My dentist even advised against removing my "baby" tooth as it was perfectly fine and healthy and could last for years to come if not the rest of my life. However, the decision was made by Conmy to have it removed. Conmy them said I would need to go to an oral surgeon to have a screw placed to try and pull my remaining molars forward into the space where my tooth had been. This was traumatizing to say the least as it was extremely painful and failed TWICE. I had a screw loose and moving around in my jaw bone cutting into my right cheek and causing me pain for absolutely no reason because this whole "treatment", or what I would call experiment, didn't work. I now have had a hole in my mouth for almost a decade and due to this my teeth have shifted significantly, despite wearing my retainers religiously, and I will need braces or Invisalign again in my 20s. I am personally impacted by this decision for the rest of my life both financially in having to pay for another round of orthodontic treatment and the several thousand dollar titanium implant I will have to have placed in my jaw as well as physically by the pain of this experience which has continued to this day. I would love to note that a friend of mine went to Conmy around the same exact time as me and had the same issue but on the bottom left side of her mouth and guess what? Conmy didn't remove her tooth. I've been wondering for years if he just decided to use me as some guinea pig without my consent...I guess I'll never know. But having Conmy as my orthodontist was one of the worst experiences of my entire life and my experience matters so here I am sharing it. I hope this will help at least one person consider asking more questions and standing up for yourself. I was only 15 at the time, I wish I had used my voice and said no...but I trusted that he knew what was best for me. Thanks for reading this, I appreciate it.

Yo! My crown came off while eating on the plane to Maui. Super stressful! It wasn't painful but it…read moremade eating uncomfortable and didn't seem like a good idea for my vacation. I had Wi-Fi so I searched up emergency dentist" in Kahului even though I was going to West Maui. This place looked good and super close to the airport. While I was still on my flight, they told me they could squeeze me in when I landed. Meanwhile I texted them my insurance card and they gave me an appointment and said if I was late I could go between patients. When I got there, I only had to wait a few minutes before I was taken back to see Dr. Lena! She was so nice as was her dental assistant and the receptionists. She saw that in fact it was not only my crown that came off... but also part of my tooth! So she told me to make sure to see my dentist at home when I get home, and she took a picture to send him. Within a few minutes, she had cleaned off my crown and then she carefully and skillfully put it back on and cemented it. And they take Delta Dental! I paid $120 on top of what insurance covered, but it was totally worth it. The errand to come here from the airport only took about 30 minutes, and then I could start vacation. This is an incredibly thorough and responsive office. I'm so glad I found them on Yelp and they could set me up while I was still on the plane. Dr. Lena is super nice also and makes a patient feel at ease. Highly recommended, even if you're not going to start your vacation this way lol!
