They have fixed at least a half dozen cars or trucks for me over the last 25 years and always do great work and are a pleasure to work with. This is a third generation business. When it's an insurance claim they always go to bat for me to get the correct parts and services authorized for the repairs from the insurance company. When I'm paying they are always are willing to work with me and my budget. They fixed Slimer for me on my last visit and did a great job fixing it up again. It should be noted they didn't do the chop or crappy green paint on Slimer, they just straightened the front end out after I wrecked it. read more

Second time in last month. Again very pleased with the way Mat truly cares about his customers concerns Was going to get my truck repaired there But decided to trade it in No repairs ever done. Harvil's Body Shop Perfection is the name of the game at Harvil's Body Shop. A colleague accidentally ran into my 1999 Mercedes E320, severely damaging my right front fender. At this point, it is important to note my car was in immaculate condition because, since day one of owning it, it had been pampered like a newborn. One other piece of important background information is I was new to the area. I had just moved from Northern California to Tempe a mere six months earlier, so I had no idea where to take my car for repairs, which caused me great distress as the last thing I needed was to have some hack body shop botch the repair job! I mentioned my concerns to my colleague, who luckily for me is an exceptionally nice guy, and he recommended Harvil's Body Shop. Harvil's had previously repaired his wife's car and had done an excellent job. Now, you must understand that I am a really picky guy with relatively high standards, so understandably, I still had my concerns even though I had no reason to disbelieve my colleague's recommendation. What if our definition of a "good shop" or "quality of work" were different? What if, what if, what if? Anyway, long story short, I dropped my car off at Harvil's Body Shop and before leaving I said to Matt Harvil, now when I pick up my car in two days I will not be able to tell the fender was ever touched right? Matt confidently answered; it will look brand new! Two days later I went back to Harvil's to pick up my car and whoa and behold, to my pleasant surprise, the fender had been perfectly repaired and paint matched. I would never EVER trust my vehicle with these liars. They initially told me to fuck off until I wrote a bad review on yelp. Now they're all like "yeah I'll totally fix it for you now, how about a free bumper" .... until I wrote a bad review on Yelp they weren't helpful at all. And did not try to fix their errors. Harvil Auto Body-what a class act company. My F250 Ford Super Duty was tboned by another big truck and had lots of damage. The owner Fred took time to explain what exactly was damaged and gave clear explanations on repairs and was patient with my questions. The time frame for anticipated completion was spot on and my truck came out looking better and newer than prior to the wreck. The truck is not your normal basic off the showroom floor truck it has lots of after market upgrades etc and Harvil was not only experienced in them but also could accommodate for it. My daughter's 128i BMW was horribly keyed this summer and we found Harvil's through State Farm Insurance. Fred Harvil was very friendly and helpful to work with and we really appreciated his service. She dropped her car off on Monday I believe and she had the car back by Friday. His rates were very good and ended up being lower than we had expected, and what we liked about him is that he was very honest. My daughter had accidentally backed her car into a pole earlier that summer and hadn't gotten it fixed because she kept getting quoted around $500 and couldn't do that, but because Harvil was already going to fix the rest of the car he only charged her $100 to repair the back bumper which was really nice. He also set us up with a rental car for her through Hertz that she was able to leave there at the shop and have them pick up which was great and convenient. All in all, Fred Harvil was very pleasant to work with, timely, and left her car looking like new. Definitely recommend! read more

I wanted to give a shout out to nick harvil over at harvils auto body. Nick did all the body panel work on my miata himself. He came to my home to give me an estimate! Who does that? The speed of the work was exceptional - nick was finished in 2 weeks including paint His customer service was exceptional - he is friendly and honest and he answers text messages within 15 minutes! This is my third time at Harvil's Auto body. My first time, I had a busted mirror on a Saturn outlook and they found one at a salvage yard and saved me a bunch of money. I was also in because I had hit a deer with my Chevy suburban I bent my plastic front bumper cover a bit and busted some tabs underneath. Rather than replace the whole bumper cover, they were able to heat and bend and replace tabs and make it look ALMOST new. No reason to have brand new IMO as once you're on the road for a few weeks, there's a ton of rock chips etc. this saved me over $1,000. Lastly, I took a work vehicle over there with another messed up mirror and they were able to glue the mirror back together for 1/2 hour of labor vs. getting a whole new assembly and having to paint etc for $300-$500. They definitely give options for less cash if the customer is fine with not having brand new parts and a perfect fix etc. I'm sure they're also happy to take your cash for a full repair, but most things in work vehicles don't need to be perfect, rather just function properly. read more

We had a bad experience at Harvil, they weren't able to fully repair our car's damage from an accident. They weren't able to source parts for our repair and they were also more interested in building a rapport with the at-fault driver's insurance agent rather than their customer. They also didn't fix a lamp that was stuck on from the accident as they suggested replacing the relay (which we did ourselves) but when that didn't work they said it would take a full tear down (!) - this was something that could have been fixed initially with the body repair. After waiting over a year for them to source the parts and finish the repair, we gave up and moved on. We're confident the only time anyone was looking for our parts was when we would contact them every few months to check on status. We also waited 6+ months to leave a review to give them the benefit of the doubt as the last interaction we had with their shop they said they would still try and source the parts and be in touch (haven't heard from them since). read more

This shop is shady! They say one thing and then gouge you after they begin the work. They gave me a price quote, began the work, and then demanded more money to finish my car or put it back together. When I contacted my Insurance company, the shop just screwed them too by over charging them with made up fees such as admin, high storage costs, etc... Shop forgets that all this money being paid to them is reflected in my premiums and raises my rates. No wonder people in AZ pay so much on car insurance, all of these excess costs from shops like this and attorneys representing sue happy society. read more

The front bumper of my 2010 Dodge Challenger was hit at work. The guys insurance was with State Farm, they gave me a list of places that are covered through them. Harvil was on the list and I decided to take a shot at it because my car is my baby and I was pissed that some idiot hit me without even hearing my horn screaming. Well they are everything that you need in an auto body shop, Helpful, courteous, fast, and my front bumper looks like it's brand new which made me very happy and even though I didn't have to pay for it these guys didn't over price. Went here as it was a state farm location and based on the reviews. I went to another shop the same day for an estimate but after going to Harvil's I knew it was a better fit. First, they gave me a estimate that was higher than the other place, but because they thought it was more realistic. They looked at the other estimate and explained where they differed and why. Even though I showed up alone as a young woman, they explained everything and were incredibly kind and straight forward. Even before committing to using their shop, they noticed that my fender was loose and wired it right then and there so I would be safe driving until I could get my car fixed. I went to several Yelp recommended auto body shops in Tempe to have a bumper repaired on a new ( 2012 ) car. It seems that most shops use a similar estimate system, as all the prices were + / - $50, and just kind of looked similar. Since price wasn't a consideration I went with customer service to get my work done. The folks at Harvil's just seemed like genuine honest guys, so I made an appointment to have work done there. Dropped the car off Monday morning, and it was ready by Tuesday afternoon. The car looks good as new, and there were no surprises from them on pick up. I hope I don't NEED to visit a body shop any time soon, but if I do Harvil's will be my choice. read more

I found Harvil's per my mechanic's, Dave over at IMM, recommendation after I'd been t-boned in my MKIV VW Golf in a parking lot. I'd never had body work and had no idea what to expect. VW's in case you don't know are very finicky vehicles, it takes a special finesse to work on them - that and sing kumbaya since they don't make valium for cars. Dave's worked on my VW (the car's name is Conrad) for 5 years now so I knew he thought Harvil's was up to the challenge of dealing with my anxiety attack prone car. I felt bad Conrad got beat up so I got him some premium gas a consolation prize & told him he was going to have a spa week over at Harvil's. I called them and was able to set up an estimate time within a day or two. The shop is behind the Vet's office and is really a strip of businesses. Harvil's (what you will see anyway) is two big shop garage doors and a small (maybe a large restroom size) office. As a female a lot of shops like this have a tendency to "dumb it down" with females, not this shop. They took the time to explain what needed repaired versus replaced, etc. Nick Harvil did all of this and then Tim Harvil handled the completion. I got lost on my way there and showed up 30 mins after the time my estimate was scheduled for (I apologized profusely for my tardiness.). I fully expected to be told they were busy, being late was my fault, and to come back another time. Didn't even phase them that I was late. The cost was a big concern to me. At the scene the person that hit me admitted fault & did not want insurance involved - then flipped the script saying I hit her. When Harvil's asked - I explained I wasn't sure what insurance this was going through mine or the other party's and told them how the other party was trying to turn it around claiming I was at fault. They were very receptive to this and told me they did not believe I could be at fault in any way based on the damage/location of the impact. It was explained to me that my insurance would likely pay then go after the other party/ their insurer to recoup the loss. After my insurance investigated - I was told verbatim information that Harvil's told me. Some body shops gouge you but after my insurance stepped in with the same info, I knew I could absolutely rely & trust on Harvil's. They were honest, didn't give me the run around, accurate, and very knowledgeable. When I arrived they started talking to me as if I was an old friend - very friendly and courteous. They took pictures, gave an estimate, told me when they would have shop time available, etc all within 30 minutes (if not less). I learned it's a family owned business that has been in the valley for about 30 years. My insurance also sent an appriser who came up with $2400 in damages while Harvil's came up with $2100 for the exact same work. Needless to say, they were perfectly ok with my vehicle being repaired there. They told me 5 days, pick it up on Friday after 9am (I was so happy this wasn't a wait till 5pm when we are about to close kind of shop!), and sure enough it was ready to go. My front passenger door had to replaced, the rear door was mostly touch up (re-paint as well), and my rocker needed a repair & unibody pull. My insurance arranged for a rental which picked me up. While talking to the Enterprise Rep., I asked if Harvil's was a place a lot of the customers used. I immediately felt even more comfortable when he told me that they do a lot of business with Harvil's and people rave about them. I had to drive some Chevy Cruze around all week that shifted like hippy hop and you don't stop, all the while imagining Conrad was getting poked and prodded like he was in the TSA line. The car looks really good, amazing actually. I had some damage to my rocker from a jack slip (that was not part of my accident damaged rocker). When I showed up Tim told me they went ahead and fixed it at no charge while working on the other areas of the rocker! Conrad also seems to be happy with the repairs. He's cruising like his sassy spunky self again. Very happy with this shop and I hope I won't ever have to go back but this is the place I will tell all my friends & family to visit. read more

How refreshing it is to find an honest, upstanding, kind, and VERY generous business. Well, Harvil Auto Body is just that! Tim Harvil, his son, and the other gentlemen at Harvil replaced/manufactured an aluminum tab that held a silly non-essential plastic guard underneath my Lexus IS that the Lexus dealership wanted to charge more than $3,500 to replace the whole sub-frame, which was not at all damaged or structurally compromised. In May of 1993 , Harvils Auto Body helped me restore a beautiful classic. A 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. The Decals were perfect and so was the body Flare Kit and Spoiler on front and back. The Trans Am has gotten lots of compliments and 20 years later the paint they selected and clear coat are still looking new. I have recommended Harvils to several friends.
