We have never owned a pool and were intimidated by the thought of having to care for one. After doing lots of research on different types of pools we decided that a fiberglass pool with a salt water system would be the way to go. We took a leap of faith and drove over to the Tallman factory to see what they had to offer. After visiting the factory and meeting Edward, we decided to have Tallman Pools come out to our house to explain the process and give us some ideas on design. Since we were close to their location, they explained that they could do all the excavation, installation, grading, and concrete work as well. We were thrilled to find out that we could to deal with one company through the entire process. After hearing everything that they could do for us, we decided to take the plunge and become new pool owners. We decided to go with a 14x34 pool, the San Lucas. Because of the slope in our backyard, we had to have a small retaining wall installed as well. Not only did the wall turn out great, it significantly enhanced the look of the pool area. Edward, Ed Sr., Michele, and Anne were extremely helpful explaining every step of the process. They even sent us a "thank you" basket after the pool was completed!! We couldn't be happier with the finished product. Our friends and family are all blown away by how beautiful and fun our new pool area is. Customer service is at the heart of Eddie's business and we're glad we went with them as fiberglass requires a lot less care and has an amazing warranty compared to our prior experience with gunite pools, while costing less than a gunite pool when all is said and done. We still need to complete landscaping before we can close our permit. At this point, if you are assessing Hilltop, I think it's safe to consider them. Write down the names and contacts that the people you are dealing with. It gets confusing over time. For example our Project Manager sent us some initial kick off emails and answered a few questions but after that we are dealing with different people to resolve our issues. The Project Manager was not part of our issue resolution. Some of the people we dealt with early on in the process e.g. permitting you will ended up dealing with them again, later part of the process. 8/8 Update: Salt Cell installed. Hilltop sent someone in pretty quick (same day) after we reported the issue. They also sent another trainer few days later per our request to show us the salt cell operations and cleaned out our filter (pretty dirty from the additional pavers work that had to be done). Failed Electrical because fence repair was not done (no one told us that this has to be done before scheduling electrical inspection). Hilltop took responsibility and resent inspector few days after we had fence work done. Passed inspection once the fence was done. 7/29 Update: We were told we are ready for Pool School so we scheduled it. Turn out there was no salt cell installed. This was not communicated to us ahead of time until the Pool Technician is at our house. Frustrating nevertheless. 6/28 Update: Hilltop sent Pavers subcontractor back a couple of times to repair our pavers. Work was completed to our satisfaction. The time loss of course is not recoverable but our priority is quality. ----- Before 6/28 - The design team did a good job working with us meeting our impervious restriction. I am appreciative of that. The installation of our in ground pool started on March 11th. Payments have been made in full but project is still not done as of today, July 8th. Pavers were installed beautifully the first time but we were told that they had to be removed for bonding inspection. Pavers redo has been a nightmare. Unleveled pavers, sharp and broken edges, poor quality overall. We expected better from Hilltop. We reported the issues to the company and were told they will redo pavers and get this right. Came home from vacation, expecting a nice rework. Unfortunately, we were once again disappointed because they were not redone at all - even though we were told it was while we were away. Due diligence and communication have been poor. Today, we once again reported the issues to the owner of the company and project supervisor. I will update review and let you know if the company follow through with a redo and takes care of things like the owner said they would the last time. Unfortunately, my pool was not originally installed by Apex and I have had many problems, but over…read morethe last 3-4 years, they have performed numerous repairs on my pool, including extensive repairs of my pump, the replacement of both my salt system and the booster pump for my Polaris pool vacuum. Most recently they replaced the base of my diving board, which requires the concrete to be torn out and replaced. They have installed a new liner and repaired some things that were not properly done at the time of installation. These guys are the best!! They are very honest, professional & knowledgable, and do great quality work at fair prices. They do not sell you things you don't need. Do it right the first time and use Apex! These guys are the best!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!We called Apex Pools to re-coat our fiberglass pool. The quote was for…read more$21,000 which is what we anticipated. We paid up front and then waited several weeks for someone to show up. We had fiber optic lights around the perimeter of the pool. They covered them with what was supposed to be fire resistant tape. It was not. The material they used was applied with a torch, which destroyed the lights. This was summer of 2025. They said they would repair/replace the lights. We kept the pool open later in the fall than usual because they kept telling us they would be returning. They never returned so we ended up closing it. We continued to try to contact them & finally in July 2026 they came and replaced the lights which still don't work. We cannot get any response from the company. TERRIBLE SERVICE!!
