What has happened to Harvey's? I remember the chain for serving cooked-to-order burgers of notably superior quality. Feeling peckish after a shopping run at Bayer's Lake, I popped in to see how the intervening years since my last visit had affected the brand. Not well, I am sorry to report. Firstly, the burger, while perfectly fine and competitive with its many rivals, was nothing special. The fries were generic, though plentiful. In short, Harvey's no longer stands out from the many alternatives and to add insult to injury (and no fault of the restaurant), the clientele didn't add to the experience. Halifax is crying out for a truly gourmet burger experience, so if any Yelpers out there know of one, please share. read more

Food was god, burgers were a little dry, salad was okay at best, but the Funnel cake fries were ridiculous. The amount of sauce depicted in the picture in comparison to what we received it little to none. All in all, meh. read more

I love Harvey's oh so very much! And this one does it right! The burgers are made fresh for you and you choose how it gets dressed. if you cant decide between fries and onion rings, they have you covered. FRINGS!!! Half fries, half onion rings, all delicious! This is a very small space that fills up very quickly, especially on weekends. The staff here is always friendly and very good at keeping the place clean while quickly preparing your food. This is the place that all other fast food joints should strive to emulate. Fast food done right. read more

I hadn't eaten at Harvey's in years since I mostly live on the US West coast, so I was really looking forward to having some of my old college favorite again. It shames me as a Canadian to say that I'm not a huge fan of poutine; but I suppose to each their own and I make up for that lacking with a more than healthy appetite for some good ol' red meat between a bun. Harvey's definitely didnt disappoint today.. I kept it simple..just a regular burger with bacon (my weakness). The attendent (or whatever they're called) put one anemic little tomato on my burger when it got to assembling the condiments on top of the inviting looking piece of beef. So I encouraged her to put on more.. They seemed a little hesitant with the condiments which I'm not used to.. But then I noticed that the entire staff was Asian, which while ruthlessly efficient and very friendly, it reminded me of Asian restaurants on the west coast where they tend to be sparse with extras.. No judgement there, it may be a cultural thing, but I want my burger smothered in sauces and so I just kept saying "more, More, MOAR!" until the nice young lady got the message and served it up right.. The burger turned out delicious, and I wished I'd ordered more, but alas that will be for another day. On a side note, I arrived shortly before 5pm on a Saturday evening and it was very quiet, but the moment the clock struck 5 the place was deluged with customers.. Harvey's is my most favourite fast food burger. When I don't have the time or the head space to eat at one of the new "gourmet" burger joints popping up - this is my constant. The place where I know I will get a good burger at a fair price. I love the toppings choices - they are simple, fresh and tasty. The service has always been excl lent. I hope they always stay in Halifax as I have been a loyal customer and fan for almost 30 years - nuff said. It sounds like a cliche but they do make burgers beautiful things! read more

Why yes, Harvey's DOES make your hamburger a beautiful thing. I love their "steakette" type burgers; they actually have substance. I'm not crazy about their fries so I always get their onion rings, which are fresh, hot and crispy. YUM. I will say it is such a small restaurant, however, that we usually go through the drive-through and just eat in the car while watching shoppers whiz down Chain Lake Drive. That is a big shortcoming for me. However, this is the only fast food joint where I don't have to essentially fight to get a plain burger (just meat and bun, people); there are no standard toppings so when I ask for plain, I actually get it rather than plain-but-with-cheese (Wendy's) or plain-but-with-ketchup-mustard-relish-tomato-lettuce (everywhere else). WOW is all I can say about this fast food restaurant!!! Now i have to say I do LOVE the food here. The burgers are by far better than any other "fast food" restaurant I've been to. However what really sets this restaurant above any others in the same category are the staff that work here. They are always pleasant and even come around and ask you how everything is! I visit this location about 2-3 times per month at the drive through. My order is always accurate and I like to try various limited time options that Harveys has on their menu. My favorite part about this Harveys is a woman who regularly works at the drive through window during lunch time or early afternoon. I think her name is Amanda? She has been at this store for as long as I have been going there. She is fantastic! Always upbeat, quick and super friendly too. It is nice to see long time employees who have such wonderful customer service. If I was an owner of a restaurant or retail outlet, I think she would be a great asset. read more

Probably one of the best fast food burger place in halifax, getting to choose your toppings is the best

I've been a big Harvey's fan since I was in university 37 years ago with a location almost opposite my building. With the enticement of an Angus burger meal for $5.99, I ventured out to place my order. They were very slow to respond at the drive through but did get my order correct. The burger was okay, (just), but the fries had obviously been sitting under a heat lamp for some time and were uneatable; hard and crunchy. My Diet Pepsi was little more than coloured soda water. This isn't what I'd come to expect of this once stellar restaraunt. Update: A day after posting this some weeks ago, I received an email stating that I would be contacted in a few days by someone in order to come to a resolution to my complaint. This never happened. Harveys does make my favorite burger....I just wish they had faster service and wifi - this is why I don't go there as often.
