They initially brought me just a cup of chowder, which our server noticed, and proactively let the kitchen staff know. They gave me extra chowder and garlic toast, which I had for carry out because the cup I had eaten was so filling. I would definitely eat there again!

Too bright, no real design or "comfort" feeling and the large windows seem to just take away the pub feel and you feel like you are in a fish tank. Need to darken it down a bit, add some decor, and add a proper sound system that's not Q104 or TV's playing sports with no sound. I understand it is a new startup and they're also finding their way. These improvements are likely to come down the road, and I hope it's soon. I want this to be my hideaway.

Not much in the way of food at the moment, other that snacks, but I mainly come for the beer. And the cider. They do a very English style cloudy cider which is dry as a bone and quite delicious. The barman and single waitress were being rushed off their feet and the kitchen appeared to be way behind on orders, all thanks to the power cut. A second waitress who lived locally was called in at short notice and together, the three of them performed heroically. The drinks choices are fine, with some coverage of the local craft scene, including a couple of the better ciders and the menu is standard pub fare. I went for the poutine. A mass of fries, slightly less than optimum portion of curds and a generous topping of smoked meat. The gravy was just the right temperature to melt the curds and seasoning was good. I was thoroughly stuffed by the end. Not cheap at around $13, but not too bad for Halifax. The main bar is a bit of a barn and I'm not sure it would make for a cozy local pub, but for beer and tucker you could do far worse.
