The restaurant itself is a little outdated and can use some updates. It's a nice little hole in the wall. We were greeted upon entry by the lady behind the counter. That was nice. I tried the fried chicken and the fried catfish. Both were really good! The mashed potatoes and white gravy and brown gravy were good. The Mac n cheese had a weird sweet taste to it. I didn't care for it. The yeast rolls were to die for! I had 2! We did the lunch buffet. Well it's an all day buffet, but we were there for lunch. I had a bite of my son's cobbler. Do I like a good drive thru- wing special, of course!!! Did I have a hankering for some good fried okra, absolutely!!! However, I will NEVA be okay with trying to find meat on a chicken wing that has been cooked in such a disgraceful manner- if you going to put so little effort in cooking - why do it?? Don't bother is disgusting. I use to come here when I was a child and the food was awesome !! But that was 12 years ago ? I recently went.... I was the only person in the drive thru and the only customer they had at that moment (including inside.) Took them 30 minutes to get my order... Chicken was not cooked.... The bread was insanely greasing and stale.... 2 dudes in there not doing anything... I have to believe they just left all the food out and never trade it for fresh food. Don't go to this Hartz chicken buffet after 1 PM (on Friday) for lunch. The vegetables were barely OK but the chicken and fish (and other meats) that were out on the buffet had been sitting there for quite a while and were cold and stale. Even the usually good bread rolls were crusty and hard on top from being on the buffet for so long. Cole slaw was bitter and inedible. This location does not have an ice cream machine for dessert. Dated..ok. Small bathroom..ok. Friendliest staff around..yes. Hot fresh food on our lunchtime visit about 1p on a Thu...yes. Blue collar workers, white collar workers, old & young families, couples & single customers..yes. There is no boundary for the love of fried ckn, gizzards, livers, fish, baked ckn, greens, pinto beans, white rice, mac & chs, cabbage, seasoned green beans, mashed w gravy & the best yeast rolls around. I could not stop thinking of myMom & myPops while eating my plate...we would go to Hartz while growing up in the 80's if our budget allowed. Went there at 3:30pm, food seemed like it was there since the restaurant opened. Old and disgusting food. My fault though should've looked at the food first before I paid. Researched which location to go to before coming. Selected this one over Steubner-Airline for this reason. As previously stated. This is a good location. Went on a Thursday night at 545pm. Was pretty busy and thus the food was all fresh. Everything was as expected. It is probably 5stars for a Hartz. read more

I've visited this restaurant a few times. The food is above average but not excellent. Gizzards are the main attraction on the buffet for me. The buffet price has recently changed from $8.99 to $9.99. This specific location has really good Lemonade and Kool-Aid. The restaurant closes at 9pm. The buffet food was scarce and i arrived a few minutes after 8pm. An employee made some fresh gizzards which was satisfying. However, I like the buffalo wings and tenders as well but there were very few of each. read more

First and last time coming here. Never wasting another $10 at this buffet again. The only decent things were the rolls... But there were flies all around the food. Used to be great. All the food taste bland liver and gizzards could'nt even chew on them. Rolls were OK and chicken was good but on other side vegetables had no taste and appeared they been there for a long time. Prices going up tonight for dinner buffet $9.98. If you value customer service do not go to the Hartz on 1489 Spring Cypress RD. The manager is an African American female that wears glasses and is short This lady needs a crash course in simple customer service etiquette. She is very rude with 0% customer service. When you are told some else can take your order for only asking about a menu option is how you know someone is unprofessional. The bad part is that regular employees are more professional than her. Went thru the drive thru and paid....6 min later got told to pull around front, it would be 7 more minutes. 10 minutes later the guy come out and says 10 more minutes...they forgot me and served all the customers out front.
