We had Harte's do our pool plastering and couldn't be more disheartened. After saving up for the job, we chose this company upon recommendation of a Turlock friend Who knows the family. The whole process started off with a woman coming out to give an estimate. After that, the company was near impossible to reach, so many of our questions went unanswered. This is where we should have used common sense and shut down the process. Our bad. The rest was a nightmare. Our original tile was to be kept and used, so they decided to clean it with a sandblaster. On that day, the man who did the job made the moment that he should have used their less powerful sandblaster, but it was too late. The tile was heavily pitted and most of the grout gone. To rectify this it was decided they would "seal" the tile and re-grout. I'm no tile expert, but I've done enough to know that the film they painted over the pits (which came peeling right back off within a couple of days) was a shotty coverup. And if that wasn't bad enough, instead of removing the old grout completely before reapplying, they skimmed a new layer over the top, leaving much of it on the face of the tile. Most of that new skimmed-on grout chipped off within a few days as well. Another shotty coverup. As far as the pool plaster, we brought to their attention several cracks, a footprint, and areas near the tile which were missed completely. We were told there was absolutely nothing that could be done. I do suppose that wasn't a terrible thing as by this time we were quite DONE! Never again! read more

Hartt's re-plastered our pool and replaced our pool equipment last fall. They did a fantastic job, our pool looked like a lost cause. It is now beautiful and functioning. The pool filter installed is saving us money every month on our PG&E bill. Their pricing is very competitive as well. read more

If a zero was possible I would give it to them. My mom is a widowed senior citizen and paid $5000 to have pool replastered a few years back. It looks AWFUL already. My mom had to file a complaint with the Contractors Licensing Board. He never tried to make it right. It's hard to show in the pictures but it is an awful job. This should last for several years. My mom takes great pride in keeping up her pool and this is frustrating and just gets worse all the time. I would not recommend getting pool replastered here. read more

They were recommended by a reliable source and unfortunately they were not as ethical as the person that recommended them. Not once did they mention to my mom that she would be responsible be for brushing or scrubbing the pool after it was plastered. It's a huge pool and she's 70 and uses a cane! it wasn't until she got the aftercare instructions that she was told to diy twice daily brushing of the plaster. You can read the answer they gave me when I questioned them openly about it. Apparently they don't have the staff to do it and customers can just ask neighbors, friends, relatives, or complete strangers for all they care. I would love to help my mom and I'm bedridden with an injury on top of being handicapped. I can't say much for how the pool was replastered since we had to inquire about the mess that was left for days. There was a general lack of communication problems with this process we're unfamiliar with. Apparently employees lie when questioned about things. Zack said that's no other company does the brushing and it wouldn't be cost effective for them to come out 2x's a day to do it for any customer. He didn't know we had asked on Yelp and got a completely different answer. read more

Hartt's pool recently re-plastered our pool and did a great job. They also identified some ways to improve the performance of my pool equipment and re-plumbed the pipes. They are thorough and I enjoyed working with them. They took the time to explain the project and provided detailed instructions on how to care for our pool. During the initial visit, they provided many samples along with their portfolio to help us choose what fit us the best. Their workers always maintained the area clean every day. Regina Hartt came and looked at our "rebar bleed" problem. I told her I was not an expert in pool plastering but, I told her my gut said the plaster in our pool was in really good shape, other than the "rebar bleed" problem. Regina agreed with me indicating that the plaster was good for another five years. She quoted me a price to fix the problem and clean the tiles. That was on a Wednesday. On Friday of the same week, her crew came and did the job. Randy Hartt was there working on the site as well. I was impressed with the short time span between getting the estimate and Hartt's Pool Plastering doing their job. The repair looks great. I would list a zero if I could. Unfortunately our experience was tumultuous throughout the process. Even though they ended up being one of the higher bidders, we chose Hartt's primarily because of good reviews and because they were local (Turlock). If I had only known that my wife and I would be on a rollercoaster ride with a rude and inconsiderate company. Next to no explanation of process or expectations, trash left behind, foul language flying around while my kids were within earshot, lack of communication over and over again. Just a very unpleasant experience with unpleasant ownership, even some of the employees. Of course we had to call them back out to finish up this or explain that. Just a real frustrating experience. If I could do it over again I would have made the same choice because we really did our homework. What a bummer. Do yourself a favor and hire someone other than Hartt's. read more

Called 3 different pool plastering contractors. One never showed, the 2nd one (bigname; guess who) came out and tried to give us the hardsell on upgrades, and then there was Hartt's. Regena was straight up about costs, schedule and recommendations. We needed the job completed so we could have our 4th of July pool party and they delivered right on schedule with a quality job that looks great! I had Hart pool replaster my pool, fill in a spa and add some additional decking. They filled the spa but failed to cap off pipes correctly so we had a leak. We had to pay $450 for leak detection people to find the leak, which Randy said he would pay for if they found it was his work. Still waiting for that to happen. Also, the deck they poured started cracking within weeks of being poured, was told that was to be expected, and it could be patched. Looks awful. Plaster job is so rough and I was told I could sand it if I wanted it smooth. AVOID these guys if you want a good job. read more

When my wife and I decided to have our nearly 30 year old pool re-plastered, I got three bids (a fourth failed to respond) from local pool contractors. We choose Hartts due to their professionalism, reputation and very competitive price (although not the absolute lowest bid). They completed the re-plastering process a couple of weeks ago and we could not be more pleased. Throughout the process, their crews were very professional and communicative of the process. They followed up after the project completion and made sure to properly set up the water chemistry once the pool was filled. Two of my friends had their pools re-plastered in this last year by another well known local company and both had significant issues occur within weeks of the projects' completion. In both cases, it was a hassle for them to get the company to correct the issues which in both cases were "workmanship" related. Hired Hartt to retile, plaster and fill in a spa also add some new decking to my pool last year. Work was completed in June, however, not quite the quality I expected. About a month after completion I noticed that I was filling my pool way too often and asked to have them check for leaks. They said they were super busy and might be awhile before they could return. In October I again called and was told they would have a leaked detector person come out which I would have to pay for if NO leak was found. Leak person said leak was in my skimmer and Hartt said they would let pool evaporate a few weeks and then come back. They didn't, after 3 months we called a another pool outfit they recommend a different leak company which found a leak in spa that was surposed to be totally capped off by Hartts before filling in. So the problem was Hartts error, Called HARTT AGAIN, they came out dug up the spa and fixed the leak, commenting they would be back next week to fill and replace our decking it's been 3 weeks still trying to get them out to fill in this hole. I have had to pay a leak detector person $450. to find their mistake and am still waiting for job to be completed. Not really reliable people, don't expect to have things completed in timely manor. read more

I did a lot of research and sourced 3 different quotes. Hartt's came in at half the price of my highest quote. I had a 30 year old plaster pool resurfaced, and had new 6" tile installed. Also, my suction cleaner line had a crack in it under the pool deck. 2 other resurfacing companies wanted to rip out a large section of concrete and install a new pipe. Hartt's instead, added a small charge to core a new hole through the plaster and under the deck which preserved my pool deck and saved me $1000's. It took several weeks to complete my pool resurface, but that was mainly due to weather (it is Winter). They always let me know when they were coming out and always left a clean work site. They even handled my dogs well. What I liked most about Hartt's was that not a single sub-contractor was used. All people working on my pool were employed by Hartt's giving me peace of mind that I would not get burned by a bad contractor. Payments were due as the project was being completed, and I never had concerns about the quality of workmanship. We will be enjoying our pool for years to come I am sure. read more
