Took My bed Comforter to Chari Murphy owner of Hartnell Cleaners Redding Ca., asked her to Steam Clean it, she said you can wash no need to steam clean"! When I got the comforter home i put on bed it was all balled up. I was very saddened. I went back to Hartnell and spoke with Chari, she admitted the comforter was damaged because it was washed! Even through Chari wasn't very open to make this right fairly when it comes to cost! I attempted to go to Home Goods and buy another comforter but the one I choose wasn't a match with my carpet. It was priced at $69 dollars, Chari took 20% off, I needed curtains as my original comforter had curtains to match. Another 20% was taken off curtains. She was upset about the curtains! I'm now upset on how she is treating me I 85 yrs old I can't keep going back to returning large items. Chair said let's see if my semester can repair the lumps!? It did not get repaired, the semester removed the quilting but did not resew them! Chair refuses to fix she is saying, I Don't see anything! My pictures will show where some are still there and the other side there is left over thread where they were removed! All the girls there are great! They take their work seriously and give great results. Thats quite obvious with the amount of customers they have dropping items off and picking up. I haven't had them do any work for me yet though.... I was an electrician working there installing a new branch circuit for a new pressing machine. It aint easy for those ladies in the back there either. They have all these machines running, steam blowing out of the presses and then this track with all these garments on it flying around. Did I mention the heat? Oh man it's no cool office building thats for sure. Girls.... I take my hat off to you. (if I wore one. Ha!) Hey and when your there... Hey this review's been long overdue but I should mention that this is my go to place in Redding for all my dry cleaning and bedding cleaning needs. The folks here are super friendly, fun, and kind. They rescued a puppy behind their store and named him Peanut Butter. Really! So you can come here and drop off your dry cleaning and collect some puppy snuggles too. Most importantly they are organized, my dry cleaning always gets done on time, not one mistake in the past 4 years so they definitely deserve a mention! Plus the costs are reasonable. They used to offer alterations but not any more. They were kind enough to let me park in front of their store to get some time sensitive emails out under their awning out of the Redding heat so that tells you how nice they are! Just so you don't go through what I went through. Waited almost a month to get a $7.75 refund after Hartnell Cleaners killed a $250.00 Burberry polo that was gifted to me. 1. The first time I went to pick it up it had visible yellow/brown stains on both sides (this was actually less visible this time around), the original colors faded to pink and it just felt like a wash rag after who knows what they did to it for so long trying to get whatever got on it out. 2. The jeans where returned with creases that normally go on dress pants. They explained that basically I had to have explained to them how to do their job. In the end, I was blamed for bringing it in like that. Didn't care about the shirt just wish they would've handled it with honesty and professionalism. This place was horrible. I should have turned around and walked back out the door as soon as I smelled the place. If a CLEANING place smells like mold and cat pee, that's probably not a good sign. However, I ignored my instincts and dropped off my winter coats and silk blouse since I needed them done fast and didn't have time to find another cleaner. They absolutely ruined my silk shirt. I have no idea what they did or what went wrong, but my shirt was returned to me with a thick, ashy, stiff film on top - a very noticeable difference from the silky, deeply colored blouse I came there with. And nothing I've tried since has been able to return my blouse to its original condition. As for the coats, they now smell worse than they did from being shoved in my hall closet for the past year. Upon my Arrival I was promptly greeted by a nice lady, I explained what I needed, and she told me it would be Thursday before it would be done, I politely explained that I needed it sooner than that, so she told me that for one dollar more I could have it done by Wednesday, which I agreed to, later the same day(today) I received a phone call that my job was done! Picked up my Down Comforter brought it home only to find it hadn't been DRY CLEANED but washed (i could have done that) and all the down was spread around the perimeter of the comforter ! The tags which said DRY CLEAN were cooked to a crisp! This cost me $38. I've had this comforter cleaned previously when I lived in Benicia about a year ago and it was done beautifully so I know how it should have been cleaned! I never leave bad reviews but I have to say that this is the worst cleaners I have ever been to. I decided to give it a try since it was close to my work. First off the women who was at the counter was plain rude and talked in circles about what she thought I wanted and tried saying that it would take 6 days for my one shirt (not too hard, just wanted a shirt cleaned and starched). I was very nice about it and repeated myself respectfully but she still couldn't comprehend what I wanted and had an attitude about it. Told her no I needed it at least by later the next day and she said she somehow "found time" to do my shirt earlier. Place was very dirty along floors and walls but I thought I would still try and not walk out, my mistake. Got my shirt back barely cleaned with some streaks and was obviously not starched and they tried saying I never mentioned that even though it was mentioned on the tab. I recently brought in a bridesmaid dress to them. During the line dancing at the reception someone stumbled spilling their drink down the front of me. Horrible experience! I took three of my husband's brand new expensive silk shirts to this dry cleaner with request to have them DRY CLEANED. When we went to pick them up, they had obviously been LAUNDERED and were shrunken, faded and starched. When we attempted to speak with management about the issue we were told the shirts were "obviously cheap and poor quality" which is why they faded. Then, they went on to suggest that my husband had probably just "gained weight" in the week since they had been dropped off rather than admit the shirts had shrunken down at least one complete size! They adamantly denied any starch was used despite the obvious smell and starch residue on the clothing. We took the shirts to another cleaner who confirmed that the shirts were both starched and improperly washed. This experience coupled with the complete lack of professional or courteous demeanor from their staff and management makes it very easy to say that we will NEVER recommend or use Hartnell Cleaners again. read more
