I went to Merry to alter my wedding dress. It just needed to be hemmed, so I left it with her expecting to receive a call 5 days later when she said it would be ready. Didn't receive a call but called her the next day (Saturday. It is closed weekends but I expected a voicemail but it was her cell) and she said she would get back to me Monday morning first thing but didn't. That was disappointing but once I arrived, the dress was PERFECT and she only charged me $38!! I will definitely be going again for any and all alterations. I brought very expensive materiel in for Merry to make curtains for my new home. We brought the measurements of each window, and she seemed to ask all the right questions but then she called me several times confused as to what she was doing, especially when she had already cut my bedroom curtains out only allowing a 2" hem which was ridiculous! I finally told her I was no longer comfortable that she could do the job and did not want to proceed (since she was charging almost $500 for the finished product). She had to nerve to argue with me saying she didn't think it was her fault. Merry, it's YOUR job as the professional to make sure you understand exactly what the job is BEFORE you cut the material!! I think I was gracious in allowing you to keep my material which is worth almost $400.00. So shame on you! read more

She is lovely and has helped in a pinch, but I generally only take her stuff that is a bit more complex than what I can do on my own. So glad we have her, hope we don't burn her out. read more

Had two bridesmaid dresses done. One if them turns out perfect. The other was horrible. The chiffon hem was done very badly. I know that chiffon hems are difficult, but you're a seamstress in business for almost 30 years. Plus, the dress was a high-low, that the bride wanted shorter all around. Well, it was hemmed so that it was no longer a high-low! When the bride called to say how bad the dress was, the lady first said she didn't hem the dress (but I paid $55 for the hem of a high-low dress, according to my receipt) and it is pretty obvious that the dress was hemmed. The bodice of the dress was also totally messed up, with seams that no longer matched and looked terrible. The lady then told me that it was my fault that the dress was wrong, and in her whole career she has only made one mistake and it ended up turning out better that if she had done it right. The woman never even said she was sorry! Wouldn't even admit that she was even a tiny bit at fault for HER work. We ended up rush ordering the dress and took it to someone else. It cost us an extra $250. And she never even apologized. Crazy. The poor woman is delusional. read more

I was married last year and my dress was a hot mess Merry, fixed it and made it fit me like a glove. Mary altered two dresses for me for my wedding, she is attentive and reasonably priced and did an amazing job on both dresses! Even after OKing the wedding dress and coming home with it, I still had a tiny problem with the waist (not having to do with her alteration, it was just the dress) and she took it back and fixed it no questions asked and did not charge extra. I needed 4 store-bought ready-made drapery panels cut down in length and width and took them to Merry. I explained in detail what I needed and followed up with 2 voicemail messages to further explain what each panel needed. I called today to ask if they were ready and she hadn't started on them even though they were promised by today. She called 3 hours later to say they were finished and I advised her I would be heading to pick them up. Upon getting to her shop, she handed me a bundle of wrinkled drapes and a bag of more wrinkled drapes. I asked her why she called the drapes in the bag extras? She said I only asked her to narrow one pair. I told her that I told her explicitly during my visit and 2 follow up voicemails what I needed her to do to 4 panels. She said she hadn't listened to her voicemails. (these were left on Monday and it is now Friday) She then said she has been busy. Then proceeded to add another $280 to the bill when she had already given me a price of $70 for the 4 panels. Needless to say, I left with the panels and will not return. If you have a business and a customer explains in detail what you want, speak up if you don't understand the instructions. Secondly, listen to your voicemails when a customer tells you I will call you directly to verify length, width, etc. No excuses for poor service. In the 26 years, I have been in design I have never had this type of completely shoddy service. In this case, I don't believe in 2nd chances. read more

Brought a pair of raw denim here to have the broken zipper replaced. She replaced it with a much stronger zipper, and it looks as good as new! She had it ready by noon the next day, and only charged an even $20 to do it. I'm very satisfied with her work! read more

Merry did a great job with my custom alteration. It was very difficult material to work with, but turned out great. The turn around time was incredible. She was very nice and professional. The building was not great, but that did not affect my rating . The rating was based on the things that mattered: easy to get on the phone , did great work, was polite / professional, got it done quickly, and price was very fair. Of note, she was so unhappy with her one bad rating that she explained her side. The person that asked for the alteration was a bridesmaid, and Merry did not know that the alteration she requested was not what the bride wanted. The bridesmaid got exactly what she asked for. The unhappy people were the bride and brides mother. The bridesmaid never did admit to the bride that she had made the alteration request exactly as it turned out. read more

I had a bridesmaid dress altered here and it was not a great experience. The dress was too big for me, so I needed the sides taken in. When I got it back, they had completely ruined the shape of the dress, it did not fit me at all. And the stitching on the inside looked atrocious, my mom is a seamstress and when she saw it she could not believe the job that had been done. It looked like the seam had been sewn over multiple times, which also added to the odd shape of the dress when I put it on. Thankfully, my aunt is a seamstress as well. The day before the wedding she had to completely take out the stitching and resew it so that it was wearable. When I asked the owner about the job that had been done, she looked a bit surprised but tried to make it seem like it would be ok. I'm wondering if they have someone else who works there as well who is less gifted at alterations. You might be safe if the owner herself works on your stuff, but I recommend specifying that ahead of time! read more

Mary is very kind, a fast worker and professional and she did a wonderful job on my wedding dress! I brought it in not really feeling very wild about it because it just kind of hung there on my frame and had no shape to it but she transformed it to fit me perfectly. I had the train cut off, straps made, and the bodice taken in quite a bit. She also somehow added more structure around the hips to create an hour glass appearance.!
