Had a big family dinner when I visited NYC. Excellent food and service. Wish I got some pizza but the kids got most of it.

Drinks were good, staff was attentive and friendly, the pizza was marginal at best dry and lacked a good sauce.

I continue to patronize and enjoy Harry's Italian on 2 Gold Street. Speaking for myself, I'm guaranteed a good dining experience. My friend and I planned a celebratory birthday dinner--hers in a few days and mine (just last week) and immediately thought of Harry's. The space is large, rustic and cozy and accommodates any occasion. For us, Harry's is like an old friend. An old reliable. Service was attentive including water refill. We skipped appetizers and ordered our main straightaway. I always find myself selecting the Chicken in the Oven with Eggplant. For an additional $6 I included a side of Spaghetti. As you can see from the photo, a huge portion. My friend followed suit only with the Chicken Arrabiata. It looked really good which I tried in the past as well. They don't skimp on portions--my dish included 3 Chicken cutlets. So delicious. A smooth Chianti complemented the meal. I walked out stuffed. From their Fried Calamari and Baked Clams to their Chicken and pasta dishes, Harry's is sure to please. Pizza is good too! Solid.

Good food, good atmosphere and service. Preferred vodka sauce over the bolognese. Typical open bar area with dining area to the left.

I first encountered Harry's last year during a brief dalliance with MealPal (a pre-paid subscription plan where you can order specific lunches throughout the week at certain establishments - definitely worth a look if you're working in the city consistently). They had a Penne Vodka lunch option that I grabbed one or two times for pickup. It looked like a decent Italian place, a bit hidden in the depths of the Financial District, and yesterday seemed like a good opportunity for a sit-down visit. If it hadn't been close to 100 degrees, I would have taken advantage of the pleasant outdoor seating section, which would have provided viewpoints of a pretty gentrified neighborhood. This is an area that's typically a bit congested with narrower streets than other parts of the islands, but this block actually has some space to work with. I stopped by around 1:30PM for a solo meal. If you're one of those people who is reluctant to go to a restaurant in the city by yourself, the chances are EXCELLENT that you will get amazing, primo service. I literally am batting close to 1.000 with this. I'm positive the restaurants are super nervous because by definition you have no one to talk to while you wait for your food. Their worry is your gain. It's a nice-looking place; you're probably a five-minute walk or so from the Seaport so there IS a bit of a touristy vibe here but nothing over the top - and for what it's worth, the vast majority of patrons I saw were clearly there on their lunch break like me. I perused the menu beforehand and settled on the lunch portion of the Gnocchi w/ Tomato & Basil ($16). I was provided with a free bread/oil combo to munch on while I waited, but the entrée showed up literally in less than five minutes. The bread was just okay - it's room temperature and honestly a little stale. I still had a pretty significant portion to consume once I finished the gnocchi, and I dipped it in the sauce rather than the oil, which tells you something. But it was still nice to have. The Gnocchi was solid - it WAS the lunch serving but it was a perfect portion for someone who accidentally had a cookie earlier. Have I had better versions of this? Yes; my all-time favorite is probably at E&V in Paterson, NJ, which has a melted cheese component that would have spiffed this up a bit, in my opinion. But it was good. I have a texture-based palate so I was a little suspicious at the thickness of the sauce, but it didn't cross the line for me - no giant chunks of tomato or onions to get me riled up. And the gnocchi itself was exactly the right consistency. I'd describe this as "mainstream" Italian - it doesn't have a homey, old school tablecloth feel but it delivers an above average pasta dish at least. And if you're a solo diner on a schedule, you can easily be out of here in less than half an hour.

When we entered, there was no one so we figured Service would be fast. I was server was very nice as he took our orders. Very simple.! We had pizza with arugula. It was OK I was not blown away, The Air conditioning was not working in our favor that day, and it was pretty warm. That was one of the reasons why we chose to dine indoors instead of outside. overall it was OK

Bowtie Shrimp and Asparagus Pasta

Ordered takeout. Flavor was nothing special. I can't understand why some restaurants don't put descriptions under their menu items. Luckily I like tomatoes but I would have never known this was a tomato based dish. I assumed garlic/oil based. Also it was more of tomato broth than a sauce. Millions of tiny pieces of asparagus. Shrimp were just cooked shrimp. No seasoning. Bowties were overcooked bc they were falling apart immediately as I started eating. My coworker was also unimpressed by her meal she ordered. Won't be ordering again.

Broccoli Rabe and Sausage

The food was decent. I liked the broccoli rabe and sausage orechiette better than the linguine with clams. The cocktails were great as well. Pretty casual place and good for groups to stop by after work.

From the moment we stepped inside, we received amazing service. In a good location, place was clean, and the servers were attentive. Glad we arrived at the time we did as it got super busy right after we were seated! Cons-The wings we ordered as appetizers were good, the mushrooms not so much (dry, no flavor). I had a LIT & a Paloma, couldn't taste the alcohol- just juice and coke... The entrees we ordered- hands down DELICIOUS. Full of flavor, huge portions that neither 4 of us were able to finish even half of our meals!!!! If this was home, we definitely would have brought our left overs with us and I am sure it would taste as it was just cooked!!!! Would definitely recommend!!! Good for kids, accommodating, good music, dimly lit atmosphere!

The arancini was a standout: perfectly crisp on the outside, creamy inside, and served with a rich, delicious sauce that tied it all together. We ended on the tiramisu, which was absolutely worth saving room. It was light, flavorful, and a perfect finish to the meal. What really elevated the experience, though, was the staff. Everyone was genuinely kind and helpful--especially notable for New York--and it made the whole evening feel relaxed and welcoming. A small heads-up: it's a bit tricky to find, so give yourself extra time. That said, the hidden, underground subway setting is part of the charm and makes the whole experience feel unique. I'd love to see more restaurants creatively use these kinds of spaces in the future.

It is located right in the hallway of a subway entrance, next to a bar and across from a coffee shop, and it somehow manages to feel like a cozy, sit-down restaurant right in the middle of NYC. Don't let the odd location fool you, the food here is outstanding. The Neapolitan and Sicilian-style pizzas are both exceptional, with rich, well-balanced flavors and perfectly executed crusts. Every bite tastes high quality. Also, don't skip the house-made lemonade! The experience is even better because of the incredibly friendly and attentive staff. They were all so kind to so many people. From offering to keep leftovers in the fridge until a customer was done at their broadway show, to offering a scone to a young child while he and his father waited for their pizza to be done, it was more than just flipping a table and onto the next tip, it was humanity at its best. Be sure to give See No Evil Pizza a try. You certainly will want to come back again for more.

We came here with reservations right after watching &Juliet across the street and the only problem was that I the dishes were so big that I couldn't order more. My wife and I enjoy a good meal but didn't research the size of the portions well. Thankfully our waiter guided us appropriately. We ended up skipping the appetizers and getting a chicken parmigiana and a half order of the rigatoni vodka! It was just enough for us. The chicken parmigiana was just right. It's their star and we can see why. The chicken was breaded well and dressed in the rich sauce and cheese. The breading was not overdone and the chicken was moist and tasty. The complimentary bread was helpful in mopping up the sauce. It was my wife's favorite for the night The rigatoni was my favorite and I regretted only getting the half order. I could have had another portion or two. It was the right mixture of flavor and texture. Next time, I'm taking a group of friends here so we can enjoy more of the dishes together. 10 out of 10 would come here again
