Harris Teeters across the area are generally great. For this one I wanted to just make a comment about the bakery. We have a bunch of birthdays in March in my family and Teeter really came through. They decorated three little round cakes with everyone's name and shamrocks for St. Patrick's Day. The quarter sheet cake also turned out great. They were so accommodating and made everything look great. Prices were also so reasonable. Also turned them around in only a couple of days. Thanks so much! read more

Horrible customer service! When I tried to order from the deli, the guy didn't use gloves and gave me an attitude the whole time. Additionally, at first, he didn't even want to help me. As soon as he saw me walk towards the deli, he immediately left and tried to hide in the back hoping that I would just leave. Harris teeter employees really seem like some real winners. Having lived in Reston, VA and having shopped at this location regularly before relocating and commencing to shop at the Old Town Alexandria location, I had always had a very positive experience shopping at Harris Teeter. The store is always immaculate and the associates are always friendly and helpful. This has not been my experience at the Asaph Street location. The associates are not very welcoming nor helpful. I asked an associate to warm my pizza but found it to be cold when I attempted to eat it. On another occasion, I attempted to return a steak to the Old Town location that I purchased in Reston when I was there on business two days before because it had begun to turn brown in my refrigerator. I spoke to the associate at the customer service counter who stated that I could only exchange it for the cut of steak at an equal price. When I searched for such a steak I found that the selection was very limited. A butcher gladly attempted to help me without success. When I returned to the customer service counter and explained the situation to the associate, she was very rude and dismissive, saying that she could not help me. I started to leave the store but remembered to seek help from the manager. When I asked to speak with the manager, the woman who had been engaging another customer when I first sought resolution identified herself as the manager. She was equally dismissive and refused a solution until I said I would write to the corporate office regarding the matter. Only then did she refund the price of the steak which was under $10. I commend both the Reston and Arlington locations for their welcoming, caring and competent customer service. I will not be shopping at the Old Town location again read more

I am a sub addict and have been for years. Recently l tried a sub from the Reston Harris Teeter and it was amazing. I got the club sub with cheese bread. It was incredibly good, with lots of meat, and other items. It was really stuffed. I got a 6 inch sub and I could hardly eat it all. The service was prompt and friendly. Same for the deli bar with their meats and cheeses. A great place for lunch. This is far better than any of the chain sub shops with their stingy meat and toppings. read more

A very high risk store with regard to Covid-19. Store managers are unable to enforce the face mask requirement. Encountered an unmasked customer in the store and reported it to management. A store employee reminded him that he needed a mask and he refused. The store allowed him to continue shopping and checkout. This is not the first time I've seen un-masked customers in this store. Both Walmart and Costco are able to enforce the face mask rules by having an employee at the front door and not allowing non-masked customers into the store. This should not be difficult. They have a decent variety of goods. The employees varying from those on the floor to those working registers/self check though need some work. In the past, they marked prices wrong on the floor, then when it's rung up and I corrected them with the floor price, they make a big stink about how that wasn't correct, that the floor people marked it wrong and it wasn't meant to be that price, then seem to regretfully fix the price to reflect what's on the floor, or managers leave in a huff telling the cashier to just fix it. Or today, the sushi was marked for $5, it didn't ring up for $5, and when asked for a price correction the guy looked at me like I was crazy even though the sticker was on it in bright orange stating $5. On the same note for the sushi: would it be too difficult to have consistency? Everyone always tells me how great the sushi is, and the couple times we've gotten some before, it hasn't been bad. But this time around, it's all falling apart, ingredients half hanging out of the back of the rolls, and minimal toppings. If I wanted regular California rolls, I would've gotten those...for this, I could've gotten the regular ones, grabbed a can of French fried onions, and made more topping myself than what they put on here. This is just a depressing box of crunchy California rolls that weren't really worth the $5 we paid. read more

This shopping center is not set up for a grocery store. There is only one area for you to push your cart into the parking lot. It is at the far right of the doors. The rest of the sidewalk has posts that block you from getting through. There are also no stalls to leave your cart. You have to push it all the way to the far end of the store's sidewalk and walk it back inside. This leads people to: First, leave their carts on the sidewalk in front of the entrance, go get their cars and come back to load. Second, leave their carts wherever instead of returning them inside. People should be able to walk and redo the right thing, but they don't. Seems like it would be a simple fix for the shopping center's owner. read more

During the pandemic I am shopping for groceries here almost exclusively. There is no line to get in. The aisles are wide and most patrons are wearing masks or keeping a distance. The staff are masked and keeping their spirits up. Monday half price pizza is a very good deal and there is free conversation too. It takes 20 minutes or you can call ahead for pickup. read more

Huge Selection, quality meat and produce, decent bakery, hot bar, and deli with a dining area (equipped with a vacuum-sealed dispenser wine bar where you can get a taste, 1/2 or full pour to try with your lunch), and nice wine selection for a grocer all in a clean, well lit environment. Pricing is competitive, especially using the VIC card program and the weekly emailed specials tailored to what you buy (VIC keeps track of your purchase trends and gives you discounts on things you actually buy). I normally don't care to review grocery stores, since they're all about the same, but there are a couple of attributes about the Reston Spectrum Center Harris Teeter that I think stand out and therefore merit an honorable mention. I recently discovered the wonderful world of ordering groceries online, which is an AMAZING time-saver, since I spend most of my time Yelping, and that's pretty tough to do while wandering the aisles of a grocery store while loading items into a cart. But seriously, folks...it is great, since we all lead busy lives. It's simple - and I don't intend this review to be a review of the website/interface for HT's "express lane" service - but for the accuracy, friendliness, and convenience of the service from this location. You simply order online, input your VIC card for savings, choose your pickup time, and voila! All items they carry in-store are shown online, and you entrust someone to pick the items off the shelves for you. While I wouldn't want someone else choosing produce for me, anything pre-packaged or non-food is a no-brainer. The time savings is amazing, and they bring the items directly to your car; you don't even need to get out of your car. After the HT rep loads your grocery order in your car, you hand over your payment and ID, and they process payment right then and there, via a wireless CC machine. SO EASY. Even when it was like 0 degrees last night, I got to stay inside my car while someone else took care of everything. It's was amazing, and the grocery loader/payment processor people don't accept gratuities! There's a nominal $4.95 charge - which is NO BIG DEAL for someone to do all of the picking, packing, and placing for you. Plus, that charge is waived for your first order! It's a very VIP experience and so convenient. I love being able to do everything online with shopping, and the Reston HT location is nice and great for "regular" shopping as well. read more

I had a small meal here, gratis. The cheese section (2), deli (1) and bakery (1) had four sampling stations. The one thing that was missing (and hence just four stars) was a fresh fruit or vegetable to top it all off. I liked the olive dip - it was light, and tangy with a touch of onion or garlic. I also liked the tiny roll of ham on a toothpick. Finally, the die-cut chunk of angel food cake hit the spot for a fabulous mini 3-course meal. In terms of actual purchases, the gourmet beer section had an interesting blueberry juice-flavored beer that I'd never tried before. Talk about a beautiful store. This place is just awesome. Don't know what took me so long to check it out. Maybe I should have done a bit more grocery shopping and not just lunch shopping to rate this place, but screw it, you're going to get my 2 cents anyway. The produce section was quite large and seemed pretty good, nothing too old looking and prices were very fair. The prepared foods area has a pizza area, make-your-own sandwiches (ill get to that), hot foods and a salad bar. The salad bar and hot foods looked pretty lack luster, but i didn't taste. The sushi area had some pretty HQ sushi, on par with whole foods. The sub/make your own sandwich was money. Straight up stealing if you ask me. I got a 1/2 sub, chips and sweet tea for 3.99. Delicious too. The best sub you'll eat? No. But it makes subway get on its knees and beg for mercy. I'll be back for this deal, and each friday is 3.99 footlongs, take that Five Dollar footlongs. The rest of the store was pretty awesome and i had 3 employees ask if i needed help. Try getting that at giant or whole foods (sometimes, but not always). My neighborhood grocery chain gets most of my business but I like to go to HT for fresh seafood instead of paying the inflated prices at Whole Foods. The guys in the back (seafood and meats) are hilarious. HT oftens has tons of samples (deli, bread, produce, DESSERTS) and cookies for the kids. Basic grocery selections throughout. As mentioned and as with other chains, use their loyalty card (VIC) on sale items to save a bushel. read more

This is my favorite after work grab dinner grocery store. They have replaced the Elden street Safeway I used to frequent. I really like the cleanliness, affordable prices and the bakery section. I also always find close parking. I even came late one Sunday night and was pleased to find they are 24 hours.Hard to find in quiet Reston. I always use my VIC membership card for extra savings. sign up if you haven't, it really does help to save.I am looking forward to trying their hot bar one day for lunch, it always seems like a popular choice for local workers. I went to look at the beverage as i was coming back i couldn't understand if i had to place my cart on the left or the right i kept walking and she looked at my worried face asked me if i was ready with a smile & took charge of my cart. I told her it was my first time in the store & that i was new to the area. She quickly pointed out Harris Teeters VIC and told me to go ask for a membership as she scanned my item. While your management was talking trash about some old lady she insulted i went back & Teresa explain the VIC membership & the 60 club !!! She told me to bring my grandparents to shop here on either Thursday or Tuesday i can't remember but she was very friendly & made my trip to Harris Teeter AMAZING! read more

Love this place! Great samples and plenty of them! Here you can come hungry, leave full and with groceries to boot! They have a great selection of hard to find and international foods. Great variety of fruits and vegetables. Employees were prompt and efficient. They seemed to invisibly walk the store restocking the shelves and filling in empty spaces right before I went to reach for something. My go to grocery store. Everything they have in the butcher/deli/produce is phenomenally fresh. In terms of grocery stores they are maybe 5-10% more expensive than other grocery stores but they always have quality. I frequent here weekly for my groceries and will continue to do so. I loved the service i got one time when i asked for recommendations as to what to pair a certain cheese with a wine and even when buying meat from the deli what types of cheese that go best with it... The only good thing about this Harris Teeter is it's the only thing open 24/7 in Reston. I'm sure there are more good qualities, but the Deli done messed up my hoagie cold cut sandwich...and that's not a good thing. The guy who made it "Sohrab" was eating and chewing food while making my sandwich. I didn't make a big deal, I just talked to manager after and let him know. They replaced my sandwich...except they forgot the cheese on the remade sandwich. Not a big deal, but I'm spending $7 for meat and cheese, not just meat. Self check out is not very easy there..every other item requires help from an associate which slows down the process and makes the people waiting at you give you dirty looks. produce needs to be inspected before purchasing, several times i will find fungus on berries. I am used to my Miami grocery store Publix, this stores layout seems a bit off. Does not make much sense to me. I do enjoy the fresh bread they bake there and the bread baker is always very nice. You get downgraded! HT employee talked me into a wine card that lets you sample, for a price, wines in a machine. Seemed OK to me, tried it out with wines that are unknown to me. Never noticed anyone else trying wine, until one day a middle-aged lady was there, nicely outfitted in daisy dukes and sipping on a glass of wine. I tried to say to her that it was nice to see someone else using the service. In a HT second, a lady manager showed up to ask lady taster, "do you need any help?" Surprised she said, "no." I just stared and then went back to the wine machine, where I discovered that my card no longer worked. Nobody came to MY aid, asking if I needed help . In frustration, I gave up, to continue my shopping, when I noticed, peeking around a corner, Ms. Daisy Dukes. WTF! Hours later, at home came revelation. HT probably had a surveillance camera that showed me speaking one sentence to this woman and immediately sent an alert like, 'Aisle Wine Bar! Stat! After this incident, I've thought seriously of giving up on HT. Seriously, they really made me feel like like a criminal once I understood what happened. They must have an overactive paranoia bug. Normally, the giveaway is a loud speaker announcement, "Security! Check Aisle #" I wager this is to warn any and all customers that HT is watching! Big Brother on a small scale. read more

The Yelp review: for when talking to a manager is blocked. Called my local Harris Teeter today to inquire after dry ice, the phone was picked up promptly in customer service by a woman whose name I did not catch and asked if they carried dry ice -yes- and if it would be possible to place an order for Saturday over the phone -yes, again. She placed me on hold. Around the eight minute mark of being on hold my boyfriend called from his cell and reached the customer service department to ask if the call could be circumvented all together and if we could place our order online, the phone was picked up by a man with an accent who promptly hung up on my boyfriend when he asked for pricing. Around this point I have been on hold for ten minutes and, for what I think would just be a fun little experiment, I stay on hold. I get dressed, get in my car, and drive over to my local Harris Teeter while their Lorde hold tone lulls me into a false sense of calm. I have been on hold for eighteen minutes when I walk up to the customer service desk after being directed there by an employee when I asked to speak with a manager, and ask if they have anyone on hold. The accented man that I did not speak to, apparently mistaking my voice for that of a 29 year old man's, says that he answered my question on the phone, that you cannot order online. I show him my phone screen and I think that I make it clear that the reason why I am upset is because I have been on hold for a full twenty minutes and, to me, that seems excessive. Especially when he tells me that it isn't possible to make a phone order in advance - leaving me to wonder why I was even placed on hold in the first place. I left. Agitated and dissatisfied, I hung up my held call which had still not been picked up, and realized that I wasn't going to receive resolution on the issue. I will be purchasing dry ice from this Harris Teeter - because there's no where else local that I would be able to. My other grocery purchases into the foreseeable future, however, will be made through a different chain. read more

I only go here if I'm in a pinch for 3 reasons: 1. it's way overpriced- everything costs more than it would at giant or safeway 2. there have been MANY times when I've bought or almost bought expired greek yogurt there- and I don't mean expired by a day or 2 but by WEEKS! I have happily shopped at other Harris Teeter locations for years as the extra cost of groceries has been worth the excellent customer service experience and the quality of food. However at this location, in addition to the awful design of the parking lot, I received horrible customer experience on each of my trips there over the past month, including food like bread and apples being banged on the register and bagged in a way that squishes it. Worse, I have wasted over $100 in groceries because the quality of their produce is awful. Mealy, spoils right away, etc. We will no longer be shopping at Harris Teeter. read more

I am reviewing Harris Teeter and specifically, Leslie, who was my checkout person today. The store is clean and well stocked. Leslie, was the fastest checkout person in the land. Accurate, pleasant, got you in an out as fast as is humanly possible. Then, when I forgot something, she hunted me down and got it to me. But the review is for her ability and speed and accuracy. The only thing I would improve in the store is the speed over at the Deli...super nice folks and effective, helpful...either not enough of them or some process could be improved. A very good neighborhood grocery store. Big store with a great selection. One perk that will be good one day is curbside pick-up. Just place your order online, pull up to the curb, and pick up your groceries. It does take them a long time to get everything together even after you show up, but I think it'll get better over time. Let me start this post with the best thing about this store...24 HOURS! That's hard to beat. Especially in Reston where, after 10pm, the only thing you can get is drunk at the Town Center. This Harris Teeter is super clean. I'm not too gung-ho about the produce, sometimes it's a little old and overpriced. I know I'm just spoiled by the Asian markets in Falls Church. I love the variety in the deli area, great meats and seafood. I have to also add that the staff is extremely helpful and nice. They are leaps and bounds past Safeway and Giant. The team members here are very friendly and helpful however I wish they had a better selection of produce that wouldn't spoil 24 hours later. On more than one occasion, I have purchased berries or an apple and find that a day or two later, it has spoiled. I'm not saying it has to last a week in my home, but more than a day would be great. Personally, I go to Trader Joe nearby for my produce. Their prepared foods section can been good if you go at the right time, otherwise you'll find that it's mostly a dry version of its former self. I also don't like that it's difficult to take your cart to the car to unload. I get that a lot of people are lazy and tend not to return carts but why am i being punished for the actions of a few? read more

Apply for a VIC card and check out the deli sub sandwiches & the "sub club" deal - every 1/2 sub is one point and every full (footlong) sub are two points... at 15 points get a free full sub!
