Wow, I couldn't believe it has been 3 years since my last review. I think Total Wine and More has the best selection of wines and spirits. Whenever, I am in Virginia I always stop by. The employees are so kind and helpful. I love their displays and the variety of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. The only thing that frustrates me, is their coupons. They say if you buy 3 bottles of wine you get a 15 percent coupon. But, when you get to the register they won't validate the coupon because they are not winery direct wines. I think that is misleading. But, given their huge variety of wines and beers,the great customer service, and the great prices... I know I will be back. read more

Every time I have come into this store the customer service has been great but I do have to bring up one issue. Few times, they have advertised wine tasting for different wines but the tasting is not setup. If you are advertising a tasting make sure the wine is setup for tasting. Only complaint. read more

My experience today at Total Wine Reston started at minus zero due to two very self indulged supposed leaders Nick and Elizabeth,who when I had to interrupt their conversation and ask a very simple question, Nick replied "check your app, it will tell you". (Oh and Nick was just hanging out in front the store when I arrived.). Well my app was logged out as I have been on travel for business for almost five weeks straight but I reset my password etc as and found my answer as they chuckled behind me, judging who they thought I represented. And, then what turned my zero to a total five star was a lovely lady named Gina. She not only answered my question but her concern to turn my experience into positive was above and beyond! Thank you Gina! Total you should hold on to this girl! She is amazing. Nick and Elizabeth- you should pay attention or perhaps consider another career that doesn't include customer interaction. read more

This is easily my favorite total wine in the area! The store is clean and huge with an excellent selection. They have everything organized in a way that makes sense and is easy to navigate. Staff is there to help if needed and those on the floor have always been knowledgeable in my experience. You really can't find better priced wine anywhere else. Decent selection of chilled bottles too if you're needing something in a hurry. Lots of beer options. Great rewards program that actually gets you real coupons pretty quickly. This is the best Total Wine I've been to in the area! Everything is clean, new, and organized. I like that it's organized by type of beer/wine, not by brand. I hadn't had luck finding a beer they were supposed to carry. I tried the Fairfax and McLean locations, but they were all out. I called Reston and the sales associate told me that they had plenty in stock but he'd put some six packs aside for me anyway. I came by the next day and they are there waiting for me! I also picked up a single of a Gose I wanted to try. I love that you can get singles or mix and match a 6-pack. I'll be back! read more

I've been here a hand full of times, and I can honestly say, both of the women who work on the cash register and beyond rude!! I've never had a pleasant experience with either. They've never asked if I found everything I was looking for even a "have a nice day". They are just miserable and rude! Jacob, on the other hand, was just delightful. He was extremely patient with me and spent a great deal of time helping me decide which wines to purchase. Due to Jacobs recommendations, I walked in for a bottle of wine, and left with seven....not complaining at all. He was truly listening to what I was asking for and made wonderful suggestions. I hope he gets a raise. He truly cares about his job and performing it to the best of his ability. If I owned a store, I'd want to Jacob to run it! He cares for it like it's his own. read more

This review is for their cigar store, which is inside their main wine store. They have a better selection than most of the local high end cigar shops in the area, with all of their cigars about 10%-15% less in cost than the cigar stores. Tryst also have some very high end cigars that even some cigar stores don't carry. Another nice thing is you experience none of the elitist or rude behavior from the staff that you occasionally encounter from the cigar shops managers. One difference is that the store workers probably don't have the knowledge of specific cigars if you want a recommendation or know little about cigars or just never have heard of Google. read more

This location seems to be a bit smaller than then other locations I've visited, but the service was phenomenal. Jay assisted us and made great recommendations. Respecting our dollar range, he showed us our options and he had a lot of information about the different wines. I came here because the website for a distillery in Florida advertised that Total Wine sold some of their products. Perhaps at other Total Wine stores, but not this one, which was mostly wine. But after checking the store out, I still left satisfied, having found quite a few interesting and favorite varieties of wine throughout the store. I love this place! At one time, this had become my legit go to Friday after work, pick up 2 bottles of red wine, kinda place. My goal was to get a better understand of what kinds of wines I actually enjoyed. So, I made an attempt to try 2 different wine bottles each week. I met with An older gentleman/employee, Bill, every time I went in. He is so knowledgeable and will actually spend time with you to provide the best product recommendation for whatever it is that you're looking for. I trust his judgement and overtime, he understood what I liked and remembered it. So every time I went in, he would make new recommendations to try. It's funny, it eventually became like I'd walk in, and the staff would call for Bill before I even asked for him! The rest of the staff is nice too. I stopped by multiple times for free boxes for packing when I was moving. Their small sturdy boxes are great for packing the heavy kitchen items. They keep them on the left side of the store and you can just enter and take them on your own. Another time, the lady at the cash register asked for my ID by saying "I know you but I still have to ask for your ID". It was funny. They're pleasant, friendly, and really knowledgeable. And they will remember you. They've got a great selection of wines and beers, including German beers. A few of them I tried while I was in Germany, so it's nice to have that over here! read more

Such poor customer service and order fulfillment. When did this company put profit over service? I order three items to pick up (a kit). I stopped in to confirm that my order would be fulfilled and ready at the date and time agreed upon, via my web order. They confirmed it. When I arrived at my pick up time, the manager explained they could only give me two of the three items that I order, that in fact they had given away my 3rd item to another customer earlier. (it was a kit of three items). The manager could not explain why, but did say "Don't know, I was not here this weekend." I asked if they could check with other stores in the area to see if the third piece was available, and they told me no, they could not do that. What? (I love being told NO on reasonable suggestions).They cant go the extra mile to solve the issue? An issue they created? They cant hold a pre-paid reservation for product? They cant fulfil an order and they cant help solve a problem? Total Wine has lost the idea that customer service is not important, their actions speak greater than their words. What is there not to like about Total Wine. They have everything you could imagine from Wines, whiskeys, spirts and beers. And what a selection of each one do they have! I was just in this store and was shocked to see that the mix of wines offered has changed from a mix of high, medium and lower priced wines to almost exclusively wines over $30 a bottle. You can find some that are lower, but it is clear that they want to cater to customers not on any sort of budget. I hope the whole chain has not gone in this direction. I will try the Sterling, VA location again to see. If my experience there is the same, I will not be shopping at Total Wine any more. I would have more selection in my price range at Wegman's, Harris Teeter or pretty much any grocery store. And Trader Joe's will meet most of my needs. read more

Newly opened. The store is very large and has a great selection. The staff is friendly. I only wish the store had a bit more of a keg selection or a quicker way of figuring out what they can and cannot get. I have had very little luck getting 1/6 kegs of anything that is not a very common beer. I do love that they have a wide range of beer you can buy in singles to mix and match and try new things. read more

I came to Total Wine to buy the beer and wine for my wedding. The beer ended up being the same price as Costco so it was very helpful being able to only have to make one stop to purchase everything I needed for my wedding. I am not a big drinker and neither are my parents so we turned to Josh & Peter for help. Between the two of them, they were absolutely wonderful! Josh spent time with my parents and I going over our budget and teaching us about the different wines that would pair well with what we were serving at the wedding.
