Ok as a former chef and one who likes to entertain, I frequent the grocery store, a lot. Moving back to the east coast (I'm from SC but lived far, far away) it was good to see familiar stores. Harris Teeter is definitely a southern thing, one that I enjoy. As for the employees, they're extremely friend and nice. As for groceries they have a rather large and diverse selection other than produce. The mushroom selection is sparse. Want to pick up some woodear, loose shiitake, Oyster, Enoki, etc? Not here my dear, although they do have shitake packaged. I've hunted for exotic fruits such as dragon fruit, Buddha's hand, Star fruit etc but they don't carry it. Otherwise they carry the standard fair which is more in bulk than variety. I will say I'm impressed with the seafood selection. Scanning the isle and see mahi, grouper, catfish (yuck), salmon, etc. I bought the mahi and it was very good, not old or stale at all. The best thing, is this is just a small portion of what they have. As for beef, lamb, chicken etc no need to spend to much time as they have the best selection I've seen in a store. Chances are they have what you need. My overall assessment of Harris Teeter is it works well for it's target group, middle class NC families looking for good prices on food that is pretty standard with having some "elegances" spread out enough to allow those who are adventurous to try something new. I am so sick of paying money for ROTTEN fruit. And expired foods. The idiots keep the freezers too cold in the back. What this does is as it thaws, it literally rots from the inside out. So the outside beautiful and perfect but open it/cut into it and it's not edible. Strawberries, raspberries, blueberries (feel firm at the store but it's because they are still partially frozen)single pears, apples, nectarines, peaches, melons, grapes, carrots, single peppers, potatoes....etc. maybe it's whoever is shipping store. I don't know but they need to fix it. I stopped shopping there for almost a year except necessities and recently went back. Now on top of produce they have expired goods on the shelf. Yogurt, snack packs, cottage cheese, freezer burnt appetizers, I purchased from their kosher section and nothing was edible. Publix is way more expensive but at least I know it's edible. This Harris's teeters produce is a disappointment. And when I've tried to help and explain their mistake they look at me like I've lost my mind. Usually I check dates, but I'm a full time single mom of two toddlers, 60 hour a week career, so most of the time I am ON THE GO. And there's nothing more upsetting them spending a hundred dollars on food YOU CANT EAT. I do not have time to make a return everytime I go shopping over rotten fruit. So over it. Back to Publix. This time is the worst because I'm right in the middle of a move and really needed to feed my kids. I could've gone to the donation center for rotten and expired food-----which a whole different terrible situation yall people donating should be ashamed of. read more

This review is for bakery. I needed a birthday cake but when I started going through the cooler all of the cakes said 'sell by 8/25 or 9/14 or 10/04'. Today is 10/20. I asked if they had any fresh cakes since everything in the cooler was way over due to be thrown away. They said "that's all we have and if you want a fresh one you'll need to order ahead." So, if you don't want a cake that is 2 months expired, make sure you can and order ahead guys! read more

I love this location. They have the olives and salad bar which I adore and spend way too much on. ‍ Staff is friendly minus one little rude twit this one time, but I'll let it slide. Lol I'm sure he had a bad day or something. I did have to venture to the bathroom once with a toddler and let's just say it was not a pleasant experience which is the reason for the star deduction. Their service is horrible. I will pretty much rate their service down their with Walmart. I switched to Harris Teeter years ago due to Walmart's poor service and now I've switched to Aldi's. I was utilizing the grocery pickup and the associate that brought my groceries didn't greet me, carried on a personal conversation with another associate while loading my groceries, and didn't even say she was done, she just walked away. read more

Eh. Harris Teeter isn't my favorite grocery chain...but it is okay. Produce is okay. There is no salad bar unlike the Harris Teeter close to my house. There are a lot of lunchtime options which include sushi, sandwiches that are made to order, and pre-made salads. Prices seem higher to me than other options. read more

Being from Florida, I prefer Publix but this place is not too bad. Fresh deli, bakery, huge wine aisle and all the other essentials one might find at a large grocery store. Service is good from what I saw. Good selection of locally crafted beers. read more

SUSHI EATERS READ THIS- so this grocery store is great. I am doing this review for the independent sushi shop in there. Do NOT eat sushi from here. Never knew this until today, but sushi is independently made and operated by a private person that pays booth rent there. Who would think this? Anyways. I grabbed my sushi and was waiting in line for sub. I observed unsanitary practices to say the least. The sushi maker, after cutting veggies with gloves on went to touch other items outside of that area in the market, went back to the back and touched other things. I tried my best not to say anything but as a nurse I can't imagine how sick people can become from this. Furthermore we are in the middle of a pandemic and you are serving uncooked food! I politely suggested he revolve and he told me he hadn't touched any trash. Wow. I explained that he had touched other things and should change his gloves. He did. I advised manager of store and he said he would address. Be safe guys but I wouldn't eat sushi from this store going forward. read more

Harris Teeter is extremely overpriced. Their produce department is quite bad considering their prices. I unfortunately have to go to HT because it appears they have a monopoly on some items. You have to use coupons & be a VIC member to get prices down to reasonable. As others have said the people in this location aren't as friendly as HT prides themselves. Standard supermarket! Prices Okay, but the customer service lacks hospitality. No one greets you or asked if you need any assistance. The guys from the produce dept. are a + . The ladies at the deli dept. just stand there looking at you as if you want something!!!! YEAH!!! I do want something behind the counter. No interpersonal attitude. I almost fell by the frozen food dept. on an open box that a worker was emptying . He looked at me and continued what he was doing. Not even moving the box or even saying "hey are you okay" NOTHING. I have never had any bad experiences at this Harris Teeter. Everyone is extremely helpful, always offer to take my groceries to my car and get me the best cuts of meat. Will continue to come here when Publix goes up! read more

Unlike every other store nowadays Harris Teeter has people to help you throughout the store. Food lion and Walmart are like a ghost town except for the cash registers. read more

The organize raspberries didn't last a day and I was only able to eat less than half of the container. The rest were spoiled. The following day I went to Food Lion and bought a container of raspberries, which cost less, and was able to eat almost all of the raspberries from the container. read more

It really stinks that this store is so close to my house and the employees there are so horrible. I have had issues with the butcher who was extremely rude to me and didn't want to give me chicken (he wanted me to get it from the case.. Which it is cheaper by the pound at the counter!). Also the lady on the bakery was rude and inconsiderate when I was trying to plan a cake for my sons first and they refused to give me a smash cake because apparently you have to apply 2 weeks in advance. I was so angry I cancelled my cake and got one from publix with no problem! it's such a shame bc I really like HT but the employees at this location are absolutely horrible! I would give the store itself 3 stars but the customer service is so lacking that its hard to do. I had a return and I did not have my receipt, Steve treated me as though I stole it and refused to return it for me. It was a Harris Teeter brand so its not like I bought it somewhere else. But because he could not find it on my VIC card, he not only refused, he rudely refused. Before this incident I shopped here still but I would try to avoid customer service. I think there is an unwritten rule somewhere that smiles are not allowed. When it first opened it was a happy, vibrant place, not it is a sad depressing place. I have not shopped here since being treated as a thief. I guess in a way Steve did me a favor by being so rude, I am now saving a lot of money at Food Lion! I love Harris Teeter but not this location due to the customer service! The staff is very unfriendly to say the least. The overall layout of the store is pretty nice but the staff ruin that aspect. I will drive out of my way to go to another location. The management staff needs to learn how to deal with the public and teach their employees the same. I will never go to this location again!
