The supermarket is very clean and appealing to the eye when you are shopping. The items are organized and labeled well. Associates are friendly. I love their pizza of the month deals. It is open 24 hrs which makes it quite convenient since it is near my gym. The only issue is the self checkout. The scanners are very sensitive it seems and it triggers for an attendant. Then if the attendant is with another customer and if you were next they tend not to see who was next but who is closest to them that need help. It is a hit or miss to save time. read more

Visiting DC and stoped to pick up some snacks for hotel room. Never have I seen such a ridiculous check out system! Clerks slowly pick up each item out of the customer basket, scan it and pack it. VERY SLOW. Lines were longer than I have ever experienced anywhere. I was tempted to record the process it was so ridiculous. Conveniently located in the Crown shopping center close to my house. They are open 24/7 and truly carry everything. They've even recently added green tea Mochi ice cream in their collection. It make me so happy because I use to buy them at the Asian markets, which is usually out of the way. I always come here for my bouquet of flowers. There is a very nice lady who is always there during the day, and makes the most beautiful yet practical bouquets! I can't rave enough about her. Sometimes this store is run acceptably. However, more often than not you'll find empty shelves, particularly in the prepared foods section. Don't stop by on a Monday morning because they definitely won't have what you want. Even worse, the employees are rude. Last week I had a cashier refuse to ring me up, and told me I had to wait until a new register opened. Sorry, totally not acceptable. If your little light is on and you're the only cashier open, you need to check me out. There's a Safeway and a Whole Foods market both about five minutes away. Go there instead. read more

I came here twice and on both occasions I got something that was bad. The first time, I bought two gallons of milk. There was a week to go before they expired but as soon as I got home and opened it, it was spoiled. And not the "just turned" spoil but full blown bad. That was really bad considering I had two babies waiting for milk! The second time I came, I bought a yellow seedless watermelon. Again, I cut it up as soon as I got home and sure enough, the inside was white, milky and spoiled. I know things like this occur, but to happen on two separate visits with two separate types of food- that was enough for me. I feel really bad too because I really wanted to like this store! UPDATE: I bought a gallon of milk on 5/14. It's expiration date was 5/30. As a habit, I checked the milk before giving it to my babies and sure enough it was spoiled. It's only 5/26!!! I went to the grocery store yesterday, and the "helpful" cashier who saw me go into a row and then come out and then go into her row asked me if I was new to the store, I said no. She then explained to me that it works best if you go into a row where the light is on, and I said yes I understand that, and the light was on but there was no cashier so I turned around and came over here. She goes oh yeah he must have left a light on when he stepped away. May 14 was my daughters 17th birthday and I did not have a present. As I was headed home from work, I decided to give her some cash in her birthday card. My bank branch was closed at the time, so I hit up the ATM and took out a hundred bucks, which I got in 5, not so new, twenties. I went to Harris Teeter, bought some flowers etc and went to the customer service desk to see if I could change my twenties for ideally some crisp new bill in a larger denomination. I received a $100 bill from "Tony". When I got home I went to iron the bill, as it had a few creases and low and behold, the steam made the ink look funky. I looked up online how to ID a counterfeit bill...the results weren't making me happy...I looked up what do you do if you have come into possession of a counterfeit bill...notify local Police Dep't... Within two hours of receiving the counterfeit bill from Harris Teeter, officers from Montgomery County and City of Rockville were sent, both of whom looked over the bill and confirmed my suspicion. I received a biz card and a report # from the MoCo officer who took possession of the bill. (MoCo PD procedure was to turn counterfeit money over to the Secret Service.) While waiting for the police I called Customer Service manager Tony who indicated he recalled our interaction and would report the situation to management. On 5/22, having NOT heard from management I called the store and spoke to manager Donald Boggs who said he was aware and that someone would be in touch...click. Heard nothing for another week+. On 6/8 I went to the store to find out who was the ultimate store manager (apparently I have been dealing with junior staff managers). This time I got Assistant Manager Karl who told me that Big Boss Tony Vettese was The Guy, but he was on vacation, so again I explain my complaint, he heard me out and promised to get back to me by the following day. Today is 6/20/20 I am very FRUSTRATED and ANGRY by their collective lack of empathy and failure to make things right. No offer to refund my money. No offer for store credit. Nothing but Crickets. I asked Don't you have procedures to check all big bills..".. "Well Yes, of course..." All I know is they don't follow their procedures. SO BEWARE Well some of you may be thinking maybe I am making this up and pulling some scam. OK so now you're on the jury... ask yourself this: if I'm a scammer, how many times do you think I can pull this scam and get away with it? Go here for your dining experience rather than the crappy restaurants of Crown Plaza. I still have to dock a star because it is located in Crown, but other than that, Harris Teeter is a great supermarket. There is a bunch of on-the-go, fresh-to-go items for people who are on-the-go, fresh-to-go. The hot food bar is appetizing and produce is fresh. I like to order something from the hot food selection or deli and get a fruit: an avocado, tomato, apple, or orange. I am rarely an on-the-go person; I just don't like the restaurants of Crown. Sometimes, I would go to Harris Teeter after I begrudgingly agree to eat out at a restaurant of Crown to appease my friends. Last night, I came here after eating at Paladar. The problem is I need 1.5 entrees to be adequately filled and there is no good, cheap snacks anywhere in Crown a la 50 cents Samosas at Metro Dhaba. The hot food bar was closed when I went there so I had to get creative. I thought sushi at first, but it was too expensive so I bought a kaiser roll, avocado, and tomato and made a dope sandwich all for $2.00. I LOVE THIS HARRIS TEETER! I work right across the street and go here almost everyday. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food it always fresh. Their hot bar is great as well as the salad bar. Some of the prices are expensive but if you have a VIC card, you save so much money! They are open 24/7 so it is also a great place to go for late night munchies! I recommend their breakfast bar for a nice hot breakfast. read more

When I was living elsewhere (Virginia), I rarely shopped at Harris Teeter; it was in 2 locations with bad parking. For some reason, this kind of soured me. But this place has a large parking lot and easy access off 370 and near a couple of my favorite department stores (Kohl's and Target). The produce is fresh and looks attractive. With a Vic card, you can get some bargains. The meat department had ground veal and all the usual chicken, beef and pork. I've seen this in other Harris Teeters: a special place where they age cuts of beef. I've tried it (very pricey) but did not succeed in producing a steak that tasted delicious. I either don't have the kitchen equipment or the know-how. I tried the self-serve checkouts -- these are still a bit buggy. Twice it charged me a second time for the same item. Must be set too sensitive. Also putting items in the bagging area didn't work well. read more

So they are in the new Crown community right off the Sam Eig exit of 270 or the end of ICC. They are huge and super clean!! I love their hot foods section, they have a ton of selections like Wegmans and a little Boar's head section too. Their flowers are always beautiful and for my little baby, their balloon section is pretty plentiful unlike other grocery stores. What I especially love is their customer service. Everyone seems so happy to be there and I always seem to have a lovely chat with people there. An extra bonus is to Justin (and manager Jan)! Every week I volunteer with Manna Food center's smartsaks program where we deliver food for kids on reduced/free lunch so they can have food to eat on the weekends. Well, we need bags to deliver these so I went to ask if they would donate any (I use about 40 per week). Justin hadn't heard of my program but from the get go was welcoming and willing to help. That's great service! They ended up donating 2000 bags!!! This mean so much to me and especially a lot to the elementary school I work with. Way to go above and beyond guys! read more

One of my go-to places for lunch! I love coming here to see what's on the hot bar. And it's easy to grab a few groceries for the house, since I'm already in there. The food is always fresh. I love this place. Granted, I live within walking distance, but still. It's huge and sparkly and has great variety. The produce section is generally my make-or-break for any grocery store (which is why I don't even bother with Giant anymore) and the variety and quality of the produce here is consistently great. The deli / sandwich / sushi / bread / pizza stations are also good if a bit too tempting. I worry that the place will be overrun with crazy once the million or so adjacent apartments are finished, but for now they get 2 thumbs up. read more

Bathrooms are always a mess. I don't think anyone cleans them. They are clogged, toiled paper everywhere. This is so disgusting.

While I'm not a huge fan of Harris Teeter per se, I really do like the relatively new store in Downtown Crown Gaithersburg. It's huge, very well laid out, super clean and well-stocked, and every employee with whom I've interacted there has been very friendly and helpful. Because of its size, it carries a wide variety of healthy and organic foods that are hard to find anywhere else. I'm sure as the neighborhood fills in, the place will get more crowded. But so far I've always found the lines to be short and the place easy to navigate. So I guess I'll enjoy it while I can! I recommend you check them out. read more

Family and I found a new place to shop! We moved here a few weeks ago and was not happy with the selection of Giant! Clean, produce fresh and reasonable prices and weekely sales. So happy we found Harris Teeter! Plus we signed up for the VIC card right away and found out you get FREE sugar cookies at the counter. Awesome savings with the VIC card.... Also take advantage of Thursday nights between 5-8 (not sure if that's right) the prime rib special is $9.99 Big hunk of prime rib with 2 sides and don't forget to grab your au jus and horseradish dip! My definitive supermarket (I only wish it was closer so that I could walk there, but alas...). Pros: Great meat selection, competitively priced cuts of beef and of high quality (I never had any complaint), and also a great prepared foods selection (fried chicken for those nights where you just don't want to cook). The produce selection is far superior to the offerings at the Safeway in King Farm (near where I live), especially for avocados - definitely worth the short drive to come here. Also, it's open 24 hours. Cons: Do they block cell phone service when you go inside? Granted, they have free Wi-Fi but I hate having to go from the back of the store to the entrance just to send a text or make a call to confirm with the boss/wife about which type of pepper she wants. read more

In the beginning of Covid I went shopping here and purchased a medium size dog flea and tick prevention product. When I got home I realized it was the wrong type for my dog so I went back to return it that same day. They apologize to me and said that because of Covid they weren't doing any returns. They said to come back in a couple of months when they lifted the restrictions. Today I found out that they were excepting returns again so I went back into the store to return it and because it was past their 60 day rule for returns I was not allowed to return it. On top of not being able to return it I was treated horrible by the customer service representative and the manager at this location. The fact that I had a completely unopened product and waited like the women told me months ago and was treated so poorly during these tough times, I will no longer be coming back to this store. read more

This is my first review that I've changed from 1 to 5 stars. This place has improved in all areas, and their salad bar is a good deal, several dollars per pound cheaper than any other grocery store. They usually have good deals on fish, and I got an amazing thick cut ribeye that was marked down 5 bucks that served as last night's dinner, smothered in mushrooms and onions. Anyways, I am giving them an extra star and a half for them helping me locate my lost wallet. A store employee immediately dropped what he was doing to look at the security footage to help figure out what had happened to it. That kind of thing is never forgotten in my book. Not going to write a long review for this one since this is a grocery store that you can say they have some good and bad things you'll face every time you go to every grocery store. But I guess my reviews is never end up short lol This review is for all employees that work over there that has a very sweet attitude. Minus one heavy dude over at the cheese bar that make me wait for a never made pizza that he told me to come back in 30mins twice and he never even start with it. Other than that everything is totally normal. He told me it will be ready in 30mins then when I come back he was still standing doing nothing and he was like.. oops when he saw me come back, then he told me to come back again in 30mins (no biggie!) I was at the pharmacy waiting for my prescription refill, came back there still no pizza. I look at him and he look back and said I made it and the guy come and and pick it up I though you were together! I'm like.... seriously dude. I've been here all by myself for like 10 zillion hours ago and all of a sudden there's some random guy with me? I was so pissed with him but I didn't say anything and just left. Worst pharmacy service in Maryland. I've been trying to get an important medication for a week now. First they called and said my prescription was ready when it wasn't, but didn't call back to say it was a mistake. I had to go into the store to find that out. Second, instead of proactively calling my doctor's office to double check that it was a dose increase they just waited until I came in for the false call. THEN they told me I had to call my doctor to ask for the override that was needed by my insurance in order to fill the script. The pharmacist could not understand that I need this medication to function on a daily basis and that I don't have enough medication from my last prescription to last me until the end of the month. She was no help AT ALL and the assistant was more concerned with texting behind the counter than helping me. This not the first time this pharmacy has screwed up by giving me the wrong medication, or not being proactive and forcing me to be the middle man between the insurance company and my doctor. Oh, and the '15-minute guarantee' is bullshit. They can't even do the most routine refills on time. I"m severely disappointed in Harris Teeter, a company that places such high value on customer service, for how their pharmacy is being run. Stay away if your medication is vital to your health and wellbeing. read more

There is a very slow checkout, because all the cashiers are new and they never know what they are doing. Then when the cashier called for help, no one came leaving me standing there waiting while my food spoils. The cashier called for help 3 times and no one came to help her. The self-checkouts arent ever working properly. Very long lines at the self-checkouts, which is unusual. Also, no one helps you on the sales floor. They are allergic to work here.
