When they have their steak specials that's when we buy steaks otherwise not their butchers are fantastic they can help you with seafood salmon steaks whatever they have in their case and they can make recommendations and they can cut meat to your specifications. read more

We come to this store at least once a week. The store is usually pretty clean and I have never had any issues with the employees. The store is not hard to navigate either, but sometimes items can be hard to find, or online might say it is in stock when it isn't. Sometimes the meats section does seem a bit limited on precut meats, but we are not that picky usually. I do wish they did have a bigger variety of ethnic items. My main gripe is that sometimes the self checkout can get pretty backed up, mainly because the machines always error out and there is only one employee usually assigned to self checkout. It does seem like they could use another section of self checkout machines, maybe even an express line aside from self checkout. read more

The Teet is my go-to grocery store. With all the weekly specials, Meal Deals, double coupons (sometimes triple!) and lots of BOGO Free and Buy 2 Get 3 free deals they have on a regular basis, I have absolutely no complaints about prices. More often than not, I can shop here cheaper than anywhere, including Wal-Mart (which I refuse to set foot in anymore). With my VIC card, I can load coupons straight to it and get e-Vic specials in my email with some really good door-busters on the weekends. The key to saving anywhere is to shop smart. But they're really no more expensive than any other grocery store to begin with. Their prepared foods are pretty great, especially the pizza! $7.99 every Monday... it's really good pizza at a great price! You can call ahead to order one or grab one to take and bake. You can always just grab a slice too. The sushi section is really good. The subs are awesome... all Boar's Head meat and they have a sub club that I've used for years. Different ones are on special every day too. One of my favorite parts about any Harris Teeter is the meat and seafood selection. It's nice to be able to walk up and just buy a couple of what I need instead of having to buy big packs of the prepackaged stuff. And it's a LOT cheaper than the prepackaged items too! Being able to just grab one crab cake or one burger when the hubs is on duty or on deployment is super convenient for me. One of my favorite additions, though, is the build your own six pack with craft beer! It gives me and the hubs an opportunity to try out new beers without taking a chance on a full 6 or 12-pack only to find out we don't like it. It's pretty fun to create your own beer tasting at home too! They've got quite the selection that rotates so check it out! The ONLY reason this location doesn't get 5 stars from me is that, while Harris Teeter has MUCH better produce than just about anyone, this particular location seems to get picked over really quick in some parts of the section. It needs replenishment more often. But I do love that they carry produce from LOCAL farms! read more

I can't believe that this store doesn't have better reviews! The meat Dept, the Deli Dept, bakery, specialty cheese section, produce and Floral ALL have such great service members. Always so kind, professional, knowledgeable and fast. And I can't go anywhere else because they ACTUALLY have on average 5 to 7 lanes open to check you out and an active rep at the self check out! I Despise def check out when I have a large cart load and they are always pumping through getting the lines down. I have NEVER Once waited with more then 1 to 2 customers in front of me. They always have the unique items I'm looking for and everything is always fresh and clean. WHY doesn't this store have a 5 star rating?? Beats the heck out of me! read more

I just moved to Hanbury Road last year in Chesapeake VA and prefer to get the best quality meat in town, so I know that I want to go to Harris Teeter; even though I know my other items will be more expensive there, it is a sacrifice I make to enjoy my shopping experience because I know that Harris Teeter employees are held to a high standard. However to my dismay, the Hanbury Harris Teeter is like no other Harris Teeter I have ever shopped at. Whenever I shop there, the rude employees stand idly in the way of the crowded produce department and do not acknowledge mine or any other customers presence. I doubt that they even work in that department. On a few different occasions I have been ignored at the meat counter, and have been told condescendingly that I can "take my time because all he was trying to do was complete his job." I'm not particular concerned with what he is "trying" to do, I just want my meat and to get home to my family. On another visit, it wasn't a holiday, or a natural disaster event, yet the entire bread aisle was empty, clearly an oversight. I was not the only customer confused. I ran into another dumbfounded customer searching like me for a simple pack of hamburger buns. All we could find was an 8 count package of brioche sliders that was incredibly overpriced. On today's visit, I and my fiance were treated VERY rudely by our cashier. She ignored us and spoke with her bagger for at least a minute before she immediately, without greeting, as well as interrupting my greeting to her, asked to see my fiance's I.D and did not ask for mine . She refused to scan the Coinstar voucher I had just freshly printed out at the store to put towards my total, and directed us to customer service. I promptly took the receipt to customer service, holding up the line while she was side eyeing me and rolling her eyes at me. Afterwards when I got back to the register penchecking my $50 bill, she insisted for a manger begrudgingly over the P.A, embarassing my fiance and I, as though we were criminals! He looked at it and laughed very briefly , said thank you, and walked away. He didnt even really look at it, it was a joke. I will never shop at this lacation again. I will get quality cuts at Central Meats and I suggest that everyone else does the same. read more

Used this Harris Teeter on Hanbury Road in Chesapeake to pick up a few items while in town. The cashier, Sharon, seemed peeved we were wearing mask to start. She was basically "surly". She visually rolled her eyes when my husband attempted small talk to be friendly. Also never a good idea to assume someone is a "Senior". The cashier, Sharon, made a point to point out she had applied the Senior Discount. Seriously?!?! We will use self checkout next time we are using this Harris Teeter. read more

Worst looking roses just in time for Valentine's Day. Every petal on every rose had burnt/wilted black tips. Several were moldy. I've been buying roses for 30 years and these were the worst I've ever seen. How could they charge $40.00 for awful roses? I found better at another store down the street and they were much cheaper. Great Harris Teeter to go to on the way to the beach. They carry a few extra things that other stores may not carry such as beach chairs, towels, mats etc. and most of it is reasonably priced. They also have a pretty good selection of freshly made food and alcoholic beverages too. Use their self checkout if possible because a lot of times their regular lanes back up and their employees are not really in a hurry. Overall great location and nice store. read more

The Hanbury Road location is one of my favorites even tho the fried chicken from the deli was abnormally bad today. When I called to describe the black bones, strange taste and appearance I was extremely pleased that Sarah (the manager) made me feel as tho she cared...going above and beyond to make it up to me. When I return with my receipt (the next time) I've been offered compensation in a very kind and thoughtful manner. While in the store I earlier I overheard a lady purchasing crab cakes in the fresh seafood department. Matt offered to wait on me and told me his all time favorites are the signature lump crab cakes which cost exactly twice as much as the Charleston style crab cake. I decided to buy both to compare the flavors. I ate them both side by side and It was like night and day. The signature lump crab cake are delicious! The flavor is perfect and the crab meat is generous. Their wine section has everything you could ask for but it's much more expensive than most stores. Pretty good selection as well. I remember the first time visited I this location they had pulled pork in the deli...buy one get one free. It was so tasty that I returned for more. Harris Teeter is still the store that everyone thinks of when in search of hard to find items. I'd recommend the store highly and will return frequently. read more

WE recently moved to Moyock,NC and tried the Food Lion here..Just a glorified 7-11.Decided to try the Teeter and love it.Yes a little pricey but has everything we need and more.Also excellent customer service with lots of great selections.I also like the smaller size of the store.Easy to navigate.One note however..Produce department needs a bit more attention in freshness and cleaning Found rotten melons,overly soft peaches,and onion skins all over the section where they are stocked.Overall well run store. read more

I am addicted to their online shopping. However, I do struggle with feeling either like a smart full time working mom who uses my time wisely, or just a lazy person. One downfall to this service is that there is some kind of glitch to their online shopping app; for the first 10 times I've ordered my groceries, they continued to charge me the $4.95 even after I've paid for their monthly. They gave me no hassle about it though and was very apologetic. Anyhow, they have the best organic produce and food options. They also have a good selection of international foods. read more

I love this store and they always have some pretty good sales. Especially the buy 2 get 3 free deals! It's always clean and the people that work there are always very friendly and helpful. The pharmacy is quick and you can shop while they fill your prescription. It's not a standard grocery store so you can expect to pay a little more but the fruit and vegetables are always fresh and there is always a selection of meats, etc. the cakes are delicious and is my "go to" for birthday cakes or special occasions. They can create anything you can imagine and are always willing to try! It's a great grocery store! read more

Addicted to the online shopping/express lane. Wow!! You shop online while in your pjs or laying by the pool and select the date & time you want to pick ip your groceries! You drive up, push a button and the happiest employees in a grocery bring them to your car, put in your trunk and you pay with your desired form of payment! They take coupons too! If for any reason they don't have an item you've ordered, they call you to offer something similar at the same price you were given! If you get something not up to your 100 percent satisfaction, they replace it & refund you!! The staff is as friendly as the Disney characters at Disney World!! read more

Way, Way, Way over priced! How do they get away with their prices?? I see nothing about this place that justifies the gigantically inflated Prices in comparison to the competition ( Farm fresh, Food lion, Walmart ) A 30lbs bag of dog food at Walmart and Farm fresh, $30.. At Harris teeter, $40. A box of popular frozen hamburger patties at Walmart $8.99... At Harris Teeter, $12.99. The list goes on and on. And, every single time I go into this place they are either out of, or just don't carry things that I commonly find at other stores, there is nothing more frustrating than going out to a store for something and they don't even have it.. I've never had that problem with Walmart and as you may see in my review below, I'm not a huge fan of Walmart BUT Dang man, how can I justify spending so much more for the same exact product?? It's not like H.T serves Wine and Caviar at the door, no body takes my coat and hat at the door, I still have to walk aisle to aisle with a cart just like every other store.. From here on out, I'll drive the extra mile or two to go to a better, cheaper store like Walmart or Farm fresh... Even food lion is better in my opinion. read more

This review is only for the seafood section. Any other time I order clams, they check to see if the clams are alive or dead. This Harris Teeter for some reason, does not. If I order 2 dozen clams, I will probably only end up with a dozen that are alive. Another time I wanted to order clams and all the clams in their case had their tongues (foot) sticking out and were open. They looked horrible and dry! I asked the guy if these were dead and he said they were just thirsty. I don't know about anybody else but seafood isn't something I gamble with. Since then, I have gotten my clams from both Farm Fresh and Whole Foods, and they look at each clam to make sure they are still among the living. read more

I shop at the Hanbury Harris Teeter a couple of times a week, I like the selection of items,I usually buy a couple of Rotisserie chickens every week,it seems like there is a real inconsistency in the way they are cooked,sometimes, they don't seem cooked enough,and other times,like today,they are WAY overcooked, I had to call and ask if I could bring my receipt in tomorrow and get my money back,this chicken was so dry and overcooked, it was terrible!! They told me no problem, they would refund me for it and they apologized. I just don't understand why every chicken isn't cooked the same amount of time! The chickens are smaller than at Food Lion,but more often than not they aren't cooked enough either,so hopefully, they will look into this issue and fix it! read more

Customer service is supposed to be HT's trademark. In recent visits, I have not found it so. I am handicapped and need an electric cart to get around. Most were unplugged and dead. I asked the service manager why they were unplugged and he said he didn't know they were. I found one 1/4 charged and pressed my luck to get around the store. True the choices of produce and products are great. That's why I go there occasionally. Found employees were unhelpful as I searched for some products. They just ignored me as I obviously searched. The aisles were full of large carts filled with product to be shelved. Give me good old Food Lion where everybody says "Hi!" and leads me to my search and the aisles are nice and wide. They may not have everything but produce is fresh and abundant Their Electric carts are always charged too! read more

I'll cut to the quick. Harris Teeter is better than Farm Fresh but not as good as Whole Foods. The place is clean, efficient (quick on getting in and out) and has a pretty good beer and wine selection. However the self check-out registers aren't the best and often cause a headache when I'm in a hurry. Overall I give it a 4 Star rating and thankful its convenient to our home. read more

This is still a great service to have but as it's becoming more popular, the service is suffering a bit. I now get more items missing or subpar selection on some produce items (more bruises on apples or occasional mushy moldy clementines) Not a huge deal bc they try to compensate for the mistake but it's just happening more frequently now from when I first started online shopping a few years ago. I now just try to include a note that says please do not get if you see any mold or apples are in bad shape, etc. read more

I only shop here with my coupons and love it. They make couponing so easy. I avoid processed foods as much as possible so I pretty much just shop the outer edges of the store. We have been HT fans since the day they opened. Lately it has been difficult to get fresh lettuce and shelves have been completely emptied by food pantries wiping out their inventory for customers that want to buy a few units of something. Speaking to the managers has no effect. We have to go to other stores now to get something as simple as a can of tomatoes. The manager says they can't limit purchases. Why can't HT make a special deal with the pantries where they order just for them? Very disappointing. read more

I absolutely LOVE Harris Teeter! Their employees are the most polite and courteous of any grocery store I've shopped at. The customer service alone makes me want to shop there. Yes, at face value, their products are more expensive, but once I use my VIC card, coupons (they even accept competitors coupons), and their sale items, I end up saving more money and getting better quality than at any other store in this area. Plus, the convenience of the Express Lane is HUGE! I can order online and have my husband pick up the exact items I need on his way home from work (no phone calls about what brand or size). He also likes that, after a long day of work, he doesn't even have to get out of the car. I still love shopping in the store too, though. The store is always very clean and smells inviting. Harris Teeter is definitely our go-to grocery store! read more
