We recently stopped by the Harris Teeter located on Greenbrier Parkway, near the corner of Volvo Parkway in the heart of Chesapeake. This is a very well stocked and well organized grocery store. The staff is always friendly and helpful if you're loo for a specific item. Unlike many grocery stores, they have both self service (if you're in a hurry) as well as full service cashiers. The produce section is especially nice with both the selection and quality of their produce. This is definitely my go to place for groceries! read more

I only visited to buy an ice cream cake and ask for it to be personalized. That is exactly what I got! The process was quick and easy, and I was happy that they could write on a cake that their bakery didn't specifically make themselves. The writing turned out good, and I was glad they fit everything neatly on such a small cake. This is the worst grocery I've ever been too. Check the dates on EVERYTHING you buy because there is a 90% chance it's either expired already or going to expire tomorrow. Not hard to tell when they sell rotten meat with a sale sticker on it at least. You'll get fresher groceries at the food lion across the street, which is something I never thought I'd say. Whoever is running this store is doing an abysmal job. The staff are fine and nice, they're just following orders. Very convenient location. Employees are always very helpful and courteous. Every time that I have been to this HT location and needed to find an item before I could ask out loud an employee was there ensuring that I was finding all of the items that I needed. Many times I've found items at HT that I could not find at any other grocery store in the area. I LOVE the salad bar and the hot food bars here. The food is always fresh and items are always stocked. This is a super large Harris Teeter and I really only stopped in for some snacks and drinks for the hotel room this evening. The store is open 24 hours and even on a Sunday evening, they're still clean and bright and very well stocked. Produce was looking particularly good and the wine section is probably one of the best selections I've ever seen in a supermarket. Meats, cheeses, deli, all great. While in town visiting a relative I decided to try this place because my relative told me they had great salad bar. This place resembles Kroger which is popular in my home state. This place to me was very spacious and had plenty of options to choose from. At the salad bar, it was various different toppings and vegetables to put in your salad. Beside the salad bar they had already prepared foods to select as well. It charges based on the weight of the salad. You can choose from small to large. Since I was hungry due to only eating pretzels on the flight to Va, I got the large salad choice. For me it was a healthy option and I didn't get that "I'm full" filling after eating it. Let me start by saying I RARELY shop at Harris Teeter for groceries since the prices are a bit above my desired range. However, I do frequent their Asian bar during lunch and it is absolutely yummy! I get the shrimp dumplings, broccoli and the teriyaki chicken. It has never let me down. I prepare my container, go to self checkout, the code for the bar is on the outside of the container, I pay and I'm out the door in 10 minutes or less. My only critique is that sometimes the items I want aren't out right at 11 as advertised and so I end up going somewhere else for lunch. However, I think they've gotten better about having it out on time over the past few months. If you haven't had it before, it's a must try!! read more

I often go here on my lunch break to grab a salad, so my review is biased a bit toward the salad bar area, and the refrigerated kombucha selection. I have shopped here for groceries, but only a fraction of the times that I've grabbed a quick lunch bite. The salad bar is for the most part, well stocked. Sometimes the mushrooms and sliced cucumbers get a bit stale or the red cabbage gets soft, upon which lunch is somewhere else that day, but for the most part it's fresh. What's not to love about this store. They have a great deli area and their cheese selections are great. Try the bourbon flavored cheese! The have a very good sized hot bar with wings, soups and a very nice salad selection. Basically, if you need grub this is the hub. Some may say their prices are higher than others like Aldi but their selections and freshness are unmatched. read more

This is a standard Harris Teeter. Nothing amazing about it but it is centrally located in a pretty big shopping center area. The parking lots can be crowded during key times around holidays or before snowstorms so be mindful of that. Inside is clean and well-stocked with friendly employees who will happily point you in the right direction if, like me, this isn't your usual HT and you can't find hummus. Haha. Last tip - self-checkout is your friend if it's snowy and you only have 4 items. Believe me. Lines with people stocking up for the apocalypse are too long for that! read more

Been a long time since I stopped here for lunch however I did yesterday for $5 Friday and had half of a club sub for lunch. I thought things were going kinda slow as we stood and stood in line, until the guy at the front of the line walked away with no less than 3 full subs. Once that obstacle was out of the way the line moved normally. The sandwich is huge and I split one with a buddy. We paid for everything over at the self pay register and then grabbed a seat one one of the 8 to 10 tables available in by the windows. Honestly, fancy grocery stores always scare me. I feel like I am walking in to a sacred land of the unknown and I am going to come out a whole different person on the other side. Everyone here is incredibly friendly. The selections are amazing and I love how things are labeled for certain allergies or cultural eating selections. They had exactly what I was looking and even stuff I wasn't, because duh, you can't go to the grocery store and just get what you were looking for. Haha.. The prices were a little steeper than what I am used to, but they offer a discount card as do most places. I love shopping for deals and they had plenty. The store itself is very clean and easy to navigate around. The staff was very helpful when I couldn't find something. Many reviews mention the decline in the quality of the deli over the years. This used to be my go to for fresh hand dipped fried chicken. Pre-pandemic they started to show issues miscount and shorting pieces of chicken or just randomly giving you all dark. It just seemed like integrity went out the window. Gave them a chance after 3 years today they are still at it. Bought an 8pc only to get 7. It's not worth considering this deli especially if your looking for fried chicken. We just tried the bakery for the first time for an event and the cake was actually really good! People kept taking plates and saying "oh this cake is actually good" after bites. The store is pretty great in general but we have certain low expectations for grocery store bakeries and this was well above. I'll be getting more cake for the next event. read more

Stopped in to check it out and get my bearings on places to shop. Actually got some good steaks on sale $7.99 for "USDA Choice Premium Angus". Never heard of it. Looked good. I went to Harris Teeter's to purchase items for my dinner and when I got to my house, there were two items missing I call Harris Teeter I talk to the manager. I Splaine her the situation were I was missing two items in my bag she say I am going to check! for it at the store well she just hang up the phone to me. I call back nobody answer then I went to the store and I talk to the manager on how upset I was because she hang up the phone instead of putting me on hold or asking me for my number so she can return the call back. I have call back few times! No answer: I am already a upset customer and in top of that you hang the phone on me!! I was been nice on the phone and trouts this situation.. I went to the store I spoke with the manager she explain to me that she was new, she have been there three days on the job, that she comes from another Harris Teeter that she was sorry that she hung up the phone to me.. Apparently she say the phone was new to her and that she didn't know how to put a call on hold.. (excuse,excuses and excuses) Because it was different than the other store phone, were she worked with.. I'm pretty sure every phone have a hold button, that say the word hold. In that case if you are not familiar with the phone, then you should ask for the customer number in case you get disconnected with the client is comment sent!! Instead of coming up with a excuse of I don't know how to use the phone!!! Me: Then you were not trainer on how to put phone call on hold, those new Manager needs to be trained on how to use a Harris Teeter phone, because that is not a excuse for you to hang up the phone to a customer that it's already upsets!! because when I got home there were stuff missing that I have purchases and pay for!! now I had to make another trip to the grocery store.. Yes, the prices are higher at this chain than most of the others in Hampton Roads. But there is a reason for that. Food Lion may offer cheaper items but I wouldn't set foot in any one of their locations. The place just makes me feel dirty. Harris Teeter gives you what you pay for and if that means you might be looked at as a snob then so be it. I prefer the term "snob" over "slack-jawed". To illustrate my point, they have a parmesan cheese that comes from only white Italian cows and retails for $40.00 bucks a pound. I know it is pure marketing bullshit but I bought some anyway. And you know what? It tastes great! I made a veal and pork ragu a couple of nights ago and smothered it in this parmesan at serving. It was a hit! Every scrap was gobbled up. But here is the code cracking secret. The VIC card (stands for Very Important Customer...more marketing assholery) gives you all the deals. I don't buy any of the high end stuff unless it is on a VIC card special. Even the Parmesan was $10.00 off per pound which still left it in glorious snob range. The seafood and butcher section always have specials and I save a ton of money on things like rib-eyes and Alaskan King Salmon. The deli at this store even recently added a fresh pizza station that offers pizza by the slice or whole. And you know what? Its good. The only downer is that no matter how you look at it, it is not Whole Foods. But lets all admit it...watching a foodie walk into Whole Foods is like watching Carrie Bradshaw walk into "that" closet during the "Sex and the City" movie. Let me start by saying I didn't fully appreciate this place until about an hour ago. Harry Teets is a grocery store.. and to me, a grocery store is just a grocery store. Sure, it's clean and has a nice selection of organic stuff, but it's still just a grocery store.... THAT SELLS PIZZA FOR $2.50 A SLICE. This is huge. Two dollars and fifty cents. Nothing mind-blowing about the price there. But the quality of pizza coming out of a place where you're suppose to be buying Captain Crunch and Top Ramen? Goodness. If you know anything about me, you know that pizza sauce runs through my veins. This will probably be my new favorite place to hang out. As for the actual experience, the lady who served me my slice was nice enough and the pizza area was clean and well stocked. I also picked up a cream cheese muffin and HT branded green tea with honey and ginseng. Purchasing the goods also couldn't have been any easier. Now listen, I'm no stranger to self service checkouts... and maybe I had some sort of pre-pizza high... but can someone please tell me how that little scanner machine KNEW that I got a single muffin just by weighing it?? Their prices are very expensive. Their services average they are polite and help me find what I need I always feel welcome here when I visit Virginia Beach. It is a great place to go if you need a dessert or quick snack. But for every day shopping I would use a Walmart or Kroger. read more

One of my favorite grocery chains of all time. They carry organic, free range, cage free and also specialty foods to make your next home cooked meal! Their produce also is fresh and smelling great. Their bakery section is great, many gorgeous variety of cakes, deli items, breads.... They carry organic meats, eggs and fresh flowers. If you're liking for an 'out of the ordinary' ingredient...chances are they probably have it. They carry so many groceries on both ends of the spectrum. The workers and employees are courteous, helpful, and knowledgable. We always save a lot of money using the VIC card and it always is surprising to see the actual amount saved. This Harris Teeter is a nicer option compared to going to Food Lion across the street. My mom said they are expensive but I only go there for a couple of things, so I don't really notice the difference. During the day there is always several cash registers open. Their deli and pastry section is awesome :). I had an annoying experience ordering a cake. The woman taking down my order seemed very annoyed with me. I felt like I was bothering her. She repeated back what I told her though and everything was fine but when my mom picked up the cake we discovered that the frosting was not what I had ordered. But other than that everything was fine. I find myself going to Harris Teeter late at night pretty often. The woman manning the self check-outs can be a little rude but it's whatevs. read more

This location is close to work and easily accessible to me. As stated in some of the other reviews, it is a little pricey than some supermarkets. But, you get what you pay for in some cases and in other cases you get the same thing in a different package. "The Good" - One of the few places with a decent fish counter, with fresh fish. - Decent and large selection hard to find items. - As one of the other reviewers pointed out there are lunch specials. but there are also dinner specials that you can order and then pick up on your ride home. - VIC Card, decent saving but I really do not like being stalked. - E-mail updates with specials for the week, in case you missed the supplement. "The Meh" - Just the prices, briefly mentioned above. Some of them are worth it and some not, you just need to do some homework to figure it out mostly on individual taste. "The Bad" - They have a funky checkout system that you do not take your items out of the cart. Not sure if it is bad or meh yet, I may update if I get used to it... until then its bad. read more

Decent variety and overpriced organic food. Make sure you get their "VIC" cards to receive the discounts. Take a close look on their products labeled as "organic". We found Taco Shells that they were charging $6.99 for and had labeled as organic. When we looked at the box, nowhere on the box did it have the USdA certified organic stamp. read more

Harris teeter always has a great selection of fresh food. They even have a curb side pickup for those in a hurry. The staff is always nice and accommodating as well. Did not have good experience. Went to seafood counter at 6:45 PM and was the only one there to be waited on. Saw employee washing items in the deep sink but he never looked up. After 20 minutes went to manager to ask if seafood counter was open. She talked to someone on her head set but could not get an answer. Will be getting seafood elsewhere. read more
