Although they remolded this grocery store to look like Wegmans. They have lost the competitive edge in pricing. I have shopped here for many years. Finding pricing lower and very competitive with the other grocery stores in the area. Now I find they are for the same items anywhere from $1.47 to $3.00 more for the same items as others. The perks are ok , we do get coupons off in the mailbox. But still a considerable price increase here. Thinking about not making this my go to grocery. I spend about $500 to 700 a month here. I find I save $18.00 for the same items when I go to Target. When I go to Martins in Indiana I save over $38.00 for the same items. They always ask you to round up. I do not do that anymore. HT can lower the prices by at least 12 to 20 %. Those who shop there now are paying for the total remake of the store. Suggestion to HT. Lower your prices !!! read more

We do not live in the area, but whenever we visit Pittsboro we buy our groceries from Harris Teeter. At home, we use Publix but there is not one in this area. Recently, we used the "Order Ahead" option for our Thanksgiving feast. Being from out of town and spending the holiday with an older relative, there was not time or an opportunity to cook. This was definitely the next best thing. One initial complaint was that it was difficult to find the online order form for our particular store. After calling the store and being transferred several times, I finally had an answer. I think the problem was that they were advertising this service but the form had not been posted online for this particular store. Once the form was posted, I had no problems. We ordered two turkey dinners with sides. Our sides were the mashed potatoes, the green bean casserole and the sweet potato casserole. The meals also came with dinner rolls. The turkey and green bean casserole were delicious! One suggestion, add your own seasoning to the potatoes. They were kind of plain. Also I wish that the sweet potatoes had come with mini marshmellows, but this is something you can add if you want. For what we got, I felt like the price was reasonable, and we had a party of 10, mostly men, and there was enough food for everyone. When we placed our order, we were able to reserve a pick up time. Since we arrived late Tuesday night, I was glad they were open on Thanksgiving. It was very convenient for us. I'm sorry but there is no way this is a five star Harris Teeter. The problem is plan and simple. They are struggling to figure out demand in the meat / deli section. We are here on average 1 to 2 times a month and have to constantly double check the lunch meat. Often it is already expired, but still of the shelf. I am sure the new demand from the growth of North Chatham County has been challenging, but just check your expiration dates. Also, this place is so busy it is nearly impossible to get in and out quickly, even if you are only picking up a few items. This makes me sad as I am a huge Teeter fan, but this store has real challenges. The only reason we shop here is that there is nothing else comparable in North Chatham. The two stars are for its convenience before the Covid pandemic as it's across the street from my house and used to be open almost all the time (and even was 24 hrs/7 days at one point). The produce is ok sometimes but often is so waterlogged that it's spoilt. It's been probably 10 years since I've seen edible cilantro or parsley there because it's always soggy and rotting. Any vegetable that has greens to it is going to most likely be inedible. Since coronavirus they have been pretty bad about taking care of their patrons. Not much social distancing efforts, no mask requirements and no requirement that customers must use pre-sanitized carts inside the store instead of just grabbing one outside. You would think they would be responsive considering half their clientele are old people from either Governor's Club or Farringtin but nope. read more

Would give zero stars if I could. Worst place to shop. I'm rather traditional & I feel like basic decency to all people, wealthy, poor, old, young, etc is something everyone should strive for. This place treats people they think are lesser than, like shit, wether an employee or a customer. This is not one of the better Harris Teeters. But it is a common theme with their chains. Also, I've actually had to close some of the holding lockers walking in, that held customers groceries. I'm sure someone really appreciated that! Harris Teeter at Chatham Downs has gone from bad to worse. Their vegetables are so wilted and rotten. Stop the spraying, it only rots them faster. As for the deli section , there is one woman who although nice, doesn't listen to how you want cold cuts sliced. There seems to be less and less people there lately, so that we seem to always get stuck with her. Overpriced store for what it's worth. Will just go to Lowes now. read more

During 20 minutes of shopping at Harris Teeter Chatham Downs, beginning at 6:30 AM, I encountered six employees and vendors either without masks, with masks hanging from their ear, or with masks covering only their mouth. One shopper in the liquor aisle also had no mask. After asking three employees to wear their mask properly, I sought out a manager. I first found an assistant manager in the produce section. He and his colleague were both completely without masks. This was more than a half hour after the stored opened. Me: "I sought you out to let you know your employees are not respecting the mask policy, but you're not setting an appropriate example yourself." Asst Manager: "The store just opened and we haven't all had a chance to get our masks on yet. If you weren't tying me up, right now, I'd be going to the office to get my mask." (Interesting that they feel free to potentially spread the virus before store hours.) I complete my shopping, encountering others, one pushing his mask up over his nose, saying "Have a nice day." When I pass him again, the mask is back down. After checking out, I seek out the store manager. I tell him that six of his employees are not observing the mask policy and a shopper is maskless. Manager: "Sir, we're doing the best we can. The masks get uncomfortable and sometimes the employees need a breather. What do you think; I want to catch this? I've got an 80 year old parent. You're basically telling me I'm not doing my job." Me: "I'm telling you your employees are in violation of a statewide and storewide medical guidelines during a pandemic. I'm telling you you're not doing your job well enough. I'm telling you need to do more to enforce the regulation." Clearly, leadership at this store doesn't sufficiently appreciate the need to compel its employees to abide by their own sign out front that states everyone must wear a mask to enter the store. I had great success with Harris Teeter Chatham Down's delivery service after my surgery and during covid. However, I ordered delivery groceries April 2023 and they never came. I got a text that the groceries would be late, then I got a text that the groceries would be delivered during my working hours. It took speaking to 2 HT managers, 4 staff, downloading yet another application and speaking to an oversees call center to cancel my order. I was surprized to hear my refund would be "loaded onto my Vic card" and could not get a cash refund for the groceries I had never received. After 1 hour total, I heard I would get a refund in 5-7 business days from Instacart. No where on HT's delivery screens do they say Instacart is involved. HT also does not say that Instacart will deliver your groceries whenever Instacart wants. The answers to my questions from HT employees were incorrect. I find this deceptive and not what I am used to at all from Harris Teeter. I am a shopper there since 1991. HT- you may want to meet with Instacart to negotiate better customer service and then educate your employees. read more

The Express Lane Online Shopping can be frustrating, particularly on Thursdays since there are normally items that are out of stock. What adds to the frustration is that if the dollar value of the order drops below $100 due to out of stock items, the customer is charged an Express Lane Fee. read more

I only go to this Harris Teeter when I have to.. I prefer the ones in Apex or Cary.. the customer service here is terrible.. I have encountered twice Customer service person, Mike and both times he is lacking in personal customer service etiquette.. this past Sunday I brought in a salad mix, Fresh Express Kale, that has been on sale for $2.50 but paid close to $5 each for three bags. I checked the price when I got to the Harris Teeter and it showed it was 2.49.. I went to the customer service desk and I had the receipt that showed I paid the higher amount and showed it to Mike. While he is helping me, he proceeds to then get an employee her name tag while I am waiting. No, excuse me, do you mind if I get this employee a name tag.. just ignores me while he prints out the name tag. Then scans said salad and said - it scans at 4.79 or something around there. I tell him the price tag over in produce says 2.49.. his response? Oh okay.. the Walmart a few miles north is looking better and better every time. I am a Harris Teeter shopper and have been for quite a while. Something recently jumped out at me that is very disturbing. The weekly specials always look great - with things like Buy one Get one Free. Buyer Beware! I have confirmed the prices are much higher than normal when BOGO is in effect. Take a look at mayonnaise this week. Compare the per jar price at other stores like Food Lion, Wal Mart and Lowes. Their regular prices are between $1 and $2 less for a quart jar. A pretty good, but typical HT (in a good way). It's always clean, neat, and the staff are friendly and helpful. My one complaint--expiration dates on the dairy products can get sketchy. I've spotted yogurt past the "use by" date several times. Haven't seen old milk yet, but it's been close enough where I didn't buy it because I wouldn't finish it in time. Like the store...just wish the Store Manager would beef up the store's FIFO program. read more

I always go to this Harris Teeter for my vegetables and fruits since it is always top notch, but today it was horrible. The Roma tomatoes were moldy, flattened, that was normal and organic, habeneros were just as bad mold severely bruised, and just plain blah, and when I brought this to the produce guy attention he got smart and nasty towards me. I proceeded to tell the manager and you would have thought I kicked a puppy for the way they were acting, so in all my glamour I told everyone in the store how rude the employees were and tell everyone how the food in produce is moldy. Customer service is non existent here. Went to the self check out attempted to use a coupon and it immediately went to "help is on the way". Even though my machine went off the employee went to everyone else before me. When he finally came over he didn't speak just kept trying to clear the machine with his little piece of paper. He kept entering the wrong price on the coupon and kept sighing. When I told him he had to put the correct price in he sighed again. Finally after putting in the right number he just walked away. If that's the standard of service then I doubt I want to spend my money here. read more

Okay I had to take the chance while it was here to be the first to review this Harris Teeter. Life is now complete. Game over. Seriously, I wanted to review the Starbucks in here. I go there just about everyday. I get the SAAAMMMEEEE thing. I do not know the names of the girls/guy(s) that work there but they all know me by name and greet me by name with a smile every time I go in there. This is half the reason why I choose to spend my money at this location. Today, Christmas Eve, I went in and the line was SOOO long. I seriously felt bad the for the employees. However, they totally kicked butt and owned the situation with a smile on their faces the entire time. The woman in front of me made a snide comment when we first got in line about how long it would probably take. When we both made it to where we were waiting on drinks she turned her attitude around and talked about how fast they were. I have never had a bad experience with any of the employees at this place. There are a lot of local coffee shops (names withheld) that should take a field trip here and take notes on how to treat customers. I've heard that there used to be a stand alone Starbucks in the area. I wish there was one but I am more than happy with having one at the Harris Teeter. I live in Sanford and someone had recommended me to get my daughters birthday cake at a Harris Teeter which is 25 miles from my home. While I was there I also got deli meat. I had asked for "roasted turkey breast" and somehow I ended up with "smoked turkey" which no one in my home cares for. On my way to get my car serviced by Chapel Hill Tire in Carrboro I decided to stop in and return what was left of the meat and explain what had happened. I was approached at the Customer Service desk by a gentlemen named Mark (and the only reason I knew that was his name is because I heard a coworker at the deli say his name)He asked me if he could help me, I explained myself and with no hesitation, he offered me double my money back and proceeded to ask me to follow him in the direction of the deli. At this time he asked the deli associate to please give me a pound of the roasted turkey at their expense and made sure she knew I received the wrong item on my last visit. It was a perfect, positive experience and I could only hope that Harris Teeter makes it way towards Sanford because I know for sure I would not have gotten that service in my town at any other grocery store. Worst place I have ever been!!! I just recently moved to the area from south carolina, and this store is the closest most convent place to buy groceries, or so i thought. I walked in to see a free cookie case, which had 2 little boys sneezing all over the cookies, totally disgusting, i almost threw up. Shopping cart in hand I ventured over to the produce, where i saw an employee drop something, look around, then thinking no one saw him, try to camouflage the team back within its nest of what i can only assume was more things that have been dropped on the floor. I kept going over to the deli area where i waited for 20 minutes while this very rude man behind the counter kept glaring at me between each customer, when he finally got around to speaking to me, his greeting was " what do you want" in a very unflattering tone. I told him my order of cheese and sliced turkey, he then rolled his eyes at me and proceeded to act like i just told him to drag a cross across the desert. I then left the deli and continued my journey through out the store. After I paid i noticed a starbucks I must have overlooked initially due to the children sneezing all over the free cookies they provide. I thought to myself, well Ash at least after this experience a nice latte will ease the pain.... NOPE, i was greeted by a girl named crystal, i remember because her attitude and demeanor were terrible, she kept her hat in front of her eyes the entire time and spoke to me like i was burdening her. I have been to countless starbucks in my lifetime and have never encountered someone as off putting as her. On top of that they somehow managed to make the latte wrong! I was in shock and disbelief. At this point i just wanted to flee as fast as my legs could take me. I will never return to this store and I hope everyone who reads this will think twice before entering this atrocious excuse for a grocery store. read more
