I tend to get migraines, and I remember once, years ago, I was in the middle of a migraine and was out of my medication, and I was in too much pain to go to the drugstore. I was responsible for: my aunt; a combat officer from Nam; a close friend who had chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) for 15 years. [She actually became happy with a diagnosis of cancer- because she finally had a "real" diagnosis]; another close friend, my mother, my son & my ex-wife. I have been in VA Hospital pharmacies, regular Hospital pharmacies, pharmacies in NJ (including the old time Pharmacy in Westfield, NJ where I grew up), the old time pharmacy in Chapel Hill down toward Carrboro (right side of Franklin St) that vanished decades ago, the 24 hour CVS in X Plaza (where I met a woman who never smiled in my sight for 7 years), & the old "dope shop" on Ninth St in Durham. In addition, since I traveled as a wetland delineator, I have been in Rite-Aids, Walgreens, & CVS pharmacies all over NC: including the Manteo CVS (helpful, well stocked) and the Nags Head CVS (not well-stocked, but still helpful) and a dreadful CVS in Jacksonville (who have joined the general incentive there to separate the Marines from their money as quickly as possible). I've been ignored, snapped at, stared at with no comprehension at all, had the legality of my own doctor's prescription questioned ("Where did you get this?"), & overcharged. I have been told "I'm sorry; this is the only manufacturer we have in stock." & "I'm sorry but that medication doesn't exist." & "I'm sorry but Medicaid still hasn't cleared this. Maybe tomorrow they will. Can you come back then?" & "We don't stock that. Can you go to the CVS in X (a town 30 miles away)?" Carrboro Family Pharmacy in Carrboro Plaza(at 104 NC Hwy 54 Ste J Carrboro, NC 27510, 919.933.7629) has always been reliable, well-stocked, polite, extremely knowledgeable, & helpful with any confusion I had about my meds or their side effects. I've had very few problems with anyone, or any medication, at Carrboro Family Pharmacy in Carrboro Plaza (from clerks to pharmacists). If I did, they have immediately tried to fix it, and they have either succeeded, or found another road to reach my goal. They accept my goal as their goal. I can easily discuss manufacturers with them (certain generics don't work with me) and they have special ordered more suitable manufacturers for me at no extra charge. They are easy to talk to; have easy access to the pharmacists from the front; you can talk directly to a full pharmacist (not some kind of PA); and you can tell that they care enough to want to deliver top notch professional assistance to you concerning your meds. Not at all like the idiot-staffed BS I have always experienced with the oligopoly that has taken over the entire drug market in North Carolina (Walgreens & CVS). Carrboro Family Pharmacy in Carrboro Plazacombines old-fashioned customer service with swift proficiently using all the 21stcentury tools. Further they have a helpful staff that combines concern, compassion and unfailing politeness with knowledge & real ingenuity in fixing problems that arise. I've been converted. I'll never go anywhere else again. (Humana mail-order can take a flying leap into...) Go there & you will never again be "helped" by someone who glances at their watch before they look at you; then looks at you with eyes showing just a hint of intelligence (& no interest at all); & then asks you in a monotone "Kinihelppu?"

I have changed to a local pharmacy because it's a lot easier a lot less waiting easier to communicate and more reliable. Also no waiting in 45 minutes lines. CVS is horrible not just this store but all their stores. If we don't support these giant corporations treating us like garbage and then either they'll close or they'll change. If you go inside just pay attention to the pharmacy hours as they close for lunch daily and you'll be waiting for quite a while. They have many things advertised on sale upfront and for convenience, they have self check out upfront, which I thought was helpful. The staff was friendly and helpful at this location.

I call him Dr. Botch Co. He botched a routine "simple surgery" on a family member for achilles…read moretendon repair. My family member was infected with osteomyelitis due to his surgery and and surgical decisions. Dr. Botch Co used a cadaver tendon which increases likelihood for infection, and the tendon dehissed(popped through the sutures)after surgery. My family member had to be reoperated on again by Dr. Botch Co for his original poor work(possibly due to improper suturing technique). The second surgery took 4 hours(way too long) to perform further increasing likelihood for infection despite Dr. Botch co having all of the information needed(imaging etc.). My family member has since had to endure a: 103.9 degree fever, PICC line placement, vancomycin admin through PICC for 3 months, medication induced lupus, lower leg neuropathy, hammer toe and toe amputation since the negligent actions of this doctor. My family member is not overweight and does not smoke or drink and this idiot steered him spiraling into a list of medical problems. He inflicted permanent decreased quality of life(6 years now) due to his ineptitude and slow surgical skills. Avoid him if you value your life and its quality! I don't know how I'd live with myself if I were him.

The 501 Pharmacy is a dream come true. It is a small pharmacy that revolves completely around you - the customer! If you have ever dealt with a hospital, your local supermarket, any kind of drug store or even a doctor's clinic in trying to get your prescriptions filled in a timely manner, there often is a level of frustration that goes along with the process. It's not that way at the 501 Pharmacy. They truely do everything in their power to try and give you a positive experience. For example, if your doctor called in a medication you needed for the flu, or medication to help you recover from your surgery. Great. The medicine is at 501 Pharmacy, but you just can't get there to pick it up. NO worries. 501 will deliver it to you. Has CVS, Harris-Teeter or Walgreens ever offer that to you? They will call your insurance company if needed. They will even tell you if it would be cheaper to pay cash instead of useing your insurance. Not sure if they take your insurance? Check out their website or call them at 984-999-0501 and ask. They would check it out and let you know. If you presently don't need any refills or other medication it's still worth checking out the place. They serve Maple View ice cream!!! You can go in and get an ice cream cone or if you are in a hurry, use the drive thru window. Han and his new, independently owned pharmacy are top notch! I remember him from where he formerly worked and am thrilled he is now in the neighborhood! As always, he is super friendly and knows all his customers by name. He transferred my prescriptions to his store and immediately notified me when one was not carried by his distributor. He promptly arranged for it to be filled elsewhere. He and his staff are helpful, caring and personally attentive to customers' needs. They even deliver! And serve ice cream! I feel as if I have gone back in time to the small town pharmacy I went to when growing up in a small, Southern town. I cannot recommend this place more highly. read more

Absolutely outstanding service, expertise, professionalism and client service. Han and his team were incredibly accommodating when one of my family members had an illness. They had some anxiety and confusion around taking their meds, so Han suggested a fantastic pill pack/blister pack to keep it simple for her, which has worked wonders for her. Nothing was too much for 501 Pharmacy, including redoing her pill packs multiple times as her prescriptions were tweaked. They've made a huge difference to quality of life for my family. A friend turned me on to this locally owned and operated pharmacy and it is one of the best things I've done for our household this year. They are pumping out prescriptions like a well oiled machine. They are ready almost immediately, it's fascinating how quick and adequate they are, and the communication is excellent. I use the local rx app to send inquiries and someone is always paying attention and replying promptly. Super satisfied, staff is 5 stars, conveniently located. what a delight, it was such a pleasure to patronize this pharmacy, a week before i went to cvs to pick up tamiflu for my two toddlers and they were so impersonal and devoid of any empathy. yet when i walked into to 501 Pharmacist Han was pleasant, courteous, very friendly. Don't underestimate the value of a responsive, caring neighborhood pharmacy. Although our insurance requires using mail order for chronic meds, they are not always reliable. When they erred, Han filled the scrip immediately so I would not miss a dose. He is always available for medication counseling or advice. 501 Pharmacy will always be our go-to pharmacy whenever possible. read more

I am warning people stay well away from a Pharmacy that LIES to potential customers could do serious damage to people's health in future.

They fill our prescriptions so quickly - by the time I leave a doctor's appointment just 5 minutes away they are already calling to tell me my son's prescription is ready! When I reorder prescriptions online through their website they take care of them super fast and either follow up by email or a call to let us know they are ready! Prasanna will seek out deals for us, to make sure we are not overpaying. This is a HUGE help, and other pharmacies do not typically do this! They will order over the counter medications for you if you just call and ask, and then follow up with you when they arrive! Prasanna is so friendly and nice and greets us by our names every time! During COVID-19 they only allow one person in the pharmacy at a time and want others to wait outside, staff are always masked and wearing gloves and they have a plexiglass shield at the register. I feel as safe as I can during this time visiting this pharmacy. Thank you to Prasanna and the Southpoint Pharmacy staff for making filling prescriptions so easy and stress free. I was responsible for: my aunt; a combat officer from Nam; a close friend who had chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) for 15 years. [She actually became happy with a diagnosis of cancer- because she finally had a "real" diagnosis]; another close friend, my mother, my son & my ex-wife. I have been in VA Hospital pharmacies, regular Hospital pharmacies, pharmacies in NJ (including the old time Pharmacy in Westfield, NJ where I grew up), the old time pharmacy in Chapel Hill down toward Carrboro (right side of Franklin St) that vanished decades ago, the 24 hour CVS in X Plaza (where I met a woman who never smiled in my sight for 7 years), & the old "dope shop" on Ninth St in Durham. In addition, since I traveled as a wetland delineator, I have been in Rite-Aids, Walgreens, & CVS pharmacies all over NC: including the Manteo CVS (helpful, well stocked) and the Nags Head CVS (not well-stocked, but still helpful) and a dreadful CVS in Jacksonville (who have joined the general incentive there to separate the Marines from their money as quickly as possible). I've been ignored, snapped at, stared at with no comprehension at all, had the legality of my own doctor's prescription questioned ("Where did you get this?"), & overcharged. I have been told "I'm sorry; this is the only manufacturer we have in stock." & "I'm sorry but that medication doesn't exist." & "I'm sorry but Medicaid still hasn't cleared this. Maybe tomorrow they will. Can you come back then?" & "We don't stock that. Can you go to the CVS in X (a town 30 miles away)?" Carrboro Family Pharmacy in Carrboro Plaza(at 104 NC Hwy 54 Ste J Carrboro, NC 27510, 919.933.7629) has always been reliable, well-stocked, polite, extremely knowledgeable, & helpful with any confusion I had about my meds or their side effects. I've had very few problems with anyone, or any medication, at Carrboro Family Pharmacy in Carrboro Plaza (from clerks to pharmacists). If I did, they have immediately tried to fix it, and they have either succeeded, or found another road to reach my goal. They accept my goal as their goal. I can easily discuss manufacturers with them (certain generics don't work with me) and they have special ordered more suitable manufacturers for me at no extra charge. They are easy to talk to; have easy access to the pharmacists from the front; you can talk directly to a full pharmacist (not some kind of PA); and you can tell that they care enough to want to deliver top notch professional assistance to you concerning your meds. Not at all like the idiot-staffed BS I have always experienced with the oligopoly that has taken over the entire drug market in North Carolina (Walgreens & CVS). Carrboro Family Pharmacy in Carrboro Plazacombines old-fashioned customer service with swift proficiently using all the 21stcentury tools. Further they have a helpful staff that combines concern, compassion and unfailing politeness with knowledge & real ingenuity in fixing problems that arise. I've been converted. I'll never go anywhere else again. (Humana mail-order can take a flying leap into...) Go there & you will never again be "helped" by someone who glances at their watch before they look at you; then looks at you with eyes showing just a hint of intelligence (& no interest at all); & then asks you in a monotone "Kinihelppu?"

Their price was $26 cheaper than what I have been paying. Their pharmacist took my information on Saturday and said he would call to transfer my prescription on Monday. Sure enough he transferred the prescription, then texted me and called me on Monday letting me know they could fill it and shipped it to my home in Charlotte. I'm impressed with the follow through, pricing and service. I would definitely recommend them.

I used to go to a big box pharmacy, and I finally realized a local pharmacy was the way to go. They take my insurance, and they even helped me with a problem the big box store created when I transferred my prescription. William assured me I would have my meds that night, and he came through. Their shelves are practically empty, but that's probably because of the shortages right now. The important thing is that this is where I will have my prescriptions filled from now on!

"talking to the pharmacist" is what you're doing when placing your script. No fuss, no middle man. Hours are a little short, but honestly not much different than the big box pharmacy hours, you just gotta plan for that. Transferring your prescription to this store isn't hard, they take care of it for you. Renewing or refilling prescriptions is easy with the app & text notifications when they're ready is a great feature. The big box stores could learn a little from the customer service of this Apex neighborhood gem.
