The person administering the shots sounded overworked (and kind of miserable-to-be-there) and told us "If you got this far, it must be correct." She was unwilling to verify it on her computer. Hmm... Two days later when we appeared for our appointments (one at 12:30 and the other at 2:30) her attitude had not changed, nor was she willing to give my wife a shot right after me - no, we'd have to come back in a couple of hours for that. Now, I know what it is like to work with the public, but the edge on this person's entire being spoke of a deeper problem. If she's overworked and stressed to the point of being surly and unwilling to bend even a little bit, I can only imagine she's under strict regimentation from corporate or is just flat-out overworked. Or...? I'd like to give her the benefit of the doubt. Thoughts?

When I underwent chemo a few years ago, this was my pharmacy of choice for all the routine prescription meds. Only once were they unable to fulfill a prescription right away, when I required special mouthwash to control chemo-induced sensitivity. I should have waited the two hours it took them to find the stuff: instead, I went to the Walgreens on Environ Way, a much more luxuriously maintained facility with what looked like lots of extra employees. Their pharmacist offered me a version of the mouthwash made up from a compounding kit by their in-house pharmacist, without really discussing pricing. I gave the go-ahead and it cost me about $200 as it was not covered by insurance. I only found out why when I went back that afternoon for other meds to the Walgreens at 1500 Franklin St., where they had the exact same mouthwash (made elsewhere) waiting for me, for something like $2! I felt truly taken advantage of by the Environ Way "boutique" Walgreens, which never touched base with a supplier or sister store to let me know the mouthwash could be found quickly enough for a tiny fraction of the cost they charged me. They really were in it for the money, not the sick customer. The Walgreens at 1500 Franklin has always put me first and I will gladly put up with the occasional delay because I know they see me. I notice some reviews with low scores complaining that pharmacy service is "too slow." I'd love to hear more about the circumstances (was it a busy day? Was the pharmacy fully staffed?), because I have now been to 4 separate Walgreens facilities in Chapel Hill, and only the one at 1500 Franklin has taken care of me with reasonable speed, whether fulfilling prescriptions or receiving flu shots and other vaccines. I've never gone back to Environ Way, but at both MLK Boulevard and Jones Ferry Rd I've been "forgotten" for close to an hour or made to give up my turn in line when a pharmacist went on break or was going off duty, NEVER at 1500 Franklin. They have my complete loyalty, no matter how fast or how slow their services! In any case, they always do take time to verify the accuracy of information and are very good at contacting my providers when prescriptions expire. I have NO complaints.

It's in a cute old southern building right on the main street of Chapel Hill, in the part of town where all the cute college students walk around and get lunch and what not. It couldn't be more perfectly located for the students, and even though parking is challenging, it's very far from the normal, standard, generic design of a suburban Walgreens.
