Today was my first time ever in this store, and I just needed to get a couple of basic things. The area is very new to me and when I followed the maps direction, I was guided to Army Navy Drive. There is a large Harris Teeter sign on the side of the building, but no obvious entrance to be found. I walked from one end of the building to the other without much luck. I finally asked a cleaning lady to find out where the store entrance was. She said I needed to walk down a precarious tamp to the parking garage, and then search out an elevator to ride up to the store. There were absolutely no signs anywhere inside of this parking garage, however I did finally manage to find the store. A ended-up little frustrated. I purchased some basic stuff like bread, water, some apples, and soup. The store itself was fine, I just with they would give a little more guidance especially if you are forcing people to take an elevator to enter the store. read more

There was no regular register with a cashier the evening of July 3. I had a full large cart of groceries and had to use self-checkout. Many of the self-checkout machines were not working. There's not enough space at self-checkout to put all of your items if you have a full cart. Additionally, was some paying ME a wage to ring up groceries? No. To add insult to injury, the sole employee in the self-checkout area berated me for taking too long! The nerve! She said machines were broken and there was a line. She said I could take more time under other circumstances. Maybe you should have actual cashiers working! Your lack of planning, lack of staffing, broken machines, and lack of space is not my fault. SO RUDE. I shouldn't have spent over $100 at this store. I was livid. I posted on social media and someone said a manager would call me. That did not happen, unless he mixed me up w/someone else named Kim. read more

Daytime pharmacy manager was so rude to me that I will not use this pharmacy again. I should have stopped using this pharmacy, but I gave them another chance because the other pharmacists were fine. But on another occasion, she was rude to my doctor when he called her. When I mentioned these experiences, this pharmacy manager told me to use another pharmacy instead of Harris Teeter. So I'm going to do that, and I'll tell all my friends to do the same. I told my doctor about this, and he will start recommending his patients go elsewhere for their meds. I don't know why she suggested I go elsewhere. Maybe she just wanted to lighten her workload. read more

Horrible. I do the food run for elderly neighbors in my facility on Thursdays. In the past I get 10 orders of the $5 fried and roasted chicken for them. HT now limits purchases even though there's plenty of chicken. Will no longer be buying food for neighbors here. Going to Costco instead. BTW, deli manager was extremely nasty. This store is in a great location of you live in Pentagon City, which is the main reason I shop here from time to time. However, every time I go it's a bit of a disappointment. Their stock isn't great, particularly when it comes to fresh produce. I've also gotten things here like seafood that seemed very close to expiring. The store also doesn't always feel particularly clean. It often smells like stale food and I happened to look at the floor area while I was using self checkout last week and you could see layers of dirt under shelves and in corners (was too disgusted to remember to grab a few photos). Harris Teeter should really overhaul this location. Newer stores are much nicer and this area deserves something a but better. read more

I dont get it. This is pentagon city, the most affluent area in arlington, yet the harris teeter here is the messiest one I've been to in Northern VA. It's disgusting. Harris Teeter - A mess is what it is - Grocery Near Me - Arlington, Virginia

Three big issues at this location: 1) The store management doesn't give a rip about people not wearing masks. Shop at your own risk! There's one sign at the door encouraging masks, but no enforcement. Customers are nonchalantly shopping without masks, not caring about others. The carts and baskets don't seem to ever be power-washed or wiped down either. 2) The selection of organic farm produce is sparse. With all the healthy people in this area, the location could make a boatload of money selling more, but the produce section layout has a small town Piggly Wiggly store feel rather than a more fitting modern urban store. Specifically, I was searching for organic red cabbage. 3) At least one of the self serve machines was down. This high traffic store should have all of those machines functioning, no excuses. read more

I go in about once or twice per week. The staff who work there are fanastic. There are two or three men who I frequently see behind the butcher area. They always stop what they're doing and offer to help. The express check out people are pretty amazing too. I was in on Monday, May 13th at approximately 4:00 pm. The young woman was very helpful. Some days they are low on stock, but everyone offers to help and works incredibly hard. If I need a raincheck, or I have a question about a flyer, the front office people are on it. It's hard work, and everyone rises to the occassion. It's a busy store. But they do maintain it very well. read more

There is some reason, that is currently beyond me, that I find some grocery stores SOOO much more difficult to shop in than others. For some reason this is this store. Maybe it's that the aisles are longer and there's fewer of them, I always feel like I am searching for things for days in this store. I'm like... ok I need honey. 20 minutes later I find honey. Ok I need tuna, 15 minutes later I find tuna. The produce here isn't the freshest amongst Harris Teeters that I go to regularly. But since it's VA they do have a wine and beer section. As far as quarantine goes- the last time I was here, not all of the cashiers were wearing masks- which is one of the reasons I'll probably put this store on hold for now. I know it's not 100 percent required... but I feel like they should be considering the current climate. read more

It's a large grocery store with underground garage parking (they do not validate for parking) and a parking lot above ground in front of the store. The store itself carries any grocery you may want including organic produce, spices from around the world, fresh pastries, and medicine. The customer service has always been kind to me and I've never had to wait long to check out. read more

One thing I have noticed is that if you want sale items get them early as this store will run out of an item. This is one of the grocery stores closest to my home but yet I dont frequent it often for various reasons. The produce is the biggest issue I find. Its not always fresh or good quality. Very disappointing because I have been to other Harris Teeter's and ts completely different. This needs to be looked into. Its not fair to be subjected to this. Occasionally I go to Giant nearby on Columbia pike and whole foods (overpriced). But this is not correct. I was there Sunday morning buying a few things and decided to buy some Pillsbury cookie dough. The chocolate chip cookies were fine, but all the sugar cookies had expired. I was in the store on 26th May and the cookie dough expired on 9th May! Unbelievable. Very disappointing. I informed a staff member to learn if they had some in the back that were not expired and was tol d the delivery truck for that morning was late. This is the second time in the span of a month "from June to July 2022" that I have visited this Harris Teeter grocery Store located near Pentagon mall at 900 Army Navy Drive, Arlington VA, store #83, and not only were shelfs and racks empty of grocery food items, but majority of the fresh food items appeared old and staled...as if they hadn't been change or replaced in weeks; I was there yesterday July 10, 2022. Additionally, if you are using your bank debit card with a master-card log to make purchases, just know that you will be required to enter your bank ATM card pin as appose to being able to process it as a credit-card due to such credit-card logos attached to your bank debit-cards; I have found that this issue is with all Harris Teeter grocery stores in the region; I guess they discriminate against mastercard logo, therefore banks need to stop using mastercard logo instead visa. I live in DC and at times when I am around the Pentagon city mall area, I tend to stop at some retail stores in the area. read more

The location is great and they have stuff on the shelves. That's about it. OFTEN, the fresh vegetables are on their last legs. OFTEN, the tags on shelves showing what's on sale are past the date of the sale. OFTEN, the area where the shopping carts are supposed to be is empty AND dirty. The floor area around the self-checkout registers has not been cleaned in years. Even as of January 2023, the store still doesn't have Apple Pay. I will say that all of the staff have always been VERY helpful and pleasant. Unfortunately, that doesn't make up for a store that isn't bringing its A-game. read more

The store keeps baby food on the shelves that is supposed to be refrigerated. I purchased some thinking it was fine then read the package later. I called the manufacturer of the food to confirm that it is supposed to be refrigerated. I called the store and made them aware of this. They did not seem to understand what I was talking about. First thing you may see, if you are driving, is that the parking lot is generally on packed mode. The couple of times I have driven here I was sort of nervous about Harris Teeter being so crowded knowing that I wasn't about to pay for parking in Suburbs. Once I've entered, I could see that quite a few of the cars where at other stores, probably Bed Bath & Beyond but not Smoothie King. I have never had any issues with the fruit nor produce. No flies and nothing withered. I actually think that their cilantro tends to be some of the best on the account of the quality and the size of the bunches. Another element that I like is that the offer some pretty cool things; Siggi's yogurt, Kettle Korean Barbecue chips and even jars of Recaito--in the small size so you could try it out if you aren't hip to culantro (International aisle). My favorite element about this particular Harris Teeter is the VA Lottery machine by the door. I am able to purchase scratch-off for my grandma without out having to go to the sus Seven Eleven down the street. That place gets no love from me. From everything that I have said, it seems like I'm a huge fan of this Harris Teeter. Well, I am a fan but there is room for improvement. The self-checkout have not been 100% my past couple of visits. Some are cash only and for some, the scale is out of commission. Strike one. My last strike would be because of the change I was given once. When I went to scoop up my change, I happen to love change though I think that pennies should be discontinued, and I see this one coin. I immediately thought, "They out of control with these statehood quarters now," because the design looked real chimbo. After flipping it over, I saw what the deal was, it was Bahamian. This Harris Teeter is constantly out of stock of your most basic fresh produce and herbs. This is beyond me. It's not a new problem either so whomever runs the procurement department is either under skilled or not paid enough to do their job correctly. This is incredibly inconvenient as it's the closest grocery store for me. I often have to concede on my evening meals when they're out of essential produce. I'm sure some will say "well, don't shop at 5:30PM". Trust me, I've tried all hours, if all days. Constantly lacking in certain areas. If you know certain items are popular for months on end, do something about it! Just go to the local Whole Foods. This is my neighborhood grocery store and I've shopped here for almost 2 years. I can say without hesitation that this is among the worst grocery stores I have ever shopped in, and the prices are sky high on top of that. My biggest complaints are the low quality, sometimes rotting produce that they are still trying to sell on the shelves, and the rude staff. I don't blame the staff for either of these issues- all of this comes down from bad store management. I am so tired of purchasing produce that goes bad in 2 days from this store when even my ALDI produce makes it through the week. My other big complaint here is that this store would be a nightmare to shop in if I used a wheelchair. I have disabled family members, so I constantly notice this type of stuff. Both entrances to the store are a maze for wheelchair users and the displays are constantly placed too close together to fit even a cart, let alone a wheelchair, between. The floral, deli, produce, and meat sections are the big offenders here. In short, the management doesn't care about this place and it's really clear in the shopping experience. I used to live here in 2005 and remember thinking it was expensive, didn't have anything available, and that staff hated their jobs and thus hated the customers. I don't think anything has changed, and now I'll be living in Crystal City for a while. Frack everything is so expensive!! Maybe it's DC - I don't know. But $5.99 for 4 oz of goat cheese? Geezus. And the produce - I feel like their produce aisle is half of most other places. And the salad greens that are packed in plastic boxes always look like crap because they get misted on and the water seeps in and rots the lettuce. And as someone else mentioned, everything's always out - the other day broccoli, zucchini and salad greens were down to slim pickings. Sad times for the vegetarian. OH! And the freaking self checkout is SUCH a pain in the ass!! I went yesterday and you can't do certain things yourself if they don't have a sticker that can scan and you have to wait for someone to come over to help you. And that someone comes over all silent, punches some keys, and walks away as if you're not there. Maybe it's cuz I'm Asian, but I feel like I'm always given the cold shoulder here. It's open 24 hours. That's about the only good thing they've got going. I just moved to the area and it was open late, so I ventured in to pick up some snacks for one of my first nights. First thing's first, I go to the customer service desk to ask for a discount card. I walked up, the agent said "Can I help you?" and I said "Uh, hi, I need to sign up for a discount card?" I swear to you that I did not say it in tone that was demanding (I NEEEED), it was phrased as a question. The employee turned to her friend, as if I was not standing there at all, and said "You heard her? She said I NEED." and then asked me for an ID. Then I find out that they need to record your driver's license # and SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER to get the store discount card. I'm not usually a tinfoil-hat-type when it comes to these things, but you have to draw a line somewhere. GTFO. The store's selection is crappy too. They barely have any organic options, whether it's fresh produce or packaged foods. I wanted to buy almonds, but they only had salted and flavored kinds; they did not carry any raw almonds. And all of their meats looked sad. The packs of chicken were FULL of liquid pooling up in the styrofoam trays and I could tell that the chicken smelled weird just from getting close. I'll treat this as my emergency bodega for when I need overpriced toilet paper at midnight but other than that, I will not return. read more

I was highly deceived and flabbergasted when I bought a snow crab leg platter to find out it was imitation crab!! It's quite easy to know what imitation crab looks like, but they quite literally made it look like real crab. Then had the nerve to garnish it with romaine lettuce. Nowhere on the packaging did it state it was imitation. The audacity, the nerve, and the fearlessness Harris Teeter has to cast such fraud. Truly just blown away. I will go to Giant. read more

Woman at the "customer service" (let's just change the name of that department) looked annoyed when I asked her a question and she had to look up from what she was reading. 3. Self checkout was a waste of time: I paid cash and expected my change to come right out from there. If CVS, Home Depot, Lowe's and other stores can figure that out, why not HT? Shopped there for 3 years. Produce is never fresh, and goes bad pretty much 2 days after you put it in the fridge. The meat quality is also meh, and you can't get ground pork. Then I found out you can get organic/local produce for pretty much the same price in Alexandria at Whole Foods. I haven't looked back since. [EDIT] Went there for some last minute shopping and got their pre-prepared meals, which came with salmon, potatoes, and mixed veggies. Took it home and had a closer look. Pros: I can walk there from home, decent wine & beer selection, pretty good deli and sub station, and the store is open 24 hrs a day. Cons: The lines sometimes seem to be like something you'd encounter at the DMV, the self checkout can be frustrating and take even longer than the regular lines, and the store is open 24 hrs but the deli/sub station close very early. Also, you need a free "VIC Club" card to avoid paying substantially higher prices. Overall I go here because it's close to my place but otherwise wouldn't make a special trip. read more

The produce and meat is never fresh and over priced (everything is overpriced). I would never recommend shopping for fruit/vegetables/fish/meat here. The bakery section only carries stale bread/baked goods. There is never enough employees to get people through checkout. Expect to wait a really long time and have your groceries poorly bagged. Supposed to be open 24 hours as advertised but decided to close early tonight so the employees could party. Very disappointing but just one more aspect of why this is a unreliable store. The pharmacy has a 15 minutes guarantee but it doesn't mean anything. I've had to come back a day later because they were out of a prescription med but in that case the 15 minutes guarantee apparently didn't apply. After I complained, the GM contacted me and explained it takes 8 hours to strip and refinish the floors every quarter but he'd try to find a way to give better notice in advance and provide explanation for these closures. However, he said his hands were a bit tied due to landlord restrictions about signage. I have to say it was a great follow up by management and showed great concern for customer complaints. That said, they have great fresh vegetables and fruit ms and the deli is terrific. The roasted turkey and chicken is especially noteworthy. read more

Thank god for this Harris Teeter in our new neighbourhood, I was about to get depressed! This is at least my new favourite supermarket because it's close and open 24 hours which is AWESOME! I sometimes can't sleep so walk to the shop around midnight, and I'm always surprised how many other people are shopping at that time of night. I had experienced repeated deception in this place.. The cashier Felishia (just now) looked at me as if I was turd for not knowing how many bags I needed...on top of that made a comment to her co worker as making fun of me and tried to get a customer to side with her.... This Harris Teeters is my favorites from all. It has a bus line run right by. from the 22, 16 and more. Red top cab has a free phone in the manager counter. Very friendly, helpful and alway willing to make your shopping the best. Here my review. Sushi is very good. good price and good quality fir a grocery store. Even in the seafood department has a sashimi. California Rolls are ok. But they make it define. Eel and eel rolls it ok. Sashimi is little over price. But if you like to have a quick sushi or sashimi it your place. Thursday half price subs. From there Turkey to cold cuts, tuna and more. it the best place when doing your shopping to pick up a quick bit Always shop around they some time have great price on there seafood. Sashimi grade tuna is great. You can do anything with it. crab legs is another item that on sale. crab cagun dips out of this world. Phillip frozen crab cakes and mini crab cakes. also Phillips cream crab. The meat season is great. discount steaks. Hole chicken lags low prices. Sometime you can catch discount meat thats going out of date. Butt safe to eat. Half price. And more. Also catch out of season item in front of the store. From $7.00 down to 2.50 or less.
