Evil. I have never been spoken to so rudely. Not even the banks are this bad to their customers, I guess HCTA knows we don't have a choice.

There is a water bottle refill station next to the individual bathrooms. The ambiance is stunning and modern, not exactly silent but not too loud despite the presence of a children's section. We didn't try out the other amenities of those library, as we had a lot of studying to do. Would highly recommend as a place to quietly meet up with a friend, get some remote work done, or escape the Houston heat for free!

I criticize Houston a lot for its poor public planning, but the Public Library System is one thing…read morethey've done marvelously. This library is sleek, modern, and absolutely beautiful. Color tinted windows brighten up the gloomiest and rainiest of days. Artsy geometric themes line the walls, ceilings, and furniture. Whatever your reason for visiting, the interior provides an abundant amount of space for it. More importantly than aesthetics, this library goes above and beyond in the resources it provides. It has passport services, computers, printers, study spaces, and books, similar to most libraries. What most libraries don't have though? Video recording studios, podcast rooms, and sound engineering booths. All fully equipped with instruments, all soundproof, and all FREE. OF. CHARGE. I absolutely love seeing this available. It provides people a creative outlet and a chance to feel heard. Other available gadgets include 3D printers, Cricut machines, and premium media editing software. C.J. and several other employees are at your service if you ever need a tutorial. According to the American Enterprise Institute, library visits have decreased by roughly 31% since 2000. I wouldn't have been able to tell based on my visit today. I saw plenty of parents, kids, and students lost in their own worlds. Free third spaces (locations other than work and home) have become increasingly rare; turns out that if you build a pretty library that's valuable to all, the community will come. I can't emphasize enough how cool this library is. It's a rare sight of tax dollars being utilized incredibly effectively. This isn't some privileged resource in River Oaks or Memorial Village; it's located in the unassuming suburbs of Westbury just outside of I-610. You'll leave this library impressed one way or the other. See for yourself.

So I came to this station to make a report. It wasn't any cars outside and I assume it was closed down. Luckily my friend jumped out and it open. He called once I got home to verify my plates and make sure I made it.

Following the impact, the driver delayed braking for an estimated 4-5 seconds. As a result, I sustained two fractured and compressed vertebrae, a significant hematoma in my right gluteal muscle (requiring two surgical procedures), severe damage to my right hand, and extensive road rash. Two Houston police officers responded to the scene. I explained that I was struck from behind and was positioned in the left lane to access the bike trail. However, the officers informed me that the 19-year-old driver asserted that I had swerved into his path. The officers stated they were uncertain about the incident and would not issue any citations, appearing content to close the case without thorough investigation. A proper investigation would have revealed the driver's untruthfulness. Had I swerved, the impact would have occurred on my left side; instead, I was injured on my right hip, as evidenced by my surgical scars. The officers even visited the hospital to confirm my understanding that no citations would be issued. I believe that had I been traveling in a car or on foot citations would have been issued. It appears that cyclists are not afforded the same level of attention or protection. I was a victim!

My package tracking initially showed "delivered," then later that same day it was updated to say it was physically picked up. We never received it, so we immediately contacted customer care. At that time, we were told the package didn't have an address and would be returned to the sender. After speaking with the sender, they confirmed the address was clearly on the package. We called USPS again and were then told the package had been redelivered. Again--we never received it. We opened a case, and both the district office and the local post office manager contacted us saying they were "looking into it." When the manager followed up, she first claimed the package was delivered to our porch. When we told her it was not, she then changed her statement and said it was delivered to the mailbox--which is also incorrect. Instead of resolving the issue, we were told to file a claim because the mail carrier insists it was delivered. Meanwhile, we are still without our package and continue to get the runaround. To make matters worse, customer service later told us the case had been marked as "resolved" by the post office--even though nothing has been resolved. We had to open yet another claim with customer affairs. This entire experience has been disorganized, inconsistent, and incredibly disappointing. There seems to be no real effort to investigate or take responsibility. I would not trust this location with anything important.

I remember coming here (the former location) as a little girl and the longstanding librarian (an African American woman) who worked here for years was THE BEST - friendly, knowledgeable, and hardworking!!! She even encouraged community involvement in the form of book clubs and community partnerships because she actually knew the community and cared. This team is lazy and knows NOTHING! Several times I've been in to ask about a particular book or author and they are clueless. They have to ask each other then look on the computer but never know (for themselves) anything about say, books. Numerous times I've walked in to see them all sitting and chatting as if it's social hour. Patrons can be loud, children running around and they say nothing. (I NEVER saw the aforementioned librarian just sitting idly. She was always in the stacks or pushing a cart or actually helping patrons!) Recently, I visited to retrieve (check out) a book I'd put on "hold". I found the book on the shelf, by myself, and proceeded to the counter with my card for it to be checked out. The fair skinned young lady, sitting at the desk just kept looking at me and finally asked what I needed. When I attempted to give her my card, she pointed to a machine nearby telling me they no longer actually check out books, it's only done on the machine. Awful! (How hard would it have been for her to simply scan my card?) The finale came when I scanned my card and was asked to input my "pin". Why, I need a "pin" for my library card just seems senseless and trivial. I asked the woman for my pin to which she replied that she could "reset" it for me. When I told her *repeatedly* that I DID NOT want my pin reset, she proceeded anyway! Then, instead of writing it down on a post it (privately) she told me she'd made it my birth year, then YELLED it out (as if I don't know what year I was born.) Again, AWFUL customer service and incompetent staff. Please, find folks who know and care about the patrons here!!!
