It monitors where I am (I travel a lot) and it lets me know with a five minute warning that the International Space Station is passing overhead. If it's a clear night, I'll step outside and look. This evening, I was in Charlotte and at 8:52 PM, the bright light that wasn't an airplane and wasn't a star appeared over the roof of one of my neighbors. Over the next four minutes, the dot silently swept across the sky and disappeared. Seven humans, 257 miles up in space, moving at 17153 miles per hour. Thanks, NASA. Keep on keeping on. It really seems like a miracle but it's just science and math. Very complicated science and very complicated math. [Review 445 of 2024 - 455 in Texas - 21478 overall]

Not literally happening. It's right by the water and it's a little bit hard to get to cuz there aren't really any highways out here but it's still a really nice area.

It's located directly in front of Lyric Market in the downtown theater district and towers 36 feet in the air, seemingly defying gravity with a gigantic cello tilted at an angle, being played by a body-less figure. At the top of the sculpture, a mustached male head peers down on the strings of the cello as the hands grip the bow and fingerboard. I did a little reading on this piece and learned that in 2005 the Lyric property management group decided to paint the mustache on the figure black without consulting artist David Adickes beforehand. It was decided that this was an infringement on the artistic expression of the piece and they ended up having to pay for a lift to paint the mustache back to its original color. Interesting! There's no placard around the sculpture but it's fun to check out if you're in the area. Which sculpture should I visit next?

Another reason why that diagram is there is because that you need to know what fish should you be looking for, so it helps you out.
