Such a great and beautiful library! A great place to study. The private rooms are very nice. A great location to vote during election season.

Spring is in the air and Brazoria County's updated Pearland West Library is giving me butterflies! I had the ribbon cutting day on my calendar, but was totally going to pass it by going home until I saw all the cars in the parking lot and remembered- plus I had a book on hold that would expire the same day, so I had to make a stop! I vowed that I would become a bookworm again like when I was a kid and this new library will make anyone want to visit the library more. There are so many options to enjoy your favorite book. Maybe a table with plenty of lighting will suffice or a room to yourself to spread out your notes while you study. You'll find it here! Plus, there are plenty of tables suitable for groups as well scattered around the 2nd floor. Once more you have a balcony with seating to enjoy a nice breeze while you read or down on the first floor where a spacious courtyard and walking trail will carry you away into your favorite tale or novel. I especially love that there is a teen library! How special! Usually libraries cater to the little ones but it's phenomenal that the BCLS is thinking of keeping kids engaged as life long readers past their juvenile years. Thumbs up for the brilliance of that idea! Also, this library offers plenty of rooms for various functions like a conference room as well as smaller meetings rooms. Every inch of this library you can tell was planned with intention and masterfully orchestrated with bringing a community together through the library. Amazing place that you MUST visit very soon!

Today was the grand opening of West Pearland Library (formerly Pearland Westside Library)! I've been waiting to check out this place once I heard they were relocating to Shadow Creek Parkway. The old location on Business Center Drive in the HEB Plus shopping center was not ideal. Traffic was always a hassle and parking could be difficult, especially if you were going there to vote. They had a ribbon cutting ceremony this morning and a bunch of events throughout the day. By the time I got there this afternoon, the events were pretty much done, but you could walk around and explore. This facility is amazing!! One of the librarians told me that the catalog of books is the same from the old location, but it's much larger because of all the meeting rooms, conference rooms, the park out back, etc. This is a place for the community. They have so many rooms for meetings, studying, lectures, etc. The amount of seating areas in this place is awesome! There were so many nooks and areas for sitting. Downstairs, they have a children's play room and upstairs, is a separate teen library. There was a business center, plenty of computers, and obviously books everywhere! The balcony was really nice and the park out back was awesome too. The colors are so bright and inviting! Right as you walk in, I noticed a door on the right that said Brazoria County Tax Office so it looks like they may be opening a suboffice inside the library soon. There's plenty of parking which is great. I wasn't quite sure where on Shadow Creek the library was located, but I knew I hard arrived when I spotted the flag poles. I didn't see any signs saying it was a library, but maybe I just overlooked it since I wasn't quite sure where I was going. If you're driving west on Shadow Creek, it is just past Kirby on the right hand side across from an apartment complex. It is so great to see that Pearland has a new state of the art library! It definitely reflects the growth of Pearland.

    Beautiful!

This NEW West Pearland library. It has replaced the Pearland Westside Library. The facility is SO beautiful, inside and out. Love the modern decor! There are many cozy areas to sit and read, be able to charge your device or go on your computer. The downstairs area is mainly the children's area. Upstairs is for teens and adults. There are also numerous study rooms you can reserve. The 2 ladies working the checkout desk downstairs were WONDERFUL. They were so friendly and helpful! I am hopeful the book selection will grow with time. (The kids area had lots of open space.) Can't wait to bring the rest of my family here to check out some books!

I've been to multiple public libraries in Houston and most are old. But this one is new, a decent size, and very modern with large windows all around and different seating arrangements upstairs and downstairs. Plenty of power outlets. There's also covered outdoor seating on the second floor. Downstairs is dedicated to kids. They have study rooms with different capacities and most have a window view. There's a whiteboard and the seats are comfy. You must have a library card to reserve for 2 hours. Best to book at least a day in advance as they get booked quickly. The restrooms are clean. Sufficient parking. It tends to get cold. And the wifi speed is very good. There's a teen library section which has board games, Legos, and an area to play video games. I tend to see adults or young adults using the computers, seating areas, and/or tables. Overall, it's a good library to study or get some work done. Every time I come, it's packed upstairs but you can find a seat or two. This could be on a weekday or Saturday afternoon. Downstairs or by the staircase is usually fairly empty or less crowded.

I needed to locate a book for a discussion (professionally related) and the Pearland Library was the only location to have it. So shout out to the Brazoria County Library system! Thanks! I've visited this location once to pickup my library hold. I explored for a short period of time but not for very long. I was able to grab my hold off the shelf with ease and get it checked out with the library staff member. Kudos to them because I didn't have my physical library card with me. I chose to give them a call first to ensure not having my physical card wouldn't be a problem. Staff members were nice and helpful. This location is spacious. When I'm in the area, I'll definitely return. Oh something else to note - a huge green flag (!!) for this library system is that you can apply for the library card online and they will send your card to you in the mail. Talk about accessibility, am I right?

The children's section wasn't completely separated from the adult section as I could hear rambunctious kids talking oh so loudly and playing as if they don't understand the concept of silence. It does seem like the selection of audiobooks and DVDs is far greater than what Parker Williams and Freeman library has combined. Though, this isn't a Harris county library branch. I'm not sure if that's the reason why they don't have wifi for guests. The staff wasn't very welcoming as when I walked in I wasn't greeted, just stared at like I was an alien from outer space. However, one of the shelving assistant that had a Irish accent or British accent was polite and showed that she was friendly. They have early voting going on now in a separate room. There aren't any tile floors just carpet and no bad odor inside. Also, the parking wasn't limited meaning there is lots of spots available. It's pretty convenient to find, if you're traveling from Green Tee just drive straight onto Liberty Dr., it's on the right side across from City Hall. Just off of 518, right before you get to the episcopal church.

I criticize Houston a lot for its poor public planning, but the Public Library System is one thing…read morethey've done marvelously. This library is sleek, modern, and absolutely beautiful. Color tinted windows brighten up the gloomiest and rainiest of days. Artsy geometric themes line the walls, ceilings, and furniture. Whatever your reason for visiting, the interior provides an abundant amount of space for it. More importantly than aesthetics, this library goes above and beyond in the resources it provides. It has passport services, computers, printers, study spaces, and books, similar to most libraries. What most libraries don't have though? Video recording studios, podcast rooms, and sound engineering booths. All fully equipped with instruments, all soundproof, and all FREE. OF. CHARGE. I absolutely love seeing this available. It provides people a creative outlet and a chance to feel heard. Other available gadgets include 3D printers, Cricut machines, and premium media editing software. C.J. and several other employees are at your service if you ever need a tutorial. According to the American Enterprise Institute, library visits have decreased by roughly 31% since 2000. I wouldn't have been able to tell based on my visit today. I saw plenty of parents, kids, and students lost in their own worlds. Free third spaces (locations other than work and home) have become increasingly rare; turns out that if you build a pretty library that's valuable to all, the community will come. I can't emphasize enough how cool this library is. It's a rare sight of tax dollars being utilized incredibly effectively. This isn't some privileged resource in River Oaks or Memorial Village; it's located in the unassuming suburbs of Westbury just outside of I-610. You'll leave this library impressed one way or the other. See for yourself.

This is a fairly new library than Parker Williams (not saying Parker Williams library isn't great)…read moreand it has a lot to offer. This also is a Houston Public library apart of the Houston public library systems. It was built about 3 years before and it looks really modern on the inside. The library card for this library isn't the same as the Harris County library card, this one is different and it can be used at any library in greater Houston though not at Parker Williams (even though it is in Houston). So, confusing right?! I know. This library is smaller than what I know at Parker Williams and it is divided up by a children section, adult, and small study area. Here, you have to use your library card number to access a computer (same as the library in Clinton, MS) and you have to reserve a computer for yourself. But, you have to walk to a different station to do that, instead of doing it on the computer. They do accept San Jac printing cards here too. They offer the usual classes for children like storytime, and they have free computer classes. They have self checkout in which you use your 4 digit security code and library card number to checkout if the desk it too overcrowded. I thought that was pretty cool. Parking is decent: Close to the building, so no long walking Front parking is for employers only Side parking is for visitors They have only 2 fuel efficient parking spots in the front beside the handicapped parking The only thing I didn't like was the fact that the library was small and really no area to study with children carrying on. That can get a bit rowdy. Plus, since its a library apart of Houston more regulations and limitations, so not exactly a free will.
