First time using our ac system for the season and it didn't run. Called Harp and a technician arrived in two hours. Completely inspected control system in the condo then moved down to the condenser unit on the ground finding two bad capacitors. I had a great experience with David Falkowski. He is super polite, professional, even said hi to the dog who I secured in the window. I called Harp after I found water under my water heater in my new to me home and Harp's information was on the machine. It turned out everything was still under warranty. He took his time regardless and it was nothing for me out of pocket. Because of my experience with him, you have a customer for life. I also liked that Harp sent me his picture and qualifications before he showed up so I knew what I was expecting. Nice touch! read more

I have nothing bad to say about my experience with HARP. Are they cheap - no. BUT, they are reasonable, fair, focus on customer service. The experience started with my salesman, Mike Hounshell, who was not pressuring and very tansparent and reasonable. He and the company really worked with me and stood by their guarantees. I received a text in the morning of the install and was able to track the technician. Chris and Ali completed the install of the furnace and air conditioner in no more than 6 hours. The install looked great and the cleanup awesome. Ali reviewed the system with me and the company was on the phone scheduling completion of the work in the afternoon. HARP should stand for HORRIBLE, ATROCIOUS,REPREHENSIBLE, PERFORMANCE. If there was a rating that was in the negative numbers I would start there. As a family we reached out to HARP in January to replace a furnace. We were told that we would need a NAVIEN 240 based on the year of our furnace (1985).. We accepted this and the night and day mare began. The installers stated that they could not put the NAVIEN in due to vent spacing. They instead installed a traditional boiler (twice the size of our previous one) which according to manual specs could not stay because it would not provide proper ventilation to our home. They then installed the NAVIEN 2 days later which flooded our home with CO2 prompting the fire department to come out and my wife and I having to evacuate our home. We have the fire department results with CO2 levels reaching 51 which can cause death. HARP stated that it was a mistake by their technician who set the controls for natural gas although they were aware our home was propane based on the removal and installation of our original system as well as the system they installed prior to this. The NAVIEN system was removed and they replaced it with a LOCHINVAR System. On the day installation was finished the system flooded our basement not once but twice causing roughly $8,000 dollars in damage to furniture alone. We not only had to have the hardwood flooring replaced but we had to have our walls redone in the area as well to prevent mold. We also have had numerous nights with no heat through January, February and into March because of continual "human error". At this writing in May we have not had our damaged non-salvageable items replaced and have had to reach out to the BBB for assistance. In all we have had HARP service techs at our home including supervisors over 25 times. It has been an awful situation for my wife and me. HARP has stated that they would like to pay for the boiler but not the damaged furniture. read more

OMG, I just called...what a nightmare! First I had to give my info to someone who put me on hold for over 3 minutes and then someone else took my info AGAIN and put me on hold AGAIN for several minutes. He then came back to tell me he couldn't get ahold of anyone who could tell him if they would do the work I wanted but wanted to set up an appointment just in case they could. WHAT!? After being on the call for 12 minutes with no idea what was going on I told him I would look elsewhere for service. This is definitely a company I do not want to do business with. read more

Booked an ac tuneup based on coupon in newspaper. Did so in april, for a date of june 5 2020. Was called by Harp two days before saying had to cancel that date. Reschedule was july 28th! Uh, like ac season 3/4 done at that point. Their reason was that it was going to be hot for a couple of days around my june appt, and they would get too many emergency calls. Uh, ok, but why reschedule so far out??? Company either understaffed, or just want to blow off low cost tune up jobs. Highly recommend NOT using this company. read more

I am so pleased with the professionalism that all the technicians and workers showed me during the installation of my new Lennox home heating and cooling systems. Happy that the work was done quickly and effectively during my time of need. The pricing for their quality components was reasonable and easy to finance. Our A/C needed to be replaced, they convinced us to buy a new AC unit and a heat blower. Well after at least six visits our system STILL randomly switches from cool to heat (not the thermostat just the temp of the air) causing us to wake up in the middle of the night to a 90 degree house. Today we came home and the downstairs was 89 degrees and upstairs 95 degrees, with two small children this DOES NOT WORK. We paid a lot of money to this company and have even reduced ourselves to texting the sales associate that conned us in the first place photos of our thermostats. Everytime we call there is no manager available to speak with and no one ever calls back. At this point we are honestly just going to contact an attorney to get our money back and hire someone else to fix this disaster. read more

Received an estimate for replacing my central air unit. The salesmen went over 3 different options that were all very much overpriced. Then he tried a high pressure sales tactic, saying if I bought a package today there would be an almost 3k discount, but that would dissappear if I didn't decide that day. He went through the show of calling his manager and everything. I'm sorry but this is no small investment, and of course I want to talk it over with my family and get other estimates. I was completely turned off by this sales tactic, and went with a more affordable, honest and straightforward company that ended up beating the discounted price for the same exact setup. read more

We paid for a yearly contract that includes the cost of a system tune up and a discount on any repairs needed. When we tried to schedule our maintenance for this year, they told me they had no availability until January- which would mean a new billing cycle and that they charged me for a year/tune up they didn't provide. After complaining about this and asking for a refund, the dispatch person was somehow able to squeeze us in for a week later. However, they called 30 minutes before our appointment and cancelled, and then tried to reschedule for the end of November. We were told by their techs not to turn on our heat before the filters are changed because two years in a row the lines clogged when we did that.. so we have no heat yet. The supervisor told us to just turn on our heat anyway, even though it causes our system to break, because "if our system breaks, they could come out the same day to fix it." So the only way we could get someone to come out before the end of November was to have a broken system- that we would then have to pay to repair.. but then would still have to wait until November for the maintenance, so maybe it would break again. Harp has not been the same since they were bought out and the fact that so many of their techs are quitting speaks to how mismanaged it is now. The call center doesn't know what they're doing and you get transferred around between more and more people who don't know how to help you. When you finally get to someone who can help, they're super rude. This company isn't worth the hassle and we have found a new company to work with that knows how to hold up their end of a contract. read more

Boiler stopped working during the night so I booked appointment through HARP for today. Guaranteed between 8-12 that a technician would arrive or service is free. 1230 came and went so I called just to make sure someone is coming and they say they have no record of the appointment even though I showed them the confirmation. I told him I don't expect them to make good on it being free I just wanted it fixed. They said they are booked solid and can't do anything for me. Meanwhile I have an ice cold house with a newborn. Don't take a guaranteed appointment if you can't fulfill it. Wasted 4 hrs waiting for a technician that was never going to arrive. Go elsewhere Lesson learned!! read more

Service is completely unreliable! I called to have maintenance done on my furnace and water heater. When making the appt. I told them I had a coupon for the maintenance and since I was selling my house it needed to be done by mid November. I was scheduled for a date with the window of 12-4pm. I took time off from work and wait but no show or call. I call Harp and am told they left me a message to change appt. cuz they couldn't do it on original date. No message was left and the earliest they could get me in was December! I'll take my business elsewhere and recommend you do to! read more

So after 18 years as a customer of Solvit and paying for premier service my winterization appointment was cancelled (from HARP who no one told their customers were now supporting SolvIT) due to other emergencies (i.e. customers who are paying for emergency rates) and was rescheduled to march 14th....so my WINTER service was moved to the week before SPRING. I called many times and was never able to talk to anyone who could help (three times was told management would be aware and yet no one called me back). So after 18 years and tens of thousands of dollars I am cancelling with you for what could have been a 20 minute checkup. I will go somewhere that values customers and loyalties and not short term money. I called someone else and have an appointment for Tuesday. read more

This company only gets one star because they came on the same day that I requested service. After I booked the appointment I did look at reviews on yelp which most of them are not very good. The common theme is overcharging for their work. I can now say firsthand this is the case. They charge $99 for diagnosic fee. Okay I'm cool with that. A bogus $25 service fee not even sure what that means. Okay I have you coming on the weekend I can take that. The worker was friendly enough however he never came into the house to look at the air handler after i told him that I spotted ice on the air handler line. He decided that my system was low on charge and I needed Freon. He gave me a few options one being to add Freon with a sealant the other to add Freon with a sealant and some type of dye to see where the leak might be and the third option being to replace the a/c unit for $14,000-$20,000!! I looked the employee in the face and told him they I had already gotten one quote from another competitor here in town and they quoted me 6000. He seemed awfully surprised and said that was a really good price and that his company could never offer that. Just to add Freon and it was only 1 pound with a sealant to came to over $800. I told him I thought that was a little bit excessive considering I had Freon added last year by another company and it was only 300 and change. I unfortunately forgot the company I use last year or I would've contacted them. He then went on to say he can reduce it by $50 and give me 10% off for a military discount. The reason they can offer these types of so called "discounts" is because they're overcharging to begin with. Let's just call a spade a spade. In any event whatever he did didn't seem to work very well as even three hours later of having my system running my house only cooled down 1 degree. I then decided to take matters into my own hands. I mentioned to technician that I had no idea when the last time the condenser coils had been cleaned. It appears this wasn't a concern of his. I then went out and bought coil cleaner took apart the air condenser cleaned all the coils. Within two hours my house cool down 5°. Whoever runs this place should be ashamed of themselves overcharging the way they do. I will never use this company again not would I recommend them. read more

I had my central air conditioning unit replaced by HARP and I'm completely satisfied. I have been doing business with them for about three years so when my 10 year old unit was not working I called them. A technician came (Ken) and gave me all the options I had but recommended replacement. I always like another opinion so I got one. The second opinion was similar, several options but the best one was replacement. I did some product/price research and called HARP back for the install. They gave me a fair deal (Nathan) and the installation crew (Anthony, Ali and ?) was very professional and efficient. At all times they all followed mask/social distancing guidelines. read more

VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH HARP. They offer a good product, but they asked us to sign a contract with obvious errors! To make matters worse, their sales manager offered a remedy, but then stopped answering emails and voicemails about it. Here's the story - we selected HARP for our new AC system, had an installation date, then got the contract. We overlooked contract's misspellings, and extended warranty period that was a number - just a number - no units. Was it years, months, or weeks? The biggest problem was the statement 'see separately provided warranty document for complete details on the extended warranty.' We asked for it - only to be told it's NOT AVAILABLE - even though the contract itself says 'buyer(s) understand that he/she should read all written warranties... before he/she signs the agreement'. It was explained to us that HARP had a new contract software that referenced a document that was still under review. I understand things aren't always perfect, but HARP left us hanging. read more

I contacted HARP a couple years back. I have 2 condos and one business I wanted serviced regularly. I also hired them to install 2 new HVAC systems for my business. They handled the condos pretty much no problem, except getting appointments made lately has been nearly impossible. The 2 systems they installed at my business did not function properly for the whole cooling season until after several visits they final repaired all leaks in the system. Then they send me a form letter stating they no longer want to service my business because they do not want to service a business. Well, I guess I take all my business elsewhere. read more

HARP recently bought Solvit. We have been with Solvit for 9 years. Our Air conditioning went out July 01. We called and were informed we couldn't get a technician out until July 07 due to being short staffed and so many people needing repairs (is this not your company's expertise?). On July 07th - no one showed up. I called and was informed that they called us July 06 to reschedule as they couldn't do Friday - since we did not pick up the call. Our appointment was cancelled, not rescheduled. They then rescheduled me to Monday, July 10 - 12-4. The technician Rick Newman came out on Monday; was very testy and wanted to know what exactly was the issue. We have 4 compressors and a large house. One was working. He wanted us to know what compressors fed to each thermostats and where the equipment feeds were for all. Solvit has been coming to our home for almost a decade. I asked if they did not have all that information in our file. He said "no, the companies have not merged information" and he had nothing. Within 10 minutes of being there, he said it was a two person job, that he could not climb a ladder as he had an ankle injury, and that we needed to reschedue AGAIN for two people. I asked if he was doing that - he stated he was avaialble the next day and asked the office to book. He left, nothing done. No emails of confirmation. I call the next day, July 11 - there is nothing booked for us. I speak to the main office, they apologize and tell me the earliest someone can get out to our home is Wednesday, July 12 12-4. Yesterday, I call again - nothing was booked again. I speak to Gabrielle, who tranfers me to disbatch. After 32 min on hold, no one answers. I call and get Alex, who says he emails disbatch to call me. I also asked to speak to a manager and get the manager's number. There is no manager's number - as he notes it is the on duty manager and he isn't certain who it is - could be one of five people. but says he put in the records to have the manager call me - says they will within 12 hours. That was yesterday at 4:30pm.... no call from disbatch, no call from a manager. He says the earliest he can book an appointment now is the following Monday, July 17. I call again today to get a live human and our apointment expedited. I get Michelle, who again states all she can do is send an email to disbatch and transfer me there. 47 minutes of wait time no one answers. We have a contract with this company. My husband is call ing the Better Business Bureau. This company is unethical and unprofessional. read more

Gave Harp 4 tries at getting it right. The install was screwed up. Then the first tune-up went good, and the tech actually fixed the install problem. But, tune ups 3 and 4 have been a complete and utter disaster. Nobody there appears to know what's going on with scheduling and the tech may, or may not, do everything you scheduled. It's up to how they are feeling that day apparently, or scheduling failed to tell them. You'll get a rep on the phone who will tell you how sorry they are though. It's almost like Harp doesn't want my business. So I'm done with Harp and I'm giving Stafford Mechanical a chance for my business, so far so good. read more

We had our AC unit serviced. The older guy was very unprofessional. He was snooping around in our downstairs and around our house. Asking inappropriate questions. Commenting on material things of our home. Asking to use our bathroom!! They did not wear masks or booties over their boots. Were smoking cigarettes the whole time and hung around in driveway after service was done for about 25 minutes. I was watching the older guy on the camera as he was curiously checking out our camera system and looking in our garage and around our home. Maybe he was just being curious. But I was extremely uncomfortable. I even shut my garage doors after about 15 minutes. Seeing as they had been done with the work and had no need to be hanging around. They stayed another 10/15 after that. I'd never hire them again. read more

I hope Harp's technical service is better than their customer service. After the oil company I has used for years was bought out or merged with another company, I suddenly found myself paying a lot more than I had before. So this year I turned to Harp for a service contract on my oil furnace and AC. I received an email in advance of the technician's arrival. The technician arrived on time and was very thorough in explaining their services. He said my furnace wouldn't need to be cleaned until Spring and they could service both the furnace and AC at the same time. I gave him a check for a service contract and confirmed my email address with him. A week went by with no contract or confirmation of payment received. I called the 800 number on the 9"x4" card describing Harp's services (the only thing the technician gave me) and learned the number is invalid. What reliable business prints marketing materials with the wrong number? I looked up their phone number online and reached an out-of-state call center. When I asked to be connected to someone in CT, I was told they handle all calls. I explained I wanted a copy of the service contract and was told it would be sent. After still not receiving anything, I called again today and this time reached someone who was able to connect me with the CT office in Windsor Locks. The woman I spoke to, who said she has worked for Harp for 5 years, said they no longer provide contracts, but she doesn't know why. She confirmed with her manager that there is no contract, but not to worry, she has me in their system. She offered to email me a copy of the invoice. I was shocked to learn they only send those if requested. I have never heard of any business not providing a receipt as a matter of practice. When I asked her to confirm my email address, she had 2, both of which were wrong. What happened to the correct address they used when I made the appointment? Bottom line, I hope I don't need emergency service during the year and that the technicians who do come are much more competent than the folks running the business. read more

I let it slide as they said they would refund me for not telling me. Sales guy comes to my house with song and dance about applying all these discounts for me etc, but I needed to decide shortly as they could guarantee the price. Been using Harp for years and paid a lot of money for AC unit and fixes to our furnace. They had been out many times to fix our furnace and the last fix required, another part. The technician arrives and says this is going to cost 370.00, and that's including a 50.00 coupon. I say why so much when I look up the price of the part it's 59.99. I cancel the job and call Harp. Some guy calls me back and says they double the price of the part and the rest is labor. I say what is your hourly rate he says 230.00, still doesn't add up. I will no longer use a company I can't trust and feel is taking advantage of people. They use to be a trusted local company ; now they are all about the money. read more

I have used Harp a number of times in the last couple of years, furnace tuneup, new A/C install, water heater failure, new programmable thermostats and a bathroom faucet breakdown. Every encounter with all the Harp staff was pleasant, professional and honest. There was good communication every step of the way and great customer service. On the last visit the technician took photos of the problem sent them to the manufacturer, fixed the problem on the spot and ordered replacement parts (no charge) sent to me to have on hand if any future problems develop. Two year old whole-house humidifier was not working. I called Harp and they sent out a tech from SolvIt. Tech #1 told me I needed a new humidifier. Tech #1 also checked furnace that had been malfunctioning (not always igniting on first attempt when heat called for) and told me furnace was a safety concern due to internal rust, that he could not leave it running due to possible CO leakage into the house. He said he could have a salesman come same day to discuss new furnace (mine was over 15 y.o.). I purchased new furnace later that day from salesman who offered a lower price than he originally proposed if I signed contract immediately, allowing no time to get another company in for a second estimate if I wanted the reduced price. Like a dope, I signed and furnace / humidifier were installed by install crew on 1/13/23. Morning of 1/14 there is water leaking from system, filling pan under furnace. New emergency shut off moisture detector switch was pos for detecting water in pan, but did not shut off furnace. Humidifier not working. Tech crew #2 came, fixed leak, removed (but did not replace) emergency shut off moisture detector (they said it was improperly wired) and claimed to fix humidifier. Morning of 1/15 humidifier not working. Tech crew #3 came that day, installed new emergency shut off moisture detector, claimed to fix humidifier. Morning of 1/16 humidifier not working. On 1/16 Tech # 4 arrived 1.5 hours after service window closed, diagnosed the humidifier was improperly wired. Did not fix it and left. Did he set up another service appointment to fix it? No. Did the company reach out to me to set up an appointment? No. I called multiple times asking to speak to someone in charge. No can do. No one was able to tell me when this job might be completed. Finally - after several phone calls over several days - found out parts were ordered, but had not come in yet. Parts came in nine days later and Harp called to let me know. Why did this take nine days? Were parts shipped overnight? No. Of course not. On 1/28 Tech # 5 arrives, claims to fix humidifier. Looks like its working this time! Morning of 2/2 it is apparent humidifier is not working. I called, asked for someone in charge. Person I was speaking with declined to disclose this top secret info and said I can find that info on their website. I couldn't. I instead found five star customer reviews on their website. Another thing I could't find was any way to leave a (real) customer review on their website. If this isn't fixed tomorrow I'm going to have the credit card decline/reverse payment, get in touch with BBB and the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection. read more
