horrible experience!! I have been calling since 10pm to place an order since I'm at work I couldn't go there so I wanted to place an order ahead. I called atleast 5 times. so I walked in at 11 and the guy up front named Kane was very rude, told me they were closing at 11 even though online says this place closes at 12. he proceeded to tell me even if I order the food he will not make it. I asked him why was my calls being ignored he said that the owners son was here and he handles that. He even complained to me that he was supposed to get off at 10pm, I'm not sure why that's my problem. very unprofessional. I didnt get their names but they were nice to everyone that cane in. I did olace my order online because I was fearful about having to wait on it to cook but that really didnt matter because they really did not start cooking it til I areived or maybe a little before. We don't get to Chicago often and when we do we always seem to miss going to Harold's. We went out of our way to make sure we went this weekend. We ordered 4 breast and fries, 3 tenders and fries, mushrooms, and a piece of perch and a piece of catfish. Asked for all sauce on the side because we had to drive back to our hotel room. The breast and set of fries have the sauce on them. No other sauce to be seen. As someone who grew up in the south I couldn't tell you what the piece of fish was we ate and which one was so hard it just cracked and crumbled apart. Originally, I thought the food would get soggy from all the sauce so we got two orders of wings and fries, one order with mild sauce on and the other order with hot sauce on the side. Got it to go and even though the food was enclosed and sat for a 20 minute drive home, it was still crispy when we ate. To its credit, everything was piping hot and the sauce across the chicken was as I remember it from locations within Chicago. The poultry itself was not bad or skimpy in quality. There's no real ambiance to speak of: you walk in, and there's a counter and several chairs. Not a deal breaker, but not being able to see INSIDE the restaurant gave me the chills. The large pane of glass at the entrance allows you a filtered view to the outside only. Kinda creepy. The guy who assembled my order was affable enough. I love Harold's. When I lived near downtown Chicago, Harold's was FIRE... I order Harold's in Addison... and it's the complete opposite. The management is awful, and they have no clue how to keep things organized. We ordered online and waited almost 2 hours. Went into the store after an hour and people are literally fighting the employees. If you want a free show, just go sit in Harold's. I have a feeling they always get angry customers complaining.
