I traveled from Ohio to visit my parents and on our date to leave my car wouldn't start. We got it jumped and called Harold's to see if they had time to check it out and make sure we were set to travel home. They were busy but made time to squeeze me in since they knew we were trying to make it home. They figured out the issue and got it fixed up quick and for a reasonable cost. To top it off they were kind enough to check my fluid levels since they knew we were going to be making a long drive. Everyone was very friendly! I'm extremely picky about where I bring my car too. after reading reviews and seeing how long it's been in business I not only sent my son there but I brought my car in as well. it turns out they pu old oil in both of our vehicles and lost the oil plug for mine. so my car has been leaking oil since. after a $90 oil change I now ha to replace my plug and get another oil change. Harold's Auto Tow/Storage Problems UPDATE Brenda from Harold's reached out to me and they said that they should have only charged me for the 4 days. They had me come in and they refunded me the one days storage charge and the tax on it. So I am grateful and thank them for taking this action. I do appreciate that they did this. ORIGINAL REVIEW I had an accident on Friday 1/19 at 3:08pm and I was taken to the hospital and my motorcycle was towed to their location. Went to get it today and even though it was less than 4 full days since they got it to their location, (which was probably around 4:30pm on Friday), they charged me for 5 days storage. Heck, I paid and we left with it before 4 full days, 96 hours, had elapsed since the time of the accident. As we paid and it was out for my friend to ride to my house, before 3pm today. They charged $160 for the tow, then add on $75 for labor (which should just be part of the Tow Fee), plus they add another $30 "Admin Fee" and then they charged me $45 a day storage for those bogus 5 days ($225), plus tax. And they charge you for Saturday & Sunday, even though they are closed, so you couldn't get it out sooner if you wanted to. I think if they are not open for those days, that you could pay and stop the clock, then you shouldn't be charged! Then to top it off, they wouldn't let me pay by credit card, cash only. People talk about attempts to have a cashless society. I guess it will never happen with sham businesses like this, insisting on cash. So BE WARNED!!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!!! If at all possible in a tow situation, DON'T LET THEM CALL HAROLD'S!!! This is no way to treat someone going through the stress of a crisis like being in an accident, coming out of the hospital with a broken shoulder and 3 cracked ribs. It used to be, most places, the tow charge included a limited number of days, typically a week. Nothing here but pure greed and money-grubbing. Guess my next step is to call the Sheriff and press charges for theft under duress!!! read more

I would give them ZERO stars. On the 13 I got into an auto accident on springhill drive and Eldridge I'm pretty sure that was the cross street. Well from the moment the tow truck pulled up he was as rude as can be. I tried to make small conversation to lighten the mood meanwhile I'm the single woman on the side of the road who just totaled my car he was an absolutely rude, miserable, mean man from start to finish. They were not my choice. I guess the police called them because they have some sort of contract with them. Needless to say if I ever get into an accident again I will be calling my own tow truck. I went straight there after to get the info on what to do and even the woman at the front desk was nothing but mean and rude from the second I walked in. It was 300$! Just to hold it until the next morning while I got my mind together and figured out what I wanted to do. I guess she did tell me cash only but I forgot because I was extremely stressed considering I just totaled my car. Anyway the next day I went back with the title and money and I handed her my card and she looked at me with the rudest face and tone of voice and said I TOLD YOU YESTERDAY CASH ONLY! So, I said OMG I totally forgot yesterday was ALOT let me go to the ATM. So I went to the ATM for 300$ out and came back. She told me the price was 300$. I go to hand her the money and she looks at me and scoffs and says 302.95$. I said ok well you said 300$. So at that point I was pretty annoyed and pissed at their service so I laughed and said ok I have 3$ on my car one sec. The only time I finally gave her an attitude back which was well deserved because also she was so rude saying as soon as you pay your car better be right off of our lot and if it's even 5 minutes after you pay and it's not off we'll be charging you for a whole 24 hours even if it's a half hour after you pay. Like seriously? So I had rented a uhaul truck and got some straps we were hoping we could hook it up and just pull it off their property and then I would call my tow company I used to come get it and bring it to my house. Well the man who originally towed it was the one opening the gate so my boyfriend could try to hook it up and figure out what we could do, by the time I walked over there they were screaming and yelling and I wish I knew his name but the tow guy was screaming GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE. They didn't want to give us our keys for some reason, now remember we had already paid for everything we did nothing wrong, we wanted our keys for the car and that's what pissed the guy off, I think something shady is going on there but besides the point he then proceeded to THROW THE KEYS AT MY BOYFRIEND. AND THEN THREW THEM INTO THE SUNROOF OF THE CAR. I started crying because all the stress was too much and now they are about to come to blows. The ONLY people who helped and calmed the situation down was the grandson named John who i specifically asked what the heck is wrong with that guy he's been nothing but horrible since the second I met him and his words were ma'am I couldn't tell you he's been like this for 27 years!!!!!! And the inside what's with the lady at the front desk why is she so mean I did nothing, I paid I have the title I did everything status quo. And he basically just shook his head like idk what to tell you but he knew that they were rude. You know the vibes. Then the owner the grandfather named Carl, helped and said leave it alone leave them alone let them call their tow truck and wait here for their tow truck to come get their car. I obviously thanked both of those men who seemed like the only ones who were normal and understood things can't be done in seconds and needless to say our original plan with the truck and the pulleys to pull our car out did not work lol. So my tow guy came and got my car and brought it to my house and we scrapped it so at least I broke even. I think they were mad I was taking MY OWN CAR BACK because they wanted to scrap it or something I have no idea. So the last thing I said to the front desk lady was that I don't know what your problem is but you have been mean and rude since the second I walked in the door and her response.....She didn't even turn around to face me, she put her hands up and said oh well it goes both ways. I never gave her an attitude ever why would I, I had no reason too. Until she told me the 300$ watched me leave to go get it and then told me oh it 302.95 and tbh I can't remember the exact change but it was something like that like 85 or 91 cents. And she did not give me a receipt and I later learned that it is actually illegal to accept cash only in those situations so they are very shady rude, rude doing something under the table company. We had a thermostat issue with my wife's 2005 Ford Focus. After checking around town, Harold's gave us a quote of $200 for parts, labor, the whole nine yards and told us it would be done in about an hour. We got it fixed for about half the price of the other guys and the entire experience was fantastic. Friendly staff, awesome mechanics and very reasonable prices. That was three years ago and we've had absolutely zero issues with the thermostat since! Very very impressed, fit me in for an alignment. I've been dealing with my car pulling to one side for years. Every time I asked anyone, they'd just say it was the crown of the road or my tires. Well I put on new struts, brand new Michelin's and had it aligned and what a difference. Gonna make my long upcoming road trip so much more bearable. Over the past year, I have had multiple problems with our 2 vehicles. A tow to their shop when my car died & wouldn't start. I was positive it was the alternator. A new battery & wiring fix was all that was needed/done and it has been perfect since. It would have been extremely easy to sell me on an alternator-I was that insistent that it was the problem...but they didn't. (Seriously. I had a test run at Advance Auto on Cortez that showed my alternator wasn't performing right, so I knew that was it! Apparently faulty wiring can cause that result also...) So, the next problem (other car): Stick shift was not shifting into gear. Could have charged for entire new tranny, but only the slave & clutch was needed and repaired (master was fine). Overheating-just a flush & thermostat. (Again, how easy would it have been to say the water pump, fan, ect were bad & needing replaced?) Prices were extremely reasonable (parts and the labor). Repairs done quickly & not over-charged for excess hours. The continuing theme is that they are honest and skilled. This can be hard to find and I will not take my vehicles anywhere else. If I could give it a -5 I would. They had my vehicle for almost 2 weeks, put parts on it that it didn't need nor did I authorize them. Also more than doubled the price of the parts. When I questioned the owner his response was that's how we do it. To top it off they didn't even fix the problem so I had to fix my own truck in the end after paying almost $1700.
