I came with family on a Saturday afternoon because we heard about their $9.99 Hainanese Chicken Rice and thought it was a fantastic deal. We also ordered their 5 dish meal set which was $65.88 and it comes with white rice. Essentially you can pick 2,3,4 or 5 dishes from a set menu available only for lunch from 11am-4pm. When we entered, we had to register in line on their tablet by the entrance. There was a line up but we only waited 10-15 minutes so it wasn't too bad. Ambiance was like your typical Chinese restaurant. For the dishes, we got Sweet and Sour Pork, Mushroom Fish Maw, Stir-fried Pickled Mustard Greens with Pork Tripe, Stir-Fried Beef with Hot Green Peppers and the Stir-Fried Beef with Mushrooms and Scallions. We also got the Salt & Pepper Fish. All the dishes were pretty good with very large portions. But the only issue was that the flavor was a bit too strong. I think they might've over seasoned the food. It was also too oily. I think next time, we will ask for less oil and less salt. The sweet and sour pork was not that great though. It was too sweet and the pork pieces was tiny. It also wasn't crispy at all. My favorite dish was the stir-fried pickled mustard greens with pork tripe. The pickled greens really added a nice acidic tang to the dish. As for the $9.99 Hainanese Chicken Rice, I can't comment on how authentic it is but it is such a great value. They actually give like half a free range chicken and the rice was infused with that chicken oil. It was quite delicious. Almost every table ordered this, some even ordered multiple. They do limit to 1 per person. I think this restaurant is great for Chinese food. The prices are cheap and the portion sizes are massive. The dish meal sets even comes with white rice per dish. Other restaurants charge $2.5-3 for a bowl of white rice. The flavor was a bit strong but I think some people would actually like that. But my family has a Cantonese palate and prefer lighter flavors. Next time, I will try their House Special Pork Tripe and Chicken noodle soup. I heard that is what they are known for. When your mother has a $30 coupon and suggests that it be used, you accept. The coupon was for 和顺火煱Harmony Hotpot 和順火鍋. We walked in at 5:30pm on Saturday and there was already a 30-minute wait time for a seat. The consumer is still going strong! P.S., There is a system to punch in your reservation and they will text you when to come back; maybe walk to the bookstore at the end of the plaza or the No Frills to kill some time. I believe Harmony Hotpot is the (new) sister restaurant of 和順煲仔飯 Harmony Restaurant which is located across the street. The interior of Harmony Hotpot is much more comfortable and contemporary than the OG except I find their chairs a bit low for my liking. It is also spacious and well lit: there is plenty of space between each table and the table itself is quite large so you are not fighting with your neighbour for territory (at least at the smaller 4 person tables). We ordered the chicken hotpot with coconut and some Chinese herbs. This is the cheapest chicken hotpot option and does not come with any sides and the order does come with a whole plate of chopped chicken. The broth is clear and not overly sweet, however, the few slivers of coconut meat in the broth were barely able to impart coconut flavour into the broth - it is likely the blandest hotpot option on the menu. One con is the amount of chicken hair that was not plucked on the chicken skin. Overall, it is an enjoyable meal to share - there is a good vibe in the restaurant. We come here every time we visit Canada (June, 2023, February 2024, and today). My teens always look forward to coming here for their lamb stew hot pot. This time was horrible visit where everything was just unexpected. They didn't have the lamb and bean stick stew. The waitress was trying to be nice, but couldn't stop talking so we could not eat at peace, kept insisting on her instructions on how to put the side dishes based on her method. Mind you that I cook a lot (just not the lamb stew). She did recommend the seafood chicken hot pot base which is supposingly similar to the lamb stew, it was at first, but after the second sip, you lost all your taste buds on your tongue due to some spice. We could not enjoy the hot pot after the second bowl, where the kids stop eating. We adults could not finish and stopped eating because we lost our taste buds. Normally, we love to bring the leftovers home, but not this time and had 1/2 the pot still full and trashed. I mentioned it to the waitress attention and she kept making excuses that the lamb stew is not served in the summer (that's a lie because we had it last year for the first time), made excuse we didn't try other flavors that are just as good, ignored our simple suggestion to let the boss know, she was just full of cover up excuses although she tried to be nice about it. This restaurant use to give a free side vegetable, but no more. They down graded and our experience was unhappy (especially 4 teens with numbed tongues and only 2 bowl serving) and I bluntly told her that we may not come again and go to another spot that serves individual versions of this. I've came here several times and know most workers speak mandarin and only a handful speaks Cantonese, so my family was confident in speaking with the staff in Cantonese. A more local's destination that serves both tasty claypot rice AND Canton hotpot. The casserole rice comes with a side of Choy Sum and remember to drizzle the rice with soy sauce from the side. The dish takes longer to arrive (~20 min wait) but the crispy rice you get is nice. If you order the ones with preserved duck, it is usually tough and make sure to carefully debone everything! I generally enjoy dinner here, service is decent for a Chinese restaurant and prices are fair. Food quality overall is good but their rice casseroles are not what I would come for. I've ordered virtually every offering of rice casseroles, I like their "meat loaf" the most - just fat enough to be juicy but not greasy to eat. Their rice and veggies however are so oil drenched, you don't feel like eating too much of it. Their soups are light and delicious, you can taste how there's definitely no MSG. I really enjoying their congee and rice rolls. The quality is way better than a lot of restaurants that specialize in these. Harmony serves breakfast to late night (opens from 6:30am to 1am daily) with a relatively focused/themed menu: congee, chung fun, lo mein (I don't recall seeing soup noodle on menu, but I can be wrong), rice in clay pot and hot pot. We ordered house special chung fun, congee with blood jello and a lo mein with pork hog. The chung fun was unique for sure: so much minced vegi bits that I couldn't taste the minced meat. I guess it is a healthier option then. The blood jello was really good, as in super fresh and silky. The congee was smooth, silky yet I wish there was no msg. True that there was just a little bit of msg, but I didn't think it needed any to start with. The pork hogs were good, too, but the low mein was not egg noodle and it was very soggy. It should be drained more before serving. Last but not least, friendly service and good value for money. The portion was very good. The claypot rice here is less oilier than the other places that I've tried, which is nice for a change.
