Until a few months ago I was a fairly regular customer to the salon for mani/pedi. The technicians are hit and miss, some do a really good job, but others not so much. What changed my mind about the place was the unprofessional service. Most recently I went during a busy time and waited 30 mins while I saw other people seated that had come in after me, until I finally left and vowed never to go back. They seem perfectly happy to give preferential treatment, so I am perfectly happy to go elsewhere. read more

Every time I come to visit Pasadena I come for a pedicure I used to love the customer service and the work they would do on me today disappointed me the older lady was rude and did my pedicure in 10-15 mins she did t even let my toes dry! And I also wanted a mani and she said that they didn't have time for me! Very disappointing. read more

I've been going to this salon for 6 months or so. I've been pretty happy with the service, with some manicures better than others. They never made me feel particularly welcomed or that they valued my patronage, but that's ok - the price was right and they have fast service. Last week, my daughter and I stopped in. I just needed a color change (I'd had a manicure 5 days earlier and it was chipping badly) and she wanted a manicure. As we were choosing colors, the manicurist hurried us to our seats and started on me. I've never seen such a rushed manicure. She didn't even get the polish on completely and left some on the skin around my nails. She then started on my daughter's nails, got part way through before jumping up to help a woman who had just walked in. Apparently the new customer had an appointment with our manicurist for gels. She sat down to work on the new customer while my daughter sat there with an unfinished manicure. I kept trying to get her attention to find out what was going on and finally flagged someone else down to inquire whether someone else could finish my daughter's nails. They said that the new customer had an appointment with our manicurist. I suggested that perhaps she shouldn't have taken our jobs if she didn't have enough time. Another person finally finished her manicure - no apologies from anyone. I guess I'll need to find another place who doesn't make it obvious that some customers are more important than others! read more

I had heard about this nail salon from multiple students at my school so I was excited to try it. I've been to harmony a couple of times now and they had done an ok job. However the last couple of time my nails have come out looking and feeling disgusting. You can tell that they didn't take the time to clean them up. Today I went to get my nails done and first off the lady was constantly commenting on how I need to wax my arms. As a 16 year old I was very offended and felt very insecure about myself after having her comment on it multiple times. Secondly I don't know if it because I am a teenage and they don't think I care but I could tell that not much effort was put into my nails. She didn't paints the tips of my nail on a couple of my nails and didn't clean my nails after she got paint onto my skin. Also she didn't do a good job of prepping my nail before painting them I have a lot of dead skin in my cuticles and around my nail that was not dealt with. I had thought that by going later in the day when they weren't busy that their would be time and effort put into my nails but I was wrong. Instead of having that clean and happy feeling I usually do after getting my nails done I feel disgusting. I was looking forward to having a nice manicure before prom but now after having to take care of the problems myself by nails look like shit. read more

Wow this is the worst nail salon I have ever been to! I came in for a mani pedi and they cut me when they were trying to cut my nails, after I asked them to just file my nails. They also rushed through so quickly and did such a bad job I am shocked I paid for it. Will not be going back. read more

I really like the lady who ownes this place. Me and my kids/girls have spent a lot of money at this place and have had many good experiences here. Unfortunately, all our recent experiences have been bad. I got a manicure and pedicure last week with my daughter and every nail on both our fingers and toes was completely not matching to each other nail. A disaster. I got my eyebrows threaded there. Wow, this place is amazing! My brows never looked more shapely, and for only $12 too! The place is super clean and they are really accommodating. My friend and I showed up 20 min after their closing time on a Sunday, and they took us in with a smile :) read more

Jennifer is the owner and very good at threading. I thought I would try a manicure - not Jennifer - at my last visit. It was a very bad idea, as it was the fastest job I'd ever had. She seemed like she was on a time restraint and it showed. First impression is important. I was not impressed with her curtness or hospitality. read more

I had one of the worst manicures here yesterday, which is a shame because I have been before and loved it, so I guess it really depends on who you get as my sister had gels from someone else yesterday and though still extremely rushed, they looked good. This woman sped through my manicure with an EXTREMELY aggressive, uneven file job, ripped my cuticles out with no care for accuracy, terribly massaged my hands with cuticle oil instead of lotion, and SPED through my manicure leaving my nails bubbly, uneven, and half painted. I made her redo half of them and ended up grabbing the nail polish from the wall and fixing it myself. I wish I made another woman redo it before leaving. Shame on whoever was running the place that day who let this happen, who didn't care when I complained and wanted to understand why it was so rushed, and I know I wasn't alone in complaining since on the way out the woman who was getting her toes done next to me complained about the same things. Speeding me through my manicure and being annoyed when I didn't take advantage of your up-sell to gels isn't a way to get tips or repeat business. read more

I agree with everyone about the great threading you can get here. The area for the service is kinda out in the open so it's sort of awkward but I have no complaints about the service itself. I didn't have time to get a mani/pedi but I look forward to trying them out next time! read more

Found this place from previous reviews. New to California, so I wasn't sure where to go. A cute salon with nice people. I enjoyed the massage chair while getting a pedicure and then a manicure seated in the same spot! I didn't have to lug my purse and drag my newly pedicured toes to another seat. Great service. Jennifer is great at remembering everyone's name...she really pays attention to her customers. Will be back for more... read more

I really want to love this place. I really want to be loyal to it. But they don't make it easy. First, the positives: this is the best place I've found for eyebrow-threading in the Pasadena/Northeast LA, and I've tried quite a few. Even though they are slightly more expensive at $12, I've never left feeling like my eyebrows looked anything but fabulous (at other places, I leave sometimes bleeding, or with stray hairs easily visible, etc). I learnt my lesson the hard way by trying to go somewhere else, and feeling rather dissatisfied. Both Jennifer and Trinh (sp? Trang?) are great. The negatives: my pedicure experiences have always ranged from meh to downright dissatisfactory. They are never particularly detail-oriented, and they often ignore the few minor requests I might make (eg. a particular shape for filing toenails, a little extra scrubbing on the heels in lieu of massage, etc). I can't blame them--who wants to touch and scrub people's feet for a living? Can't be the most rewarding job in the world. read more

I went to Harmony to have a bikini wax and eyebrow shaping while visiting my parents from out of town. Jennifer's threading technique resulted in a natural brow and as little pain as one could expect. She was so good that I asked her to do my upper-lip, too. My sensitive Irish complexion was ruddy after so much plucking, but after a couple of hours it faded completely with no bumpy rash (unlike after hot waxing). The bikini wax was quick, clean and thorough, with plenty of powder used to prevent skin irritation. This will be my go-to place in Pasadena. I knocked off one star for two reasons: (i) the threading chair is out in the open, and is the focal point of the waiting room and passers-by on the street...I felt like I had an audience while I squirmed in my seat; and (ii) they don't have the little paper panties for the wax, so don't wear your red light specials because they will get a little messy. read more

OMG! Just tried my first full set of mink eyelash extensions by Trang...AMAZING! I have used false eyelashes for years and I have never seen anything so natural! It has completely transformed my life, and of all the beauty treatments you could do, this has the most bang for your buck. I save so much time in the morning rush for school and work because I wake up "camera ready", and they stay that way all day and all night! No mascara smearing or wearing off, and they totally open up my eyes, plus they last for 4-5 weeks, then you just need touch ups...no kidding through showers and everything! It's crazy how many compliments I have gotten this week about how great I look, yet no one can tell they're not real! I already loved this place - Jennifer and the gang are so sweet, genuine, and fun, and Julie is a true artist with the gels. And "dip", her new line of all-natural nail lacquer has amazing colors and is totally non-toxic and kid friendly. I went Harmony salon a couple of years ago with my daughter for a mani-pedi and it was OK, nice, reasonable. I needed to do some shopping in Old Town so I called and set up a time in advance. When I arrived (on time), they weren't really interested that I had an appointment, seemed very hassled, and they noisily pointed me to a messy station - I cleaned up the newspapers and magazines myself then plunked my feet into too-cool water. Everything was super hurried and rough - I was out of there in less than 30 minutes, cuticles bleeding. Three people (maybe 4?) in quick succession worked on my nails. Nothing was clean. The emery board was very "used." These emery boards probably cost only 25 cents - why not a clean new one! Despite the hurried manner, they urged me in succession to buy extra callus removal or leg massage or hand massage. Getting my nails buffed instead of painted cost me extra. Even using a charge card cost extra. I went home and washed my hands and feet in betadin and peroxide and rubbed them in Neosporin. I know I should have marched out of there straight away, but I kept thinking it would get better not worse. read more
