Very nice wine, adorable location with plenty of outdoor space for tasting. There's a nice gift shop inside, as well. The male employee I interacted with toward the beginning of my visits wasn't the friendliest, but not rude, so whatever. The female I interacted with toward the end was much friendlier. For all of those who are traveling from LA to San Simeon this winery should be on your list. Harmony is a small town before you get to Cambria, where you can find a glasswork shop a pottery shop and of course this winery. Their wine tasting consists on 7 different wines all for the price of $10 which I think is great deal. Out of the 7 wines we enjoyed the white resiling the most and we end up buying two bottles. After all the wine tasting you must buy a glass of your favorite wine and enjoy it outdoors where they have sitting and you can enjoy the mountain views read more

2nd times a charm. The first time we went here was with my daughter and some friends of hers. Birthday. With a few exceptions the staff was rude and it left a very bad taste. Yesterday I was part of a band hired to play for a wedding party. My wife and another couple, friends, decided to attend. Upon arrival we were told 3 chairs, set to one side, were for band guests. cheap folding chairs. There were roughly 100 plush chairs arrayed auditorium style on the patio. But only a fraction being used. The wedding guests standing mostly and in the bar area. During our show the owner Chuck Mulligan, came over to my wife and told her she couldnt sit there. When she told him thats where we were told to sit, he got adamant and RUDE and told her No! With roughly 80 plush seats not even being used??? Who acts like this? After, I got went over and told him he was a bully and RUDE. He told us to leave. We did happily and will not be back. I had ordered a glass of their Zin earlier but couldnt drink it. It was flat and dull tasting. We will NOT be back. On top of that theres very little parking area. You have to park on the dirt road below the Barn and walk quite a ways UPHILL to get to it. All in all a very bad experience. read more

This place is so pretty! The wines they carry are both affordable and high quality. The tasting room in beautiful. The outside patio and landscape is picturesque. The staff is super nice. They even waived tasting fees for our group and we purchased quite a few bottles to bring camping. The town of Harmony is so tiny and unique. They have events throughout the year that sound really fun like wine and beer festivals. Will be back soon:) read more

This is a nice little winery tucked up on a hill with a beautiful view. I'm not a huge chardonnay fan but their's is very drinkable and easily paired with food. A nice oaked chard with a relatively low alcohol %. I also liked the grandpa's red and their port. Friendly staff and some fun events on the calendar. I'll be back! I like to support the family owned boutique wineries. The owners are very involved in production and strive for a consistent bottle. read more

Beautiful place. I love me some Harmony!! On our recent trip to Cayucos we were told we couldn't miss going to the Harmony cellars and I am glad I didn't. The tiny town of Harmony does have a great winery! We met some cool people and enjoyed the wine. We left with a bottle of Zin that I am drooling over right now just thinking of uncorking it....I think my boss would frown upon it so I'll have to wait till a day off I suppose. If you visit buy a bottle and have a picnic the view of the tiny town and the beautiful rolling hills is enough to take your breath away. My husband and I always stop at Harmony Cellars when passing through. Wine tasting is only $7 for 6 tastings. They have friendly knowledgable staff and beautiful grounds. We love to bring a picnic to enjoy. It's very peaceful here overlooking the hillside. read more

Wow. This goes to show you that you have to read and evaluate all reviews and not just go by the star rating. Most of these reviews talk about how cute the tasting room is, or that the people were nice to them, or that they attended an event and had fun, or that they wanted to say they had been to a town with a population of 18, or that they "grabbed some bottles of wine and headed up to Hearst Castle" ( and what does that even mean? You can't just hang out at Hearst Castle drinking wine.) The wine here is shockingly bad, and while I don't mean the worst wine ever, I mean relative to most of the wine at other wineries in the area. We come up here 3 times a year and stop at 4-6 wineries each time. This trip, the wines were especially good everywhere but at Harmony. The Harmony reds were weak / thin / watery, austere, no fruit, overly dry finish (and I like a dry finish) and the whites were just ok and over-priced for what they are and also relative to other wineries. So that was my take, and my husband agreed. I really don't care if people are nice to me, or if the building is nice, etc, because I go to a winery to learn what I can about the region, the vineyards, the grapes and the wine, and to taste the wine relative to what I have learned, and if I like the wine, to bring some home to accompany a special dinner on a Saturday night. My husband prefers to only spend money where the people are, if not respectful of the customer, at least not disrespectful. Well, the guy behind the bar told my husband in a snotty tone that the tasting was $7 "up front." Like yeah, my CFO husband is going to run away after the tasting. Sorry he wasn't wearing his wingtips and Brooks Brothers suit to the wine tasting. So I took a small sip of each of his tastings (I didn't do my own because I am the driver) and each time I was surprised at how bad the wine was, since they had been almost universally great the past few days at the other wineries (which implies good weather, good grapes, available to all) and afterward he told me how rude they guy had been. The other wineries we had been to this trip all comped his tasting (which was kind of unusual) some even before he had said that he wanted to buy anything. We stopped by on a whim without a reservation as we had visited the glass blowing and pottery shops and struck gold at this little winery off the 1. One of the best surprises for us on a recent trip. We headed south out of Cambria having never heard of Harmony, CA before and saw a large billboard for Harmony Cellars. It was just far enough from the turn to allow us a quick conversation about whether or not to try it out as it wasn't in the plan for the day. Quick review in one sentence take two hours when In Cambria and hit Harmony cellars and the little town for pottery and glass blowing. Beautiful grounds over looking the town (population. 18). Tasting room is separate from the nice looking barn used for wine making. There were four employees that we saw with three primary pourers and one doing office work that jumped out as it got busy. The tasting room has a lot of wine culture accessories for sale which isn't my thing by I saw a lot of interest from others on. The outside has some picnic benches, bar height small tables, and two canyons porches over looking the valley. Dennis was our main server with Raven backing him up on one pour and close out as it became very busy. Dennis was great. He had his talk down for each wine but was able to go off script when presented with actual questions. I appreciated his demeanor and service. $10/person got you SEVEN tastes. So between 2 of us swapping glasses we tasted the entire menu for $20. They do collect the tasting fee up front which I know is a turn off for some. But they discount it just like most do with over $70 in purchase. Now I will say that it is rare that I think majority of a tasting menu is pleasant. Harmony cellars won this day. We had some hard choices to make at the end of the day. We took home a few bottles, took a few pictures, and headed out. On a short weekend excursion to Cambria, we took the short trip into the town of Harmony, population 18, to see what was happening. The tasting room is next to a spectacular barn type building. It looks relatively new, but the construction of it is impressive as it stands over 20 feet tall by my estimation. The actual winery is up a short ridge, but it is amazing what a little elevation can do for a vista. The picturesque scenery is well worth the effort and make sure the camera is ready for panoramic pictures. As for the wine, they were good but nothing spectacular. The wines seemed a bit flat and one-dimensional. They play with many Bordeaux varietals mixed at very interesting proportions which can be a mixed blessing depending on the dominant varietal. Room for improvement! However, the staff is nice and they were part of a fund raiser for animal shelters in the local area. They also made a game to match the pet with the wine staff - very cool! All things considered, don't miss this place if you enjoy a fair wine and mixing it up with the locals. read more

We used to love coming to Harmony cellars. Great wines! However, on our last trip, the host who poured the wines was not helpful at all. We were given a couple of flights of wine, and he handed us a paper with the names of the wines on it. We had no idea which wine was which, he never came outside to see how we were doing and he wasn't very friendly. He was very hot this past weekend and he didn't offer anything to our experience. Friendly staff, good wine and a great view. Definitely 5 stars. Enjoyed the Vibrante, Sangiovese and Syrah the most. The Vibrante is 98% Chardonnay 1% Riesling and 1% Muscat, so light and refreshing, easy drinkability and perfect for a warm day. Looking forward to coming here again in the future. read more

Was so very disappointed with this place today. Normally we love bringing friends and family here but today we were embarrassed that we did. We were a group of 14 which I understand is big, and we didn't have a reservation... it was a spontaneous thing. But it was 2:30 on a Sunday and we thought we would give it a shot. I've never experienced any place being less accommodating than this one. There was plenty of room on their patio and we weren't a rowdy bunch, but they said we couldn't stay because we didn't have reservations and there was some group policy fee. I understand policies, but if you can accommodate patrons, shouldn't you? I've never seen a business turn away business. read more

I've been to Harmony Cellars MANY times over the last 5 years and the service and wines are ALWAYS wonderful! I have never had a bad experience or bad wine here, so much so that my mom and I joined as members! I am always welcomed warmly and Brandon remembers me and knows I'm a club member, which is awesome! There's another girl who I've had pour for me, and though I have asked her a few times what her name is, I can't remember because it's not one you hear often (which you'd think would help me remember!!), but she is also very sweet (blonder hair, really cute smile) and I always enjoy chatting with her, as well! I usually bring a book and some snacks so I can enjoy my wine purchases after tasting, their outdoor area is great for prime relaxing, I could spend hours out there! I also love, that even on busy days, it's not super packed. I've never been treated rudely or brushed off (even before I was a member) and have always been taken care of in a timely manner and with kindness. Really disappointed. Not sure with this quality of wine, how they have stayed open for 30 years. Started out with the counter person loosing our order of the red flight of wine. Get the order in plastic sippy cups, not good. After both of us tasted the wine, we watered the lawn with it. Thought maybe young vines, but say the 30th anniversary sign, nope!! Harmony is a must stop every time I pass through Cambria and San Simeon! If you are hitting the Paso Robles wine country area and are up for a pretty drive, definitely include them! They have a beautiful location, visible as you drive under their ornate iron sign and up the hill - it's like you're invited to the party at the mansion on the hill! It's also a privilege to visit a town like Harmony - I believe on my last visit the population was listed as 17. It is an artisan town, the people who live here are all creators. And their homes aren't visible from the road at all - they are all in on some exotic secret. It's pretty amazing. My mom and I first visited here years ago, and it was love at first sip of their white riesling. Cool and light, not as sweet as many other rieslings, and it comes in a sexy blue bottle. Chill and sip by the pool, or do what we did and watch the sun go down over beautiful nearby Moonstone Beach while you embibe! This is also a beautiful winery to visit during the holidays, decorated beautifully and offering holiday selections like (if memory serves) the Snowflake white blend. Include Harmony on your tour de grape! read more

Overlooking the tiny artist village and the beautiful hills outside Cambria, is this gem of a tasting room. Very Inexpensive tasting, when we first came here pre-Sideways, it was free and still is with a purchase. We loved the service, the view and the buildings. We tasted 6 reds for $5. Unfortunately, the wines really weren't great. The one I liked was the 2006 Reserve Petite Syrah for $38. This is a two sided tale. Let's start with the good. Cute place, wines are pretty good and the view is really nice. They have a really nice gift shop. There are a lot of cute things here. Now I'll go for the bad. The customer service is somewhere between lacking and non existent. No interaction at all. No wine description or tasting notes. Just pour and go. Owner was there and walked around and through us. Nothing, no hello, no smile.....didn't even seem like he cared if we tried his wines or just left. Left with some wine and a little sign and when I paid no thank you, come back or don't let the door hit you on the way out. But that was more the feeling I got from the whole ordeal. We are members but not really sure how long that will last. So in ending. I'm giving 5 stars for the winery, wine and gift shop. 1 star is all I can give for the customer service/employee personality. And that is pretty generous. read more

For anyone who likes central California white wines (I didn't try the reds) and a quiet beautiful setting, this is the place. We made an unplanned stop while driving between Cambria and Cayucos, and definitely plan to go back. In addition to excellent wines, view and facilities, I'd like to rave about the people -- especially Mike. Although I only tasted a couple of wines, I managed to leave my wallet there. I'd moved my ID and most-used credit cards to my phone case; and didn't notice the wallet was missing for a couple of days. Without much identification to go on, Mike managed to track me down and send the wallet - cash intact - to me right away. With all the unpleasantness in the news these days, it's so heart warming to have an experience like that! Can't wait to get back and give him a big hug! The stars are for the fact that their tasting room and property are dog friendly. It is so nice to be able to bring your dog inside a building for a change! The garden area is also very pretty, with a great little view. However, their wines, regrettably were hard to drink.
