Last night was our third time eating at The Harley Dawn Diner. Even though it is about 25 minutes from our house, we never minded making the trip because the food and experience was always worth it; until last night. Our server, Kelsey was very energetic but was not having a good night. We all make mistakes, but when the waitress continually makes them and her response is to go missing in action, it is completely unacceptable. I ordered the Roast Turkey Dinner. I even pointed to it on the menu so she did not confuse my order with the other open faced turkey sandwich. Since the menu description said it cam with stuffing, I made sure to double check with her that the stuffing did not have any pork sausage in it. She quickly explained it did not. However, when my order came out, it was the hot open-faced turkey on white bread with mashed potatoes and no stuffing. I kept the dish since I was so hungry and was not waiting for them to redo it. We also ordered the fried cod sandwich. As soon as it came out, we knew it was wrong since it was a broiled piece of fish on a plate. We immediately explained this to her and she said she would have them fix it. At that point, we never saw her again. When we needed tartar sauce, we had to get up and ask the manager. The bus girl was the only person who refilled our drinks. Our server never came back to ask if our food was ok. We had to ask the busgirl to box everything up. This was easily the worst restaurant experience we have ever had. We will never venture back to the establishment. Once again, a simple mistake is certainly allowed but to not return to the table is absolutely unacceptable. I hope no one else has to experience this level of ineptness and ignorance. read more

My husband and I stopped here on Saturday May 14, 2022. We were coming home from the shore by a different route than we normally take and we were both hungry. Through Yelp we found Harley Dawn Diner. What a nice surprise we had. The staff were so gracious and the food was delicious and a good bargain. My husband had the coconut shrimp appetizer which he really like and I had the tuna, avocado, quinoa salad. I loved it. I also loved the coffee which I tried to buy but the diner didn't have decaf. I was on my way out the door when the manager/owner(?) caught up with me to give me a sample of the decaf coffee. It was so kind, generous and very thoughtful of him. The food was ok but even if it was amazing we would never return to Harley Dawn. The host and possibly manager, but I sincerely hope not, was arrogant and acted as if it was a problem to seat us. The diner had barely anyone in there but it was above and beyond for him to put two tables together to accommodate 4 adults, a 6 year old and a baby high chair? Seats us with no menus for 5 minutes and the when we finally did order it was minimum of an hour to get food at an empty restaurant. This is not a five star top rated restaurant, it's a diner! The adults all got burgers and the kids got pasta and fries. No "thank you for you patience" from the waiter or anyone but a group of them stood around in the corner talking and laughing. read more

Excellent food and service. We ate outside with our dog. I am not familiar with other outdoor sit down venues along the Pike that are so accommodating. The food was fresh, locally sourced and well prepared. The waiter was extremely knowledgeable and was very attentive. We will be back. read more

This diner is such a pleasant surprise. There are so many options. The ocean city Benny and the cod sandwich are two of my favorites. I have tried so many menu options and you really can't go wrong. Great family restaurant. And I can't leave this post without mentioning their phenomenal homage desserts and ice cream. This is probably one of the best, if not the best, diners we have ever been too. The place itself is ultra modern-sleek; it looks brand new. The food is incredible. We ordered the French toast, benedict eggs, and it was relish - you could tell that all of the ingredients are fresh and everything is made from scratch. I will definitely be visiting in the future. My wife and I recently move to the area and we were excited to try this place since it isn't too far from us. We ordered take out and the food was delicious! It was so good we cleared our plates and ate seconds. The problem came the next day when both me and my wife were sick as a dog. Not wanting to believe it had anything to do with the dinner we ordered a few weeks later again and this time the food was horrible. Well this is our first visit since the remodel. And again, I'm disappointed that yet another local establishment has lost its "charm & appeal". Maybe it's me (not liking change), or just that "modern" can sometimes have a "cold" feeling to it, as is here at Harley Dawn "diner". Food was really good, not 5 good, but good breakfast food. I really enjoyed the fresh home fried potatoes. Both plates, omelette & poached, were delicious. Timing was perfect. --We can eat here again. But If the eggs are local fresh, how come they can't tell me where they came from? Service could have been better/friendlier. Not just ok. But again, As diners go, you get the waitress that loves it, or the "server" (modern term), that is just doing her job. Wasn't born for it. read more

The new facility was tastefully designed, but lacked the warmth of the old facility. Dinner for two adults and two children (off the kids menu) cost $64, before the tip. Prices are more reflective of restaurant, not diner. My children had the breaded chicken tenders, which they said had an odd taste. The service was very good, but the fare has much room for improvement. I was served about 10 minutes after the rest of my party. I had fettuccine Alfredo, and the pasta was under cooked. For dessert I had blueberry ice cream, and the blueberries had fermented. While the staff is hospitable, the quality of the dinner didn't leave us wanting to come back quickly. read more

"Diner" isn't really an apt name for the Harley Dawn. This place has been totally renovated. Actually, it's been reinvented. It's more of a bistro now. The only things that haven't changed are the Old Sign and Homemade Desserts. Service was okay. Food wasn't as good as it was. Maybe the kitchen staff are still working out the kinks and getting used to the new expanded menu. Clean, Friendly and Very Air Conditioned. Bring a sweater. read more

Sorry to say but I don't like the owners here or 90% of the staff. The food is good as it is basic for a diner. There are other diners, like the Airport Diner that has it All. A Much better place to eat, relax, and have conversation with great locals along with a view. read more

My family and I go camping in the area, and pass this diner every time we drive down. We've been periodically going for the past year or so and it has easily become our favorite place to eat! The food is always fresh and delicious and we love the homemade croutons on the salad- not to mention the homemade ice cream as well. My favorite dish, the Farmer's Scampi, tastes better every time I order it. The servers are always very nice, even under pressure when the diner gets full. I will always recommend this diner, to anyone and everyone I meet. From breakfast to dessert, this place is always on-par. read more

I have been going here since they were only as big as a single trailer they have since renovated and have turned this little country diner into a rustic chic paradise!! They have something for everyone I personally go there for their chocolate chip pancakes and desserts which are all homemade and out rages sleep delicious. My husband and my son both go and have probably tried almost everything on the menu with no complaints. I really liked it. It reminded me of a lot of Seattle's restaurants. It was nice and clean. It has a modem vibe. If you like old school dinners with fast food out of a freezer then this isn't for you. Harley Dawn takes the time to use local produce. The ice cream and pies are homemade. The staff is nice to look at and very pleasant. The food has a freshly prepared taste. Isn't that the reason to go out? I used to go here every Sunday evening for dinner when I lived in the Mays Landing area. The food was always solid, clearly homemade, and was a terrific value. This weekend I was back in the area and was able to drop in for dinner. I'm pleased to see that all of those things still remain true, including seeing April (one of the owners) behind the counter. The soups are always standouts, and this weekend's tomato mushroom was no exception. What I found particularly amazing was that not only was quality of the broiled crab cakes still the same after all these years, so was the price. $14.95 gets you two huge crab cakes made with just enough bread crumbs to keep the crab from falling apart, two sides, bread, and a salad or a cup of soup. Wow. Oh, I almost managed to forget. Do NOT miss desert. Tons of homemade cakes and pies that are served in huge portions. I usually skip desserts when dining out as I rarely feel that I get my money's worth. Not so here. I've even had them wrap up my dessert to go when I couldn't manage to cram another morsel down my gullet. I arrived on July 4th, 2016 at 10:15 after the re-open. I showed up with a party of 8 and called ahead to make sure they could accommodate us and they were very helpful on the phone. Our party was seated rather quickly and the new place looked great! However, it quickly went downhill. Our waitress, Harley, seemed VERY overwhelmed. We sat for 2 hours before our food arrived because it was delivered to another table. When the food eventually came out, some of if it was half cooked and definitely microwaved. But, we were all so hungry it didn't really matter at that point. We paid the bill and on the way out I mentioned our experience to Diane, who seemed to be running things. She was very apologetic and kind, but offered a lot of excuses. Saying that "She wished the owner was here, because it runs more smoothly" and "We should have waited another week to open because we are down a chef and a waitress." In the end, they comped one of the meals that took forever to come out and gave us a measly $2 coupon for a dinner entree, even though we were there for breakfast. They seemed to be handing out a lot of these. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt, being that they just opened. But, as someone who lives right up the street, this was not a good first impression. I'll stick to Rodio's Kitchen for now. read more

My husband and I decided to try the newly renovated and remodeled Harley Dawn diner. Usually, when I think of a diner, I think a breakfast which is my personal favorite. I had my mind made up I would have two eggs over easy with cheese, bacon on the side and wheat toast unless one of the other breakfast fishing caught my eye on the menu. I did see ocean city Benny. Eggs Benedict top with crabcake sliders. Sounds very yummy! However, upon further review of the menu the island chicken caught Mayeye. So I decided to go with that. Topped with a mango salsa over a bed of quinoa was my choice of either A fried chicken breast, or grilled chicken breast. I chose grilled. It was amply drizzled with a balsamic glaze. Our server John, kind of lit up when talking about it. He said that they make everything fresh and in-house! everything certainly was fresh for sure! My husband chose the Southern comfort dish. It was a half rack of pork ribs and pulled pork it was served with sweet potato fries, corn bread and coleslaw. The serving portion of coleslaw was tiny but that's okay for my husband is not really a fan. I of course had to sample a little bit of everything had to sample a little of everything on his plate. Everything was definitely fresh and delicious. You can tell they really put their heart and soul into these dishes. Our entire bill came out to $34.10 I found it to be quite reasonable for our selections and we left with full bellies. You did a very nice job on the interior annexed area of the diner. Everyone there is very warm and very friendly. The owner April, actually came outside as we were leaving because she missed saying goodbye to us! I know who she is from previous employment and dealing with the diner, but she has no idea who I am . I thought that was pretty cool! Even the young man who was watering the flowers out front when we left that's what he was doing and wished us a pleasant evening. Update: Okay. May have a bit of an issue here... I'm AT HD diner right now ...2nd time this week.. Back to John, our server super nice guy - ordered the pan seared crab cakes and eggs.. Yes -I love them both & they're on the menu as a tag-team .. Can't wait for them to come out! My husband had the Manhattan clam chowder that was so hearty- no watered down canned soup here.. Smelled delicious but I fought the urge to steal a spoonful... I've ordered everything from they're 12 dollar house salads, filled with rotten lettuce and your lucky to get three grape tomoatos, burgers with burnt things on them (I hope it wasn't a roach) every entree I've had, turkey, beef with sides, they taste microwaved and old. Disgusting food that makes you feel horrible after eating. The wait staff won't even give you your change back, they told us "we don't have access to coins" And all of this food is in plastic containers. If you like dirty mircrowave food,and don't mind being overcharged, dirty dawn is great for you. read more

The worst place to eat on the black horse pike. We got there and the sign outside said cook wanted. The place was empty when we arrived. We were seated and had to wait to order because they waited on two other couples who came in after us. The food sucked. My wife's meal was supposed to be broiled and it looked like it was micro waved. Her broccoli smelled and was half cooked. The bottom of the flounder looked like it was not cleaned. My chicken parm had bones in it and was deep fried like a frozen breast. My mashed potatoes were instant potatoes. Lumpy and dry. This place has no bar. It's not the original diner that was there before. Service was horrible. When we complained about the food they would not discount the meal. We left all the food on the table and left. 35.00 food bill for shit food. Plus it's not even a friendly environment. We had to ask another server for our check. We left without a tip and we will never go back here again. Plus we will spread the word about this pos place. Food sucks. A nail brought me to this diner. I'm a little bit happier now. On my way to AC, a nail punctured a tire on my car, causing a slow leak. Not wanting to drive home on the toll road at 80mph on an iffy tire, I drove -- slowly -- on the minor highways and roads back to NNJ. Which is how I discovered the Harley Dawn Diner. I look at diners sort of like fast food places -- you can usually depend on a good cup of coffee, and good food (as long as you don't stray too far from the basics: eggs, BLTs and the like). This place fit the bill perfectly. The portions were good, the food was cooked great, the people were happy and friendly. And, as I looked out the window next to me, I saw that the whole operation was run by solar power! The Harley Dawn is the very reason why people should occasionally get off the superhighways and rediscover the little gems on our side roads. Great jobs, guys! read more

Great place nice atmosphere does not look like a diner at all !! I live 5 mins away and my husband and I love it!! Even my son loves their milkshakes. Their baked goods are all homemade on premises which you don't see too often. The staff of very friendly. I would highly recommend their chocolate chip pancakes!! My husband loves the Chicken parm!! It's very accessible right of the Blackhorse Pike and there is always plenty of parking! The only downfall is that they don't have ours like a regular diner they are not 24 hours there were Many times that we came back from the casinos late at night and wanted to have breakfast but they weren't open that is the only thing negative that I can say which isn't much it's definitely worth a trip to check them out also the prices are very reasonable! read more

My wife and I stopped for breakfast this morning. Service was very good, timely and friendly. However our food was awful. We both ordered eggs over light and scrapple. Our eggs were over cooked and the scrapple was greasy mush. Food was also cold. We have stopped here for breakfast previously and it was good. From how we were seated.. to only 1 refills on a fountan soda I had to hunt someone down to get.
