As a customer who values transparency and professionalism, we regret to inform others of my extremely disappointing experience with Mike from Hardwood Inc. We hired them in May 2023 for a flooring and stair refinishing project in our home, which turned out to be a frustrating and unresolved ordeal. Firstly, the project was grossly delayed. What was promised to be a 7-day job is now over 8 months, and yet, it remains incomplete. The lack of respect for the agreed timeline caused significant inconvenience and disruption to our family life. Secondly, communication was abysmal. After taking 50% of the project cost upfront and even possessing most of the materials we provided, they became unreachable. My repeated phone calls were ignored, and visits to their shop were futile. This lack of communication is not only unprofessional but also disrespectful to a client who has invested trust and resources in their service. On the few occasions where they did pick up the call, they had one or the other excuse about why the delays were happening (medical issues, flooding at the shop, a van fire, worker issues etc.) Furthermore, critical components of our stairs, including treads, nosing, and newel posts, were taken to their workshop for pre-staining and have not been returned or installed. The baseboards, essential to the flooring work, are yet to be installed. While we understand that unexpected delays can occur in any project, the extent of the delay, lack of communication, and failure to complete the work are unacceptable. This experience has been both stressful and disheartening. We are now resorting to sending a formal letter demanding action and even considering legal recourse due to their non-compliance. Will update this review if something positive happens out of that. We are posting this review as a warning to potential customers. The lack of professionalism and accountability demonstrated by Mike and the team is concerning, and we advise caution before engaging their services. I just want everyone to know what a scam this guy is. Michael Dean, aka, Michael Horton. All you have to do is Google his name and the story reveals itself. He has had multiple companies. And it seems the same thing has happened since at least 2005 with this scum bag. His alias company names are Hardwood Inc. Old-school Hardwood Arvada Hardwood Flooring 303 Custom Hardwood 5280 Custom Hardwoods Interstate Hardwood He shows up, gives you a estimate for the work, asks for a deposit, and splits. He gives you a slew of reason he can't get back or is showing up late. He told us his van was stolen and had the wood in it. Apparently thats his story. He never shows back up. I am going to make sure EVERYONE hears about this guy stealing from people that actually earn their money. I had mike come out to my house to give me an estimate.He was very knowledgeable about all the phases of hardwood floors.We had several other quotes from other hardwood flooring companies and hardwood in was by far the best estimates.We had 800 sq. ft of red oak installed and sanded in our house.Not only did mike and his guys do a quality job they finished 2 days earlier than the estimated completion.Mike and his guys were very easy to work with and very respectable of my house.I would highly recommend hardwood inc. Mike and his crew did an awesome job. I messaged later in the evening on a Saturday and Mike came to measure to give me an estimate (Very reasonable) on Sunday morning. Hardwood inc came out and did my floors about a month and a half ago they are very professional. They handled all my questions and concerns. They let me know every step and keep me informed all the way Thur out are project they are a amazing flooring company and would highly recommend them to anyone that wants a professional flooring company working in their house.
