Blane has done my hair the two times I've been there and he's been a pleasure. He's very personable and has a good energy and enthusiasm. He was skilled at taking what I said I wanted and translating it into a great haircut. He offered good advice about my hair and haircare products, and gave me some styling tips, as well. Im so happy I found this place through yelp! I went to Vegas for a trim and I'm absolutely happy with the results. I have curly/wavy hair and have been through many hairstylist. It's actually very hard to find someone that knows how to cut curly hair. I wanted to get rid of some split ends and shape my hair. I showed Vegas a picture of the style of cut I wanted, a straight cut across with blended layers. She did such a great job, my hair actually looks longer after cutting it. The shape is perfect. I needed a last minute haircut on a Saturday at 7pm. They were open & with in walking distance - all I needed was a trim/clean up....I took a chance. First impression: the place could use a thorough cleanly. Once I was checked in I was completely ignored. The staff needs some serious training in customer service. Granted I was early for my appointment but there were 3 stylist standing around doing nothing & not one of them made eye contact, offered water or even smiled at me. I left to get a manicure and had I not been in desperate to shed my the unwanted mullet I wouldn't have gone back. I'm glad I decided to return. My stylist was Ingrid, she was pleasant & communicative. I wear my hair short; it's fine hair but lots of it & funky curls in the back. It was just a trim but she nailed both the cut & the style. Thank you! I won't go there for color or a super intricate cut but Hardware came through when I thought no one would be open or available. And for less than $20! I got a haircut with Vegas recently and she was absolutely amazing. The haircut was quick and she was super skilled. She cut it dry and showed me how to texturize/style my hair. I absolutely love coming here to let Ingrid cut/color my hair. She is a life saver! I came in today to get a botched blonde ombre fixed and go back to being a brunette and she saved my life! You can't even tell I had any blonde at all. To make things even better, my hair is not damaged whatsoever. I have only had my hair done by Vegas, so I can't speak about the other stylists, but Vegas does an amazing job on my hair. I have long hair and I like it dyed funny colors, and she takes the time to do it right. And it takes a long time! But Vegas is patient, thorough and great to chat with. Went here today for the first time and loved it! It's a nice salon and I felt very comfortable. I haven't had a haircut in years so I was nervous and Victor made me feel and look great. I really like my new haircut and it's cute! My hair has been getting shorter and shorter because I haven't been taking care of it. I have just had one of the worst experiences ever. I have been growing out my hair after a disastrous cut somewhere else. I regularly go here but my stylist was out sick. I asked for a bob, specifically, with pictures. Somewhere the stylist said he had an idea, and began cutting and said he was "blending my hair. I reiterated that I wanted a "bob", he said "you didn't want a pixie?". Now I'm literally stuck with half of my head a pixie and the other a "bob"! That asshole really thought he could get one over on me and "blend" the two styles together after fucking up that bad! I realized it when I fell my hair later and the back is cut at an angle to compensate! It's totally noticeable, the left side of my face is layered out and all along the back, but my right side isn't! Don't go here if you want them to continuously screw up your hair! I either have to chop it all off again or fucking hide it until it can be fixed like the last disaster cut! read more

I'm only giving this place one star because the girls were friendly here-I'll give them that. But if you're goal is to get a good hair cut, and not to make acquaintances, do NOT go here. My boyfriend and I made appointments at the same time-he has short hair that had grown out a bit and needed it cleaned up/trimmed; I had been growing out a layered hair cut from a year ago. My layers were beginning to look chunky and unflattering, so I needed it thinned out and shaped up as well. BOTH of the girls gave us uneven, terrible cuts. We're both finding pieces of our hair that were cut too short, left too long or just areas that look like they were completely ignored. As they say, though, "you get what you pay for" so that explains their cheap prices. 10/10 would not recommend. Ever. read more

Terrible terrible experience! The lady on call was very rude when I called for booking the appointment. I had gone for a basic trim and my stylist seemed least interested in the job - made no suggestions, didn't even blow dry my hair or anything. The 'trim' costed me $40 with no hairwash and no blowdry. I feel I was charged way too much, more than what is listed on their website for long hair (I have shoulder length hair btw!). To make things worse, I was asked to tip even though I was completely dissatisfied. The trim didn't justify the super expensive charge at all, definitely not worth the price! Never got a bad haircut here but even though I get a buzz cut they charge me for a haircut ($35 vs $15) I specifically asked for a 3 all around (to avoid any confusion) which the barber did, he told the woman who rung me up it was a buzz cut and she proceeded to charge me $35 anyway. Now Mathew is here at the Hardware Salon and I get the same terrific haircuts for less than half the price I was paying at the other place. I used to like this place a lot, but I think their price has gone up. I was in here a few weeks ago and they cut my bangs way too short after I asked them to keep them at the same length. Haircut was also surprisingly uneven, although I can't tell when I style it the way I usually do. Hardware is a really great salon. I have difficult to manage hair, but they always do a really great job. I usually try to schedule with Vegas, because she cuts my hair perfectly and seems to anticipate what I want. She is really friendly. I have had other stylists there trim my hair too, and they all seem nice and did a pretty good job. Hardware is also fairly inexpensive for Capitol Hill haircuts, and they have trimmed my hair both when I had a pixie cut and when it was shoulder length. read more

I went to this salon because they were open on Sunday, had great yelp reviews and I could get a short women's haircut (already short) for under $30. Kelly was fantastic, really took her time, I did not feel rushed at all. She was the appropriate amount of talkative to get to know me, but then let me just relax. We talked about my options for color but she did not push me to make an appointment that day to do it (which another salon recently did).
