They did what they did well. HOWEVER--and this is an enormous however: They charged us a "minimum" $800 fee to come out and fix the electric, which had gone out, in the garage. This is a red flag, but they had done major work on our house years ago, so we went with it. They showed up on time, spent five minutes tightening a wire, got the electric to turn on, and then asked if there was anything else they could do, as they were charging us the full fee. We had them check out a few things we could think of, and they were gone within an hour. You might think, as we did, that that was pricey, but the job got done? NO. five days later, the electric in the garage is out again. We call and they send an estimate with Zeroes in the fee lines, so we OK their return. That morning, a technician comes and asks us how er'e going to pay. Turns out they want to charge us another $800. We called another company, which found the root problem and charged us $200 to fix it. Lesson learned. The lights in our whole house were flickering. We had an electrician come out who said the main panel was bad and that the whole kitchen had to be re-wired. They said the house was at risk of burning down. They gave me an estimate for $18,000! Todd from Hardt Electric was my second opinion. He came in, took a look at the panel, tightened up some connections and now the lights do not flicker. Problem solved. My bill? $152... Todd went on to explain that the panel could use some work and that the wiring in my kitchen is indeed old, but it is not so bad that it needs to be replace immediately. He offered to take care of the same problems at his hourly rate, which will end up saving me about $16,000 over the first company. Todd listened to my problem and fixed it. Sometimes you need just a little bit of common sense help. I have a vacant apartment and after a couple of months remodeling and expensive problem after problem, I went to show the apt to prospective tenants and none of the lights would come on. I had Todd come out in November to see why a breaker kept tripping and to change an outside outlet. Such a total pro. Diagnosed both problems and fixed them right there. Changed out the breaker and cut out some unneccesarily long wires on other connections. Took out the outlet (which was scorched) and installed a new one with a good cover. Good work done with a good attitude. From my point of view, it was reasonably priced as now I don't have to pay more to have another guy come and fix shoddy work. I used Hardt Electric for a pendant light installation in a rental property. The building was built in 1925 and the wiring is original so I decided to use a professional. It wasn't a straightforward installation but Pete, the electrician, did a very good job. He was very pleasant and helped with the assembly of the fixture, as well. There was a problem where the breaker was blowing with no obvious reason, in fact it got so bad that it wouldn't reset. I called Hardt Electric and Todd came to take a look. He found that there was a short and fixed the issue. He was friendly and quick and the price was reasonable. Todd came out and was great. First, he answered the phone. A seemingly small task; however, plenty of other electricians in the city failed to return my calls, answer my calls, or respond to my e-mails. Second, Todd was able to schedule an appointment quickly so my electric issues didn't continue. And lastly, he did a great job, was super knowledgeable, fixed a light in about 2 seconds, and then fixed a light switch and installed a fan. The best part was he identified that the bracket for the previous fan was not safe and he was able to install a new bracket, which required some non-electrician work, but he was easily up to the task.
