This is technically a review for "Par and Tackle" - the dining establishment that is part of Harbor Lights, but which is located under the roofed pavilion, beside the large, main building. We have not dined in the other Harbor Lights restaurant or Tiki Bar, but there doesn't seem to be a separate review section for just the Par & Tackle. http://harborlightsri.com/food/#partackle That said - we absolutely love this place. Since we found it, my Honey and I have gone 5 times this summer! It is a gem! (I actually hesitated writing a review, because while we want the place to do well, we don't want it to do so well that we can't get a table anymore! ; ) If you are a fan of al fresco dining, you need to check this place out. You get all the benefits of an outdoor venue, along with a distant water view, but with the shelter of a roof - and available clear, side curtains, should a driving rain roll in. Every food item we have had thus far has been awesome. We have had the Pt. Judith Calamari, Italian Sausage/Rabe Pizza (my husband has ordered this every time we've gone!), the Tuscan Kale Salad, Seaside Ruben Sandwich, RI Lobster Roll and the Chicken and Waffles. The absolute standouts are the Lobster Roll and Chix/Waffles. Portions are not super-sized, but neither are the prices. You get delicious food for what I would say are reasonable prices. The drink menu has a nice offering of specialty cocktails and I've tried several - none have disappointed. The wait staff is friendly and attentive. I just hope the summer lingers so we can get many more visits in before the cold weather is upon us. I think I heard they stay open through October and bring heaters in to keep the patrons comfortable when the temps drop, and while I'm the type who gets cold when it's 70 degrees out, we love the place enough that you might find me there anyway on some chilly October evening - sipping one of their Fall cocktails - albeit with my fingerless gloves on! read more

Haven't written a Yelp in over 2 years but this negative review was necessary. Made a reservation for 8 people for 7PM for this evening. When we arrived the hostess said the table would be ready in 5-10 minutes as the table they were "seating" us at was paying the bill. Over 45 minutes later we stood still waiting... I finally approached the hostess after being extremely patient because we noticed that the table she claimed to be seating us at was just receiving appetizers! She then apologized and says she will put an 8-top together for us to sit since that table hasn't even received entrees yet.... We finally sit and are not greeted by our waitress for another 25 minutes. We did not receive our drinks until 8:45PM from our 7PM reservation. The waitress clearly forgot about our table or didn't care, and we had to flag her down in an empty restaurant for minimal service. It's a shame the service is so horrible because the view is beautiful. The only time she was attentive was when she brought the check over and included a 20% gratuity tip for herself and claimed the computer system would only allow her to split the check twice for a party of 8 (a classic lazy service industry lie as I previously worked in the restaurant business for years). I love it here! Super friendly staff and good food. Their menu is a dream, with burgers, tacos, dough boys...oh god, I just gained 10lbs thinking about it. The chicken tacos are delicious. Simple, but incredibly fresh with excellent and flavorful gauc. My biggest pet peeve with chicken tacos is that often the chicken is too dry. Not in this case! Super tender and flavorful, and moist (sorry), chicken with fresh gauc. The cocktails are tasty as well, all served at a Tiki Bar by the pool. The pool itself is gorgeous, on the smaller side, but well kept, clean, and inviting. At night, it has color changing lights on the sides of the pool that make it even more fun to look at. The bar is right by the water, so you get great views and can enjoy sitting outside while the sun sets. There is plenty of seating, at the bar, on the patio and by the pool. You do need a pool membership to swim, and I am considering on getting one, depending on the price. On Wednesday nights in the summer, they have WRIK Rock N Roll bingo which people seem to enjoy. I recommend this location for some great food and fun during the summer! read more

The entire complex at Harbor Lights is beautiful. The two outdoor venues, Par and Tackle and the Tiki bar, have gorgeous views of the bay. The food is also good and reasonably priced. So! Why Two stars?? I've been to Par and tackle numerous times hoping that they will have enough staff. It hasn't happened yet. We've had some great wait staff but they are not magicians. Terrible service and the hostess is useless. How about ordering a dessert after dinner and waiting 45 minutes. When asked how long it would be the response was "no one has time to cut a piece of pie". We moved from our table because there were a lot of people waiting to be seated. In hindsight we should have waited for the pie, thus blocking the table. What a bad business move for them. Oh, and we never got the pie and left after over one hour. On Sunday 7/15/18 about 6 or 7 adults were in the pool with cocktails. It wasn't crowded and we were just floating around talking and feeling great because of the drink, pool, weather and bay vibe. Then a man comes over and rudely said that drinks aren't allowed in the pool. OK, first I've heard about this in two years. I asked who he was and he yelled " I'm the CEO" and stormed off. Everyone was stunned. If in fact he was the CEO I would think that he could have approached us nicely and we all, as adults, would have understood. Maybe management, or the CEO, or whoever he was, should take a look at overall operations and customer service. I know I'll return but my spending will be cut waaaaay down! read more

Wedding night. Appetizers were perfect. Salad and meal was perfectly timed after speeches. The meals were proportionate and so good that everyone at my table cleaned their plate, meat or chicken. Domenic your bartender busted his bottom for everyone and took care of anyone as he went along. Played 9 yesterday with wedding party the course was in great shape. Not too challenging but tactics come in to play as the holes are short with reasonable hazards and sand in play. Par and tackle accommodated everyone very quickly and food perfect for after the round. Couldn't be more pleased with our entire experience this weekend. read more

Went to Par and Tackle for dinner last night. Sadly a poorly managed restaurant, coupled with inexperienced hostess and wait staff, as well as inconsistent food, made for an unpleasant evening. I had higher hopes. Won't be rushing back. read more

gotta say you guys are 0 for 2 for food service this summer of 2019... very disappointed. both times waited over an hour and this time, no kale.. which I was told as they delivered my husband and brothers sandwich an hour after it was ordered... then I waited another 20 minutes and had to ask about my wrap that I changed from kale to romaine. sandwich finally came out without chicken.. as ordered. very sad! read more

This is for the tiki bar. The service was HORRIFIC! 15 mins to get a drink with 3 bartenders and the bar is pretty small. I was speaking to an older guy there and he said the service is always horrible. Even last week he went and said it was so bad. The girl would take half our order and say let me put this in then I'll be back for the rest and ring it in then just go wait on other customers when half of us still needed food and drinks. I asked for a Moscow mule and I got vanilla vodka and lemonade. My friend got a sangria and it was straight up vodka with a splash of wine. Out of 4 drinks two had to get sent back and then they gave attitudes about sending the drinks back when they were incorrectly made. These are not complicated drinks. They have no idea what they are doing. It's as if they do not know how to work with excess amount of customers yet the bar is not that big. The bartenders were like 17 years old - it was like it was everyone's first day in the job. Also the pool is like 10 feet long with people on top of each other and children splashing and screaming everywhere. Never. Again. We wanted to try something difference from The Last Resort. For $20, I had higher standers. Never. Again. The Last Resort is where it is at for a chill pool day with a bigger pool, good service and $5. read more

Restaurant, Pool Bar, Marina, Golf... Have a wedding, a dinner, a round of golf, or a place for your boat. I've done it all here. Picture Newport and East Greenwich rolled into something better and you find Harbor Lights Marina and Country Club! The food is worth a trip, the infinity pool is worth a dip, and the marina always has a slip! read more

This is the best marina on the East coast! My husband and I have been cruising the entire East coast, and when we needed to haul our boat for maintenance we came here. We had our hull painted as well as engine work. We could not have been more pleased with the professionalism, friendliness and overall experience of Harbor Lights. Harbor Lights is fantastic! I can't wait to meet my friends there for a drink and bite to eat at the Tiki Bar/Truck and also the Par & Tackle. The views of the harbor and the golf course are amazing. All the attention to detail really sets this place apart from anything I have seen in RI. Love the bars and cool vibe. Every year they have offered something new and seem to adjust to feedback. I have been a marina member at harbor lights for many years, and I find the staff very attentive to our needs. I have seen earlier posts where people have complained about the staff in the office, which I have to truly disagree with. Karen, in particular, is more than helpful. I have never experienced any staff to be rude, or disrespectful. I am glad to see the marina is on top of keeping it a quiet and peaceful place. There have been reckless children that run the docks, steal golf carts, and endless screaming and splashing at the pool while their parents sit and ignore their unruly behavior. As a parent of 4 children, I would never allow my children to act that disrespectful in public places. I am glad to see the marina is proactive by getting rid of these disobedient and disrespectful members. read more

My husband and I were married at Harbor Lights on 12/09/17. I researched many reception venues in RI, MA and CT, looking for a beautiful location, with remarkable food and a reasonable cost. My husband and I chose a winter wedding at Harbor Lights after seeing the breathtaking grounds and meeting the very personable staff. From the moment we met Hannah Marshall, our wedding coordinator, she went over every single detail and put our minds at ease. From giving me advice, to answering every single email in a timely manner, to purchasing dairy free ice cream for me (food allergies), and fixing my bustle throughout the night....she made the night perfect. Hannah and the staff at Harbor Lights worked closely with our photographer, DJ and videographer, and their professionalism is unmatched in my opinion. It happened to snow a significant amount on the day of or wedding, and Hannah and the staff made the night safe for all of our guests. Our guests continue to to rave about the beauty of the venue, and the absolutely amazing food. The bar area and outside patio (with a fire pit!) added to the ambiance and gave our guests room to move around. Right down to the restrooms, Harbor Lights is impeccible and our wedding guests were comfortable and wowed. I truly cannot recommend Harbor Lights, and Hannah Marshall, highly enough to do justice to our experience and how pleased we were and are. read more
