Couple days ago it was raining very hard. My garage leaks whenever the rain start pouring since the door to the garage doesnt get any cover so I had to quickly go to harbor frights to buy a tarp. The previous tarp I had was blue and it just ripped during windy season. So this time I asked the employee about the gray tarp which is supposed to be more durable or heavy duty. I actually saw another blue tarp that also says heavy duty but after he explained to me the difference between the two I knew the gray one is what I needed. Bought it really fast and upon opening it, the tarp did feel a lot more durable. Had a good experience coming here and will come again for other needs read more

I pop a boner every time I come in this place. Yes, I love tools. Granted, they're cheap Chinese tools which have no quality control requirements on them besides being the shape of the tool they're supposed to look like. (most of the time) The staff here are knowledgeable in that they know where everything is, but don't ask them how to build your house. Come to think of it, don't ask the average worker at a home depot, either. I doubt emo-boy could tell you whether you should use the quickset concrete of the standard for your driveway. I digress. Use the tools here maybe 5 times, that's about all they're good for, but realistically, If you needed the tools here for your livelihood, you'd order from a catalog, or go somewhere else for the tool. Store manager is very disrespectful to senior citizens. This is just unacceptable. I witnessed him "helping" 3 customers while I was there and it was as if every person he came in contact with had disrespected him and his family on a deep and personal level. It was strange. I am baffled as to why he even walks onto the floor. He should stay in the back and train someone so he never has to leave his office! Too bad other stores are so far away. I'm giving a two because the lady in charge was nice enough to give me a ran check on particular item. For that, I am grateful. Otherwise it's a negative two. I am a very calm and patient customer 96% of the time. My dear friend and I went here today closer to closing time. We took our time, and gathered the things we would like to purchase. We didn't hold the staff by any means, we respectfully made our way to the front! The encounter, the worst customer service I've ever received. Hunter the cashier, needs more training and a trip to charm school. Very rude, doesn't listen to what is being said to him, talks over you, addresses you in a manner as if you're stealing. I kept my cool, wanted to see an itemized receipt to make sure the discounts were applied to the items for joining the membership. Apparently you can not see your receipt until paid for??? Well, I spent $350 in that store and he continued to be a punk! As we were leaving a gentleman helped us place my purchases in the car. Sitting there, from inside, Hunter gave a big thumbs up and a big sarcastic punk smile and laughed! I sat for a quick second, and got out of my car to let them know how the experience went. I come here fairly often for "disposable" tools. They're great for that purpose, though I'm not sure how well they'd last if you're looking for something more heavy duty. At least the Pittsburgh brand items have a limited lifetime warranty though. I like to browse, as they have random little doodads here and there. But there are a couple of things that I come here often for (usually for SAR or camping purposes, as these items serve their purpose and often get lost. Not broken or unusable, but just lost or "needs" to be disposable). Those items include: 1. safety glasses: $1.49 on sale, $0.79 with coupon (Item: 99762) 2. razor blades: $0.99/10 pack regular (Item 66382) They have a cheaper one that's in a 100 pack for about $3.00 as well. 3. 2" painter's tape: $5.49 on sale (Item 95512) 4. carabiners: $0.79 on sale 5. aluminum whistle: $0.79 on sale, $0.99 regular (Item 98588) These whistles are actually on par with Fox 40 whistles, at 93 decibels. :) The staff here are pretty nice. Not too knowledgeable for the more complicated projects oftentimes, but they're nice. I've never had a problem with using the coupons here, which is greatly appreciated. :D read more

The Store: This particular store is extremely organized and well run. Everything is in its place and the employees know where everything is located and are very helpful. The old days (10 or more years ago) of product strewn all over the place and non caring employees is long gone at this location. I quite honestly think this could be the biggest turn around in a retail store I have ever seen. The Products: There are some gems and some crap. It's hit and miss. They mean well but sometimes it's just cheap Chinese crap. The best thing to do is read the online reviews for each product. They are pretty much right on and have some helpful tips and tell you which products to just outright avoid or the ones that are gotta have. I gotta give credit to HF for publishing all the negative reviews. They do read them and try to improve the products. Product design and quality is continually improving. You will save a lot of money shopping here. Keep in mind that many of the tools can be less that 50% of other retailers. In some cases it is the exact same Chinese manufactured product sold at Home Depot or Lowes with a different name on it and different color scheme. About 10 years ago I was shopping for a tile saw. Home Depot had a saw that, upon detailed comparison was exactly the same as the Harbor Freight saw. It had a different name plate and different color scheme. The Home Depot tile saw was over $500, the Harbor Freight one was on sale for $199. My son remodels houses and still uses the saw which performs well now 10 years later in daily use. read more

I knew today they close at 6 but I didnt pay attention on the clock because i have to look for the tool i need then something happens at the cashiers and the big girl name something " Christina " get mad at customers then she start yelling at everyone including me. I work at the restaurant too so I understand how's bad is someone stay after closing but that attitude is not acceptable, you can easy tell people that you're closed by a friendly way, not yelling with that attitude. Always fun to go here. I keep the free & 20% coupons in the car and now have quite a collection of tape measures, meters and screwdrivers. I used their small reciprocal saw with a 12-inch blade to cut down a tree damaged in the Feb 2016 high winds and cut limbs up to 8-in diameter just fine. In all the dozens of purchases the only thing I have returned was a pole chain saw which looked like it was ready to fall apart - not something to play around with while cutting limbs over your head. A tip -- before you go inside, order fish and chips next door. Then you'll have something good when you are finished shopping. One of the best fish & chips places around here. read more

I've literally been coming here for over 20 years now. They sell cheap made in china tools on the cheap. If you are in a pinch and need some tools for a quick fix these will do the job. Their coupons and sales are pretty decent always check their website before ypu purchase for either a 20% off coupon and or a freebie. They have crazy specials all the time and many times free stuff or free stuff with a purchase. I've often worked their tools harder than I should have and am rarely dissatisfied. read more

Item 63842 - Cobra 4 channel wireless surveilance system with 7 inch monitor and 2 Cameras I have both of my cameras mounted up 1 on each side of my house pointing towards the street , far from the street about 70 feet - motion detection was set to high at first but cars driving by would activate recording, that's not what I want so I set the motion detector sensitivity to medium , no change , finally I set them Both to low detection sensitivity, no change whatsoever, high triggers recording same as low does - I've repositioned the cameras , sure if I point them at the ground then they won't likely begin recording when cars drive by but that wouldn't be of much help, they need to have my yard and driveway within View - I called the tech support number in the owners manual -'888-866-5797 - a lady answered after a 20 minute wait, we discussed the trouble , she put me on hold and then came back telling me I need their other harbor freight surveillance system , with the dvr instead of the monitor, that one requires cable installation it's not wireless - don't want that one - There has got to be a distance that the cameras will not detect motion at, they're at 70 feet from the street now, if I were to move them 80 feet and they still detected cars on the street then I move them back to 90 feet, sooner or later the cameras are not going to be able to detect cars driving down the street , problem is I don't have that much room to move them back - the low sensitivity setting isn't low enough and the tech support was no help at all - I tried scotch tape , no improvement read more

The employees here are rude, unhelpful, unprofessional and have no customer service experiences. One of the employees (Tyler) went out of his way to deceive me about a coupon I tried to used. After 2 weeks of denying my coupon, one of their employees (a new hire I gathered) was kind enough to honor my coupon. That doesn't make up for all the bad experiences I had here... If I ever feel a need for cheap products made in China I guess this place is a last resort... update (4/1/12) Well, looks like they've hired new employees since I last reviewed HF. These new employees have much better customer services. The clerk actually smiled and said thank you. Wow...lol. Anyway I changed my previous low ratings to reflect the upbeat service. I came to to store at 9:10 AM on April 1, 2015 with the coupon that I got online from www.dealsoff.com for a Free 27 LED flash light. This coupon is about "No Purchase Required". However, When I gave the cashier name TYLER, the coupon code that I got online; This cashier entered in the computer, and said it's not acceptable. He told me that his store doesn't honor any coupons from third party company. I even told him that the coupon is from HFT with the logo printed on the coupon. He still insisted not to accept the coupon. So I took my time to call the customer service at www.Dealsoff.com to clarify the situation. the customer service at Dealsoff.com said HFT is one of the merchants that they are affiliated with. So I called back to clarify the situation with the store. Once again I was on the phone with this cashier again, "TYLER". 1) He said: "he is in charge of the front cashier. Then, I went on told him the situation. 2) He once again said: "COUPONS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE, NOT TAKE PICTURE OFF THE WEBSITE". 3) He said: "That's the manager's policy, he's the employee". Well said enough, My time spent to get to the store with the intent to purchase some other items along with the Free flashlight "No Purchase Requried" didn't success. I was mistreated by the manager's decision, cashier's rude customer services. Picked up a utility bag for $13.99. The check out lady noticed that the zipper was broken so it was replaced with another bag. She inspected it and told me that it was good so I purchased it. When I got home I opened it and to my surprise it also had a broken zipper. I'm disabled so I can't keep going back to exchange or get my money back every time I get a poor quality product. So, I've been looking for all the items I need to complete a project with my students and had been to every leading hardware/tool store around without any luck. I walked into Harbor Freight nearly hopeless. Rather then walking around and searching I went straight to the cashier who looked busy and waited to ask if they carried the items I needed. Turns out he was not only the cashier but the manager too!! Tony was SO helpful! He not only helped me get what needed but saved me money too by explaining about the store's text messages for coupons! I was so thankful! Not only did the store have what I was looking for but had I stopped and asked anyone else I'm not sure that I would have saved 34$ on my purchase!!
