I asked pricing on the phone. Debbie said the price was $234 for 5-gallon bucket of Benjamin Moore REGAL paint in Matte. I said that price is really good, amazingly low. She said that's the price. I confirmed 3x that we are talking about Benjamin Moore REGAL MATTE in 5 gallons. She said yes. I get there and they don't have stock of the REGAL 5 gallon buckets! And if they had the price would be OVER $400 NOT WHAT Debbie QUOTED ME! I asked them to sell me 5 1-gallon pails at the same price but no. The guy helping me asked Debbie about my phone call. Debbie stated I asked about Benjamin Moore BEN paint, not REGAL paint! Why would I do that when half my house is painted in REGAL? I remember asking Debbie THREE TIMES on the phone that it was BENJAMIN MOORE REGAL MATTE IN FIVE GALLON PAILS!! YES SHE SAID EVERY TIME I ASKED! It gets worse, much worse. The guy says he can give me a 10% discount in the gallon size cans then goes to ring me up. He tells me he can't. So he mixes the paint and opens the can to see it foaming. He does another can. More foam. It's been an hour now and he got 2 cans that didn't foam out of mixing 5 CANS! I check the production lot numbers on the cans and they are consecutive!! I lose my trust in the paint, but desperate to buy paint for my painter (who is waiting at my house and charges by the hour), I buy the 2 gallons of paint that didn't foam when shaken. It's way too late now and the painter went home until Monday. Monday we open the paint and begin painting, we notice it's much lighter in color than the same color paint we bought at the Benjamin Moore store! We end up having to buy 5 gallons more from a Benjamin Moore store and paint over this paint wasting the $150 and an hour I spent at Griffin Ace Hardware! I hope Griffin Ace Hardware sees this and 1) fixes their paint supply issue, 2) fixes their paint mixing problem 3) refunds my $150 that I paid for the paint which doesn't match the color code and 4) trains Debbie to listen more carefully to customers on the phone asking about product pricing! Update: I don't know where Griffin Ace Hardware is getting their Benjamin Moore Matte Regal paint but it is very different than the BENJAMIN MOORE REGAL MATTE paint I bought at other Benjamin Moore Paint stores. I CHECKED THE CANS AND THEY SAY THE EXACT SAME BASE PAINT. First, the color is much whiter than the other paint my painter already painted 90% of my house with. We even applied a second coat and waited for the paint to completely dry, it's way off! Secondly, it smells like a much cheaper paint! Third, it covers poorly and required a third cost even over a primer coat. The way we found out was when we rolled the walls with GRIFFIN BENJAMIN MOORE REGAL MATTE PAINT and brushed the corners with OTHER PAINT STORE BENJAMIN MOORE REGAL MATTE PAINT! THE COLOR DIFFERENCE JUMPED OUT PLAINLY! I had to pay my painter a lot more money to paint over the ACE PAINT with 2 gallons of OTHER STORE PAINT that we had to buy in addition to the GRIFFIN ACE PAINT! Conclusion: GRIFFIN ACE BENJAMIN MOORE REGAL MATTE PAINT does not look, smell nor cover as well as BENJAMIN MOORE REGAL MATTE PAINT from other stores. It appears to be a very poor quality paint. It wont match the color and you will have to buy more paint at the other stores to cover this GRIFFIN ACE BENJAMIN MOORE REGAL MATTE PAINT costing you double plus paying a painter double for his time! read more

I had a very old Ace Professional socket wrench which failed. It was purchased many, many years ago, but hardly used and looked new. It failed and I called other Ace Hardware stores first. But none would honor a warranty. But when I came to Griffin Ace, Ernesto the manager said, "Sure, we'll take care of you!" He replaced it with a much better 72-teeth Craftsman's socket wrench. I've been coming to Ace Hardware a lot since last year since we're doing a lot of paint jobs for our new house. We love Benjamin Moore paint so we only go to Ace. We're currently painting one of our bedroom and out of the paint for our ceiling. The store in Fullerton (which I usually go to) closes at 6 PM. I was so happy to find out this place close at 7 PM. I called at 6.10 PM to see if they really close at 7 PM because it's going to take me 19 mins to get there. The girl told me they won't be able to serve me as they have to be closed by 7 PM. I didn't know it takes 30 mins to make the paint! I told her if she can ask someone. It took her 5 mins to ask then she told me, "Yeah you have to come tomorrow. We get really busy when we close so we will not be able to do the paint for you". I told her again, I'm going to be there 6.45 PM the latest. She said no. I don't know if I should get pissed at her or myself for calling first because all other Ace Hardware usually are very accommodating and I still go within their business hours. Wow, I got really great service today at this store! I took in an old 2-wheel hand dolly because it needed a new wheel. I could not get one of the wheels off and the manager managed to knock it loose and found that the bearings were worn out. So he took it to a workbench in the back and changed them for me. Then he found that the old cotter pin had broken off and was jammed inside the axle. He spent a lot of time drilling it and getting it out and clearing the hole out so a new cotter pin could fit in. He went through a lot of work for me and I only spent a few dollars on the bearings and new pins. read more

They had a gangster chick with dyed hair lurking me through the aisles and whispering to her coworkers after I informed her they could get fined for violating the Americans with Disabilities Act for taking the restrooms away from their customers, This is the ONLY Ace I've shopped at that doesn't seem to care about their customers who may have medical needs.
