Worst customer service by a manager yelling at the customers like we are 5 years old!! Will not come back to this store ever

First off, this is my only 1 star review. All past reviews are 5 stars because I look for the good in people and service, not the opposite. Not sure what this guys position is but he's an absolute a$$hole. Between this location and the Orange location I've spent a good $700 the last few weeks buying everything needed for a recent woodworking project, camping trip, and all the random HF deals that you end up buying for no reason. I went back because I forgot one item at 8 pm and he wouldn't let me in after I just spent $180 this trip. Yes I understand you close at 8 but 1 extra minute of me being in there goes a long way for customer appreciation, especially with 2 people still checking out. Before that he was helping me with a roof rack and couldn't be more rude, rather pissed off because my elbows are messed up and going in for surgery soon and he had to help me carry out the roof rack, which is maybe 40-50 lbs. he doesn't care about customer appreciation and not sure what his title is, but if anything above entry level, should start from the bottom again and understand how to be a good person. He has the attitude that he's "The Man" and better than you. honestly just sad to witness considering. I will only be going to the Orange location moving forward. I did learn about HFT "deals" I will share. I recently took interest in a Hercules package deal: tool, 5 amp battery and charger combo for $99. Great deal, right? My local store was out of inventory. The store employee graciously offered to find a store with availability. Here is the ah-ha moment. In checking for availability, the store needs to have all three components of the deal- meaning all three need to be in stock and available. You cannot get 2 pieces and pick up the third later. So when you have a clerk shop deals for you to nearby stores, make sure they verify all the parts to the deal are in current inventory before trekking across town! read more

We were at NAMM in Anaheim and needed some last minute screws and tools to complete a project for our booth demo. We got great service, found the exact screws, drill bit, and file we needed. This place is the worst on several fronts. There's always major lines. I'm used to that in HF stores but this location is in dire need of more square footage. The fact the lines stretch through aisles, especially during COVID provides little to no comfort. I also wonder just how many ppl should be allowed in during such unprecedented times. Seems like there's way too many for the size of that location. Finding an employee to ask a question to is next to impossible. The parking lot is the size of a postage stamp and always full. They need to move to a much larger location and hire more people. I'll be going to the one on Bolsa from now on. The GG store is about as dirty and ghetto as they come. read more

I frequent Harbor freight often. I like what they offer and go here before Home Depot. However the store on Harbor blvd in Garden Grove is the worst when it comes to customer service. I went in to buy 2 large furniture dollys There were none on the sales floor. I walked around to find a salesperson on the floor. None to be found. While looking for a salesperson, I had noticed there were 32 brand new dollys stacked in plain view in there back room. Once I found the sales person standing next to the front door, I asked if they could please get me two. The response was "We don't have any". I said there are 32 stacked right over there. "Yes , but those are for us". "We use them to unload our trucks." I can't buy 2 and you replace them on your next shipment? The answer was "no" He then offered to find the nearest store which had some. He said La Habra might have some that is 12 miles away. I took my cart full of items and went to pay and found that there was only on checker/cashier on duty and the line was 11 people deep. That was the last straw. I walked out without purchasing anything. This store has horrible customer service. I won't come back here. read more

I have always used Harbor Freight for my home projects and very happy with them. Three years ago, purchased a Portland Electric Pressure Washer 63254, one of the best values and great functionality. Last weekend , the motor would not turn on, although the transformer is humming . Called customer support who told me that they do not know this product and could not help with troubleshooting. I took it to the store- the supervisor clearly wanted to help, but couldn't. Very frustrated and disappointed ! read more

Everything from "the line" which is unlabeled; stand patiently in what you think is the line only to find out "the line " is aisle 3 even if nobody is waiting in aisle 3. The items marked with a pride are generally differ Mfg priced when you get to the register. It's amazing how a biz this poorly managed stays in business. read more

Harbor Freight Tool's is a pretty cool place. They have virtually any tool you would need and usually at a better price than the bigger chain stores...couch...Home Depot. ..couch Lowe's. Harbor Freight just has very few employees out on the floor to help customers, which is fine because most of their clientele is the DIY kind or contractors. 4 stars for the tools and good prices. -0.5 star for service. 3.5 stars. There was a gigantic line of customers who have been waiting for over 25 minutes in line to get checked out. So many employees walking around however, only one lane open?? The store manager here (that's what he called him self) spews toxic masculinity. I came in last night looking for a specific product that I called in prior to my visit to the store so I knew they carried the item and the manager tells me "this is a hardware store... not an electronics store, go to Best Buy " and then rudely repeats himself after I tell him I checked online and over the phone to make sure they do carry. 5 minutes of him telling me to got to Best Buy and shoving his entire foot in his mouth, he says "oh that's the exception, go check aisle 8". The only reason this place gets 2 stars is because the female cashier, Valeria, was amazingly helpful and I wish I would have originally asked her for help but she was the only employee working in the store with a line of customers to check out while the other 5 or 6 employees including the manager were standing in groups around the store chatting among themselves about Dogecoin and joking about how much debt they are in. I use this harbor freight on the regular. I Accidentally threw the receipt away. I bought the can crusher yesterday and it didn't work right, I told the guy I threw the recite away by Accident. He rolled his eyes and told me there's nothing he could do. I used a debit card and he refused to help me. Also every-time you go there they don't have enough people working so it takes forever checking out. All I can I'm super unhappy with my local Harbor Freight. read more

Terrible long line. HFT relies on their coupons to do business, which means they get a lot of returning customers and the store is always busy. These customers are sometimes never prepared to have their coupons ready causing many eye-rolling among the patrons waiting in line. Would be nice if they open up another line or ocassionally announce the patrons to have their things ready to speed up the line. +1 for cheap, affordable tools. read more

Harbor Freight Tools - 4 cashiers, only 2 open... - Hardware Stores Near Me - Garden Grove, California

I purchased the Zurich Z13 code reader because my father's vehicle was throwing out a check tire pressure warning. I bought the Z13 because the informational material inside the store said it was for foreign and domestic vehicles and that it was basically the best one to purchase besides their $1,000 plus model. The unit wouldn't detect the issue so I could clear it since the tire issue had been fixed. So I took it back to the Garden Grove store and was told by a cashier that I had to pay the restocking fee because it said so on the receipt. I told him that the previous sales rep did not tell my about the restocking fee because he was too busy trying to pressure me into buying the extended warranty. I then escalated to a manager who preceded to tell me the same thing. Told him that the unit didn't do its job as described and the manager stated that my particular vehicle issue wasn't covered under what the unit could do. He again repeated that the restocking fee was stated on the receipt. Told him that is corrected but that I didn't read that untill after the sale was completed. The store managed failed to provide good customer service because a previous employee didn't do their job and I had to take the financial hit for it and only receive a partial refund. read more

In the past I have always made a U-turn at the Harbor Blvd and Cardinal Cir. During an earlier visit, I saw that there was an accessible drive thru and was going to use that pathway to enter the store on a subsequent visit. Upon coming to the store, an unattended SUV (later confirmed to be an uneducated and ignorant customer) blocked the drive thru that is designed as a passage way for customers proceeding from either northbound or southbound on Harbor Blvd to enter and exit the parking lot. Apparently someone had parked there blocking the drive thru. Thus preventing anyone proceeding from Woodbury Rd to access the parking lot. I went into the store to report that that vehicle was impeding traffic and limiting the amount of clientele that would have access to the store. The first checker, Ericka, demonstrated her negligence by stating that she is too busy and that she "does not care" about that. Even after cogently expressing the issue, she continued on with her "does not care" attitude. I requested to speak with their manager, so she paged him on the intercom. We all waited and waited, yet there was never a sign of the manager onsite. He was nowhere to be found and probably hiding in the backroom. I proceeded to the second checker, Andreina, to see if there was at least one person in the store that was not just a peon going through the motions. I could not find a single employee that had concern or expressed enthusiasm in their work for Harbor Freight. A teenage male employee voiced his opinion and chose to call me immature in response to my dissatisfaction with the lack of responsiveness. I did not have the time nor the desire to educate these kids working at this store given their negativity towards customers. I have seen far better customer service at fast food chains. Perhaps that is a recommendation for them to go work for one to learn some basic skills such as caring for the company they work for and learning that their behavior represents their employer. Since the manager was oblivious to customer service, it is clearly demonstrated among the staff he/she manages. The right action for the checkers was to announce on the PA the vehicle that was blocking the drive thru and kindly request the customer to relocate their vehicle to a proper parking spot. This would have rectified the issue and demonstrated employees that show concern for the customer. As far as purchasing what I went to the store for, the same apathy was observed from checker to checker when scanning and checking out items. The employees and staff clearly demonstrate their lack of concern and company pride. I guess it makes sense that they do not exude any pride working at this particular store given the type of management that exists. This store has some serious problems with customer service, lack of a competent managerial staff and adequate training for the cashiers. Come here if you want to be shown how worthless you are to them. read more

I was just here and the cashiers were very helpful. But what upset me the most was hearing the store manager Brian what I feel was blasting his employee about how wrong he was doing something. The store is full of customers and Mgr Brian felt the need to belittle him. I saw poor management skills will result in poor profits. I've been to several Harbor Freight stores and had a pleasant experience. Great prices for what you get. However, at this location I found the manager, Brian, to be rude and cocky. Look at the name tags next time you go here and if you get Brian, you'll see what I mean. The way he speaks to everyone and especially to his employees, is demeaning. Harbor Freight Tools are typically all the same inside....a GREAT selection of cheap tools and accessories. I've been a customer for 20 years. And while my personal sockets, wrenches and screwdrivers are snap on and my drills and saws are Ryobi and DeWalt, we have a lot of tools that are used in my shop for repair and maint for our presses. I don't buy expensive tools there as too many hands go in the roll away and invariably things turn up lost and /or missing. Harbor Freight tools are perfect for my shop. Lose a wrench? Not a big deal. Same with screwdrivers, sockets etc. I also have more than a few of there items in my personal garage. Need something like a specialty item or a tool that you only need once in a great while? Then the quality of their stuff fine for that purpose. I've found most of their items hold up just fine for the "weekend mechanic". They are also a great source for things like O-Ring kits and saw blades, drill bits etc. Bottom line is anyone who thinks there is no use for Harbor Freight is a tool snob. read more

I drove to this location from 30 minutes away in hopes of getting an item that was last item in stock. I explained to the employee that I was in desperate need of this item and driving as fast as I could and they said they'd help me by putting the item in the back. When I got there They had actually held it for me!! Since the pandemic it's been hard to find employees who go out of their way for customers but all the employees at this location did that very thing. They also helped me load up my items to my truck. I bought s security system from Harbor Freight Tools Garden Grove. Only one box was on the shelf that day. On the way home, I stopped by Costco and found another system which better suited for my need. I made the purchase from Costco and immediately turned back to Harbor Freight Tools to return their system. I did not arrive home and the box was intact as it was in the car all the time. The floor Manager named Joshue cut the seal to open the box and claimed that a missing DVR.. He refused the return. I contacted Joshue's manager named Phillip. Phillip want 20% charge fee for a return. This merchant did not have a courtesy to accept the missing items from the box that they are selling but blaming on the customers as stealing. I am not buying anything else from this store again, Shame on you Harbor Freight Tools Garden Grove. read more

This store was clean and organized. They sell some cool machetes and knives for under $10! A bunch of neat tools for cheap, like the 36" pick up and reach tool for $1. I can now grab small items or clothes on the ground without having to bend my back. Call me lazy but I'm nowhere near obese or overweight because I exercise. But I love this tool because I can stay in my chair and grab things that a normal person could not without getting up :) And if it breaks, who cares it was $1! Cashiers were kind of slow but there was a sale that ends tomorrow so I will only knock off one star. All in all, this is a good store for your hardware needs. read more

First time in the store and probably the last. There was a line of 10 customers and 1 cashier on a sunday. That wasnt the worst of it though. A second cashier who was a Hispanic girl named Emily came up and instead of taking the next in line she took a hispanic guy who just walked up and had already been told there was a line. When we vrought it to the attention of the cashier(Emily) she said nothing and ignored what we said. This is not customer service. A simple apology would have sufficed. There was other ethnicities shopping and waiting in the line. We will be telling our ither friends that frequent the store often ti shop elsewhere.There are many other places to shop for cheap tools.
