I absolutely love harbor freight! Regardless of the store that I go to the staff has always been more than knowledgeable, and very helpful in helping me find things. Despite the fact that some people think because it's cheap that the items are crap. I cannot begin to tell you how wrong the reviews/people are. Don't get me wrong they do sometimes have items that are not up to par, or doesn't measure up, but if you're unsatisfied you never have a problem bringing it back no questions asked. So how could you ask for anything better than that? I can assure you that almost every item I've ever purchased from harbor freight has been as good or better than the competition "name brand", and I have saved a ton of cash by going to them instead. My favorite go-to store is Santa Rosa California, and I've never had a problem with anything. The manager Kellie is a wonderful woman, a sensational manager, unbelievably cute btw, and her knowledge of the business is amazing. You can't stump her believe me. Great deals and excellent service. Bought a tool chest cabinet combo at 8:30PM (closes at 9). Manny helped put the huge boxes into my small rental car. Not a bad place if you need a tool or piece of equipment that you will use once or twice and then throw away. Harbor Freight is the dollar store of tools, not for the professional by any stretch. So if cheap, disposable Chinese crap is what your intereted in this is the place. And yes, like the previous reviewer stated "you get what you pay for" so if durable long lasting quality tools are what your looking for. They cost more and you wont find them here. read more

HF is by far my favorite tool shop for the last decade. Prices are great, especially with online coupons that they send via email. Some items have a lack of durability, but 90% of the items I buy are great. For the other 10%, HF has great no-questions-asked warranties, usually 30 or 90 days. I've only returned items a few times in the many years I've shopped there, and everytime they were excellent. The website is also great, though online prices are often quite different (sometimes cheaper, sometimes more) from in store prices. Again, sign up for email coupons and get some great deals. read more

Harbor Freight the Fry's of tools. Prices are great, $5 for moving mats. $9 for four ratcheting tie downs. Where else can you find deals like that? Although some of their stuff looks like it belongs in a dollar store I still give them 5 stars. Because I'm a realist. I know that an $8 power drill won't be as good as the $50 one they sell at Home Depot. What I'm trying to say is buy certain things here and go somewhere else for others. Don't be fooled, Harbor Freight does not honor 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed at the Santa Rosa store or the Corporate office as advertised. I purchased a 10 foot X 17 foot vehicle storage unit for over $200. People who purchased one of these units will find that it is not UV protected as advertised and the sun will deteriorate the coated fabric within a matter of a year or so. All one has to do is look around their neighborhood to see how many of these units have their tops ripping and or a tarp from Walmart or COSTCO or Home Depot or Lowes covering the unit because the top ripped. I'm looking into a class action litigation as too many of these are falling apart that were advertised as UV protected and 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed. Buyersbeware; Harbor Freight does not honor 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed, and especially on large purchases. If you are going to spend for a large item, go to COSCTO or LOWES or Home Depot where 100% Satisfaction means something. I've learned my lesson; so hopefully, others will not follow in my foot steps and expect 100% Satisfaction from Harbor Freight, so shopper beware. By the way, corporate said a district manager would call. They never did, so don't waste your breath and time, just go to small claims court and or join a class action. read more

amazing deals, not sure how long the tools will last. I have bought about $1000 worth of tools with mixed results. Some appear solid and dependable, others look like cheap Chinese replicas of quality tools. The price is right and the specials are priced so low that I have never left empty-handed. This place is great if you know what you are looking for. You must inspect each piece carefully. Some things are pretty good, and others... not so much. I have a farm where I occasionally need large wrenches and sockets. It's not worth it to me to buy Snap On or even Craftsman at high prices when I will only use the tool once every couple of years. Instead, I buy them here, and they are good enough for my occasional use. Recently I bought a floor jack, and I was impressed with the quality. They seem to be getting better as the years go by. On the other hand, things like saw blades and abrasives could use improvement. For the money, it's a good place to shop. read more

There tools are okay for the price. I wouldn't use them for heavy work though. I've been to this HB location many times, lines are long at times. I've seen many different employees over the times I've been there. Hmm... Smacks off employee issues, (retention) I would like to give them a 2 1/2 for average on quality and 4 on price. I'm not the one to write or complain but these 2 guys on the cash register treated me like not want to come back EVER to the Harbor Freight any location. I bought a moving dolly on Friday and on Monday one of the wheels was wobbling so cool I went in not having a recipe for the sale the cash lady said no issue please go select other one and we will exchange it so I did what was told which is a right way to handle a problem. Not thinking of anything I return to the line and was attended by Mario first it was fine asked for my phone number, I informed him that the lady did not take it or I might have not given to her for marketing reasons Fair, he replied let me ask the supervisor who happen to work next to him, fair!! This gentlemen believe his name was Ricardo (not sure) was with the other customer so I waited he attends me and again ask for my phone number I tell him the same this Now his brilliant customer service starts by telling me that No we always ask for the number which might be true but I said she didn't the other day since I was in a hurry I don't recollect, and I tell him I was not looking to return this since it's a bad piece and the wheels are wobbling so I didn't carry my recipe. This guy gives me an attitude till I had to tell stop I just need to exchange and move on. I ran a business where I don't look at small things yes it happens but later I asked the other guy Mario for the supervisor's name so I have a reference to whom I spoke to, this champ gives a and uses a f@@@ing word in real gangster manner, I felt like what did or whom did I just had all this conversation with a customer representative who is using all this street language to f's. I was scared not knowing what to say or reply. Horrible and uncalled for the attitudes and the fearless language, that was used and I'm sure I'm not the only one !!!! I have visited this store twice in the past three months. Both times I entered with a sales flyer in hand featuring deals advertised for all Harbor Freight stores. I live 18 miles (one way) from the Santa Rosa store and I was there today to buy a garden shredder . The store was busy and the line at the register was intimidating. After looking for awhile, I asked for help in finding the shredder. The employee found the display model but no other shredders. He looked in back and returned to say that they were out. I asked him what was wrong with the sales display. I was told it was not for sale. I informed him that this was the second time I drove over specifically to purchase a nationally advertised, featured sales item only to be told to come back a different day. I asked when they would be getting more---- the reply-- " Don't know" I explained how frustrating this was to me--the reply-- "call before you come here" My reply-- " how about carrying the item that you advertise" The entire work force should attend a customer service seminar read more

As others have said, " you get what you pay for" and yes it's almost all imported from China or India, but then again most of our name brand stuff comes from China these days as well. To a certain extent, i believe that Harbor has figured out that having most of there products house label seems to work quite well, i suspect that the manufacturers in China and elsewhere want to get the contracts to produce for Harbor,since they are a high volume seller. I'm guessing that this probably causes Harbors producers to pay a little more attention to quality control. I mean, we all know what problems Chinese made goods are known for, but I'm guessing that among those manufacturers, there are better and worse ones. Ive bought a lot of stuff at Harbor Freight over the years, so far I've only had one item that was defective out of the box, and the couple things that I've managed to break, like drill bits were due to my own error. The little 110v and 240v inverter welders are great, and the other stuff I've bought has exceeded my expectations when you consider the price paid. When I go there, if I've got a question I look for an older gentleman who I've seen working there for years, he's probably in his late 50's or so, and he seems like the hardest working, most knowledgeable guy there. It says something about the current work ethic that the oldest guy there works harder than his younger associates. And, yes the long lines at check out need to be addressed, far too frequently the wait is excessive. read more
