Best location I have been to in terms of service and personal engagement. I was attempting to get a rolling cart box. It was fairly heavy and the color i wanted was (of course) near the bottom of the stack. A staff saw me struggling with moving the boxes and advised me to just tell them the color that I wanted to purchase and they would take care of it. After purchasing the cart, they said to pull up my car and they would help me load it up. I am coming to this location for now on even though it is a little farther than the one I usually go to. read more

The person working the east register on Sunday 10/26/2025 has the patience of a saint. Two low-functioning adults were trying to return a cordless drill/driver because "it didn't fit the bits" they wanted to use. The cashier spent a good 30 minutes trying to explain to them that the chuck was adjustable and could be tightened or loosened in order to fit any bit up to 1/2". Try as he might, he couldn't get through to these two Neanderthals, who were confident they bought the wrong tool and needed something else. I would have just taken the return and told the customers that they shouldn't try to use any tool more complex than a rock. read more

I wanted to buy batteries and was looking for some good deals. And this store pop up online and it is not far from my house. So, I just gave a try. It is right next to the waggly store, little difficult to see from the outside. Parking was not a problem. A guy was standing at the front door and asking the customers what they are looking for. He was guiding the customers which aisle and all other stuff. The employees were very friendly and helpful. They have good knowledge of their products. According to my friend, this place always have blowout sales. The day we came here was no exception. There was plenty of parking and outside was a tent with a bunch if items that were on sale. It was the same stuff in the store. My friend came here to buy some car gear like a floor jack and other stuff that were all on sale. This place had everything you could think of and I overheard one of the employees (he looked like the manager) that was nice to help another customer and told them that Home Depot down in the same plaza had what they were looking for since Harbor Freight Tools didn't have it. The worst location I have ever visited. The employees here are down right rude and have no idea what customer service even means. Worst experience ever. I came in there to return an item that I had literally bought a few hours before because it did not work and I got 50+ questions by the manager there of why I was returning. The lady behind the counter said she hates her job and lots of people are quitting because the management is so awful. The Customer is Always Right. Surprised I never wrote a review about this place. Had a pretty bad experience today. Writing this for management visibility. Per yelp guidelines I can't specifically call out the employee, but I will give a clue. In the World Wrestling Federation of the 80's, there was a wrestler that went by the name of "**** The Snake Roberts" I've been needing to repower my roto tiller for the last few weeks, and due to Covid they've been out of stock on the 212cc engine. I was clued in they'd receive shipment today, called the shop, it was in stock so I headed down there. On the website for HF tools, there's a coupon code that drops the price of the engine down to $99. I left my phone at home, but I thought the cashier would be decent enough to look it up for me. After explaining the situation and asking if he could look it up. Cashier: "You have to have the code with you at the store" Me: "Dude, I'm just asking you to look it up on your phone, not a big deal!" Cashier: "Nope, we can't per policy" Me: "So you're going to make me drive back home to get my phone?" Cashier: "I'm not going to make you do anything" At that response, I told him it was time to get a manager, who very nicely pulled out her phone, looked up the item, and got my coupon dropping the price from $120 to $109. Cashier started trying to upsell me on extended warranty, etc. What he should have done was asked the manager, "Hey is it OK if we look it up on our own phone?" and maybe a "Sir I apologize, next time I promise I'll look it up for you" but instead I got a bunch of lip service on how I can't bring it back without the receipt, gas tank empty, a bunch of things I've heard before. They are really rude at this location. Came in for a couple replacements parts. Walked around the store and I couldn't find what I was looking for. I always try to find the itea a my self before I ask for help. Irene was near where I was looking so I asked her if I could ask her a question and said "I need to help the register" and walked away. I walked by the register and there was only two people in line. I ended up finding the item on my own. Then I went to pay and who other then Irene was there to ring me up. This is feedback and suggestions and I not only found it true here but other retailers (auto supply). If I were rating one store, the Blossom Hill one with the gentleman who was working the register when I walked in to pickup an item on hold for me (after I did the phone call around to see if they REALLY have the tool) went the extra mile for me when I told him he was the 3rd Harbor Freight I'd been to in a day. So they get a 4star because all of these stores could use improvement. Story/King store showed nearest to me, a close 2nd was Santa Clara store on Steven's Creek off Lawrence Expwy. I'm coming from the middle of those two stores (Willow Glen area) and ended up getting the right thing in South SJ so I did a complete triangle to get this tool. Here's what Story/King told me, "no we don't have it, not on the shelf and not in the back. Yeah our numbers online really shouldn't be believed. And you should always call and ask to do an actual on hand check. Our inventory (computer) is messed up but we're doing inventory today but I'd still always call". Ok, maybe I'm old school but there's a lot of things in that explanation I wouldn't say, and a lot of things I would say to be a little more empathetic to the drive the customer just made and the fact I'm going to send them elsewhere. I had to ask them to look in their computer and tell me what store showed the most in stock. And then I would have called the store for the customer and put it on hold in their name with my associate. But I guess that kind of customer service is "old school"....too bad. They therefore get a 2star. I get to the Santa Clara store and the cashier calls to the back because I show here that this (pointing to my phone with the SKU #) is not at Story/King, they sent me here...so she's on the phone to them and the cashier at the other register tells that one to help the next person, I look over at her and she flashes me a look that in my book looked like "too bad, step aside". (Like the post office does to you when you're not ready and filling out your label). Of course the man behind me had to be a longer transaction, meanwhile the back stock person comes out with my item and instead of saying anything, I take it out of their hand as someone they knew came through the door and they started hugging, obviously a friend.....but not a word to me, "here you go miss, sorry it took so long" Not a thing. Does the other cashier stagger and start taking people alternately in two lines to accommodate me who just drove across town due to their internet inventory? No, that move pissed me off more than anything because it was like I was the one who was inconveniencing them. Did that other cashier usher me over when I now was waiting to pay for what they just brought up? Of course not, she was not going to be nice, accommodating, or anything, or interrupt her line even though she obviously had the authority to tell someone how to run theirs. I can imagine if I moved over to her line expecting to be handled next. They are a team when cashiers are all up front. She ordered someone else to stop helping me and I get that from an efficiency standpoint but you also say a few words like "I'll have you jump back in as soon as stockroom brings the item up front" or "does anyone going to pay cash?" and squeeze a quicker person in if you're going to do that. There's a few things they could all do better at that store and customer service and knowing what to do in these situations should be one of them, because if you're never going to invest in getting your online inventory quantities accurate, then at least train your people how to be customer service, but don't be bad at both. That's just irritating and leads me to take my time to write this novel on how bad you are. They therefore get a 2star. BTW, when I called them to ask about another similar wrench, after that experience, I called before I believe anyone anymore and get in the car and waste the gas....online inventory showed Blossom Hill as having 0 because it didn't even appear. Let me tell you, in general not showing up at all or showing a few, better call bcuz that's why I'm writing this at all. So when on the phone ready to go get another tool the same day I called both Story/King and Santa Clara. Neither of them had the new tool I was looking for but they both appeared online as having it. I asked them to look at the Blossom Hill store and they said they have 3....remember, online said 0.....they had 1 and I had it put on hold for me, and I will always go back to that store now because of that gentleman who rang me up and was just actually caring when he heard it was my 3rd trip to Harbor Freight that day. He said always come to this store. And you know what I will. I'm sorry I didn't get your name to give you a shout out. You deserve good customer service award. If you aren't already familiar with Harbor Freight via their catalogs, this is a must visit location. It's fun to look at all of the weird, cool, fun stuff. I love tools . When I found out there was a Harbor Freight Tools.in San Jose , I had to check it out. So I jumped into my Work Whip Big Ken and rolled to San Jose and Harbor Freight Tools . When I arrived there it was a Huge Location with a Big Parking lot . This is where I parked my Work Whip Big Ken. I strolled in to Harbor Freight and was impressed . It is one of the Biggest Harbor Freight locations I have been too. Anybody that knows me, knows that I love and collect tools preferably Craftsman and Snap On . But I like Harbor Freight Tools for the Gadgets and Odd Tools that they have . Including the Free Coupon Specials!!! I also like to browse there ,they have some weird tools there LOL.. This place does not have a typical store front, just a door. It is right behind the Burger King on Blossom Hill Road across from Oakridge Mall. If your a typical handyman around the home and use certain tools a few times a year, the probably do not need 'contractor' grade tools or equipment. If your not stuck on high end equipment, this is the place for you. You can pick up many tools, equipment and misc items for 1/2 of the price of name brand items which is a total value IMO. If your really handy around the house and pretty good with hand and power tools, you'll feel like a kid in a candy store. A value example would be a small air compressor for $37 and a 17 piece accessory kit for $6. (No need for those gas station air compressors now). I spoke with one of the workers there and she mentioned that this location is much better than the Stevens Creek location because this location doesn't have 'stock' issues. She mentioned that she worked at the Steven's location for a year and liked this one better. This place is for tools, it is not a replacement for OSH, HD or Lowes as they are hardware stores. What you get here is decent quality Chinese tools and hardware. I did not see any total garbage, which you do find in some places. But you also don't find any higher quality stuff, for which you will have to go to Home Depot, Lowes, Orchard, etc. Here's what I mean: You can buy a screwdriver set, pliers set or socket set here for under $5. They will work, the handles will not crack, and they will not strip immediately on first use. However, you will not find a tool that will last you for years of hard use. For this, you must go elsewhere and pay more. I recently needed a hammer drill to sink 20 screws into concrete. For $50 I got a massive heavy duty drill here that looks like a mini jack hammer. It drills through concrete like butter, and even includes a chisel bit for demolition. It was half the price of lower-power, name brand tool. Given that I will use it once per year, this was the perfect tool for me. I looked at small furniture dollies here today. They were inexpensive and decently made, but all of them had hard plastic wheels that can scratch floors. I elected to go elsewhere and pay more for dollies with softer rubber-type wheels. read more

So I went back to the store to exchange it, I was told no exchanges without a receipt. I bought it over a month ago, I don't have the receipt anymore.
