I waited a few minutes before finding someone to assist with finding 1/2' stock in the back but he ended up finding one right in the aisle (in another brand section). There was a sweet dog there I was able to pet too. Yay for dog friendly stores! Upon self checkout there's no barcode to scan nuts and bolts so the kind woman manning the self checkout entered them quickly for us and we were on our way! Brad, who is the owner, came out, picked them up and took them to the shop for repair. They needed new screens and new wheels. He sent the estimate almost immediately, and it was very reasonable. The screens were delivered back & installed in two weeks and they look & work amazing! He fastidiously fine-tuned them, spraying the tracks with silicone to make sure they slid easily. Today, I visited the store to return two unopened items I had received as a housewarming gift. As I…read moreapproached the checkout line, the cashier--an assistant manager (older woman, name unknown)--was immediately dismissive, saying only "Come on" instead of greeting me politely. I explained that the items were purchased online for in-store pickup, and I had both the order number and the emailed receipt from my friend. She stated that online purchases could not be returned in-store, which is incorrect. According to Ace Hardware's own return policy: "We recommend that you make returns of online purchases to an Ace retail store near you that can issue you a refund (less applicable shipping, handling, and other charges)." Her tone and demeanor were unprofessional and gave the impression that she did not want to assist customers. I later returned to the store and spoke with Jesse, who was polite, knowledgeable, and promptly processed the return without issue. The assistant manager should be familiar with the company's return policy and provide courteous service to customers.
