Amazing service and communication, needed a new pool pump and fast, dealt with Craig who thoroughly explained everything to me and offered two options to replace the pump explaining the first option may not be the best, but is less expensive. I tried to be cheap and took the first option and was not pleased with the pumps performance. I let them know and there was zero debate or ill feelings, in fact a larger pump was delivered within 30 minutes and installed immediately. You find out how good a companies service is when you run into problems, as you can see here Pinch-a-Penny went above and beyond and I could not be more happy. They had the pump installed before I even got a quote from a competitor. This was my to go store. Very good service, and always the right answer. Not anymore. I have a problem with a pool light that were installed by them. After 2 weeks of putting the work order, nothing happened. I went to the store and asked what was going on and I was told that they had other urgent stuff to take care, that maybe in 2 weeks they would take care of my pool light. We have been using them for 5 years. Not once have we had an issue with the pool color, clarity. They show up weekly, brush the pool, put in the vacuum cleaner, check the chemicals and add chemicals as needed. When you pay $110 a month to have your pool serviced you expect to have a crystal clear pool. Mine wasn't, it was green and this was the second time this happened. When we go to check the chlorine tabs by the filters, because that was the problem last time, there was none, it was empty. So we put two in the tube, sweep it out, and by the time I was done, the water is crystal clear. Chlorine tabs are suppose to be part of what we are paying for! When I call them to complain and shut down my service he wanted to tell me it was because of the time of year and all the rain we get, so make excuses. No, it's because the people you hire do a half ass job and don't care! At least he's give us back 3 weeks of payment. Time to find a new pool service company. read more

After five years as a customer the manager Craig hired inexperienced people. In June 24 I was told I had a air leak and was charged over $200 no invoice or breakdown provided. Again a couple months ago I called to report the waterfall was not working and he said I was due for a filter cleaning. Now in November he took $296 out of my checking account ($130 monthly fee) without explaining anything again no invoice. Could it be the first repair wasn't done correctly? And I was charged again? When I called to say this was not acceptable business practice he advised this was from a couple months ago and said his regular staff didn't know what was wrong so he has to send his managers out to keep fixing air leaks and they really don't want to "fix" things only service pools. When asked why he doesn't give me invoices he stated there is no email on record but he has a mailing address? He also had an incorrect phone number on file he never bothered to update and we have spoken many times. I still have never got the two invoices for the hours and service he claimed took place. No one ever knocked on my door to say they were there and I have no proof anything was done or how long they were there. Then proceeded to tell me he'd make it right. But got angry and said to find another company to service my pool. He also threatened to come take a part back that I wasn't even told had been put in. I said how am I supposed to know anything about pool repair when I'm a regular civilian woman? That's why you are supposed to explain and educate people. When I asked if there is a corporate office he said there is a franchise headquarters in Clearwater. I asked for a contact name and number he told me to Google it myself and hung up the phone. The franchise office said individual owners can run their business how they want. They said they would call him to have him refund my monthly fee portion and get the two invoices for me. Not only did he have the audacity to withhold a week out of the monthly see and refund only $97 he never sent the invoices. He took the money out the first of the month. I called on Nov 5th a Tues and my regular visit is on Wed. Again there is no proof someone came and due to his exposed lack of character I feel he kept the first week to spite me. He only refunded $97 instead of the $130. This man uses illegal business practices when it suits him but you will never know until you confront him and ask for specific information. I will be filing a complaint with the DPBR next. And BBB if he is a member. I will also dispute the charge through Regulation E. Customers beware. This is not a good business owner, and he is a shady man. Instead of making things right he'll just get rid of you and leave you with the inconvenience of finding another pool service. This man lacks professional business standards, integrity, morales, values and certainly doesn't believe in doing the right thing for his customers. We are pool novices and her concern and over the phone assistance were invaluable. We scheduled a 'pool school' with Wayne, her husband and his knowledge and recommendations have helped us tremendously. As it turns out the system we inherited needs a fair amount of work but we feel confident laying the work in their hands. This is an honest, locally owned franchise. As a new pool owner, I have a lot to learn and they are always helpful whenever I go in there. I have gone in several times, thinking I would need to replace something and they have given me their professional opinion even if it means they don't make the sale, which is usually the case. When I do need to replace something or get something repaired, they are honest about the cost and the best value for me, again at the expense of their profit margins. I have no issue spending money with them when it is needed since I can rely on their commitment and customer service. I continue to believe this place has the best customer service. Wayne the owner and his team do everything they can to make your visit a positive one. They greet you at the door, they take whatever items you need filled and immediately assist you. If they cannot get right to you they apologize but at least acknowledge you re there wailing. They always carry your filled jigs of chlorine to your car for you even in the worst inclement weather as occurred for me just the other day. I have been coming to this store since we had our pool installed. The prices are competitive but what sets this store apart from the other stores we 1st looked at was the Owner/ Staff!! Wayne (owner) will explain everything to you and literally baby step it and walk you through how to's! He has answered a ton of questions for me and demonstrated how to do the maintenance needed. ALL employees I ask questions or opinions of walk me through how and where to pour DT powder, clean salt cell, adding muratic acid, salt and literally every other question I have asked! Recently I had my water tested (FREE) and it needed some love, they told me what to add and then instead of "over selling", they mentioned I give it a couple days and come back to have it tested again to see if it has leveled out. We have purchased a Heater from them that was PERFECT for our pool size and we could not be happier with this store, Wayne and ENTIRE staff! Also, they are pet friendly so even though my dog hates the pool, she loves shopping here! read more

Wow, this was a complete turnaround and I am now happy to say that they not only contacted us immediately upon hearing our concerns, but we also saw visits from Wayne and one of their technicians, who worked with the manufacturer to fix the problem under warranty, all with the span of a few days.
