What a great experience!!! 15 racks of ribs, a whole dish of smoked chicken, and a whole dish of baked beans. Woodpile rolled in hot food and set it up on our table, and it was awesome! There were rants and raves about the taste - I cooked 3, 7# Standing Rib Roast on the grill and the Woodpile was just as good, and just as popular!

I ordered a Pitt master platter which contains pulled pork, pulled chicken, brisket, cheddar jalapeno sausage, ribs, two 6oz sides. This seemed like it would be a lot of food and perfect for us to sample things and find our favorites. For the price I was expecting the portion size to be slightly larger. A little disappointed there. The flavors of everything were actually quite nice. I don't appreciate breadcrumbs on my Mac and cheese!! I didn't see that it came that way or I certainly would have requested they not disrespect my side dish with that. The sauce they provided did not come on the meat but on the side. I like that it's done that way. The meat is smoked nicely and the flavors really came through with no sauce. We tried their sweet sauce and I liked it. Overall very nice dinner and I would try them again... minus the breadcrumbs

The staff of both establishments are friendly and polite. I recommend going on a Wednesday, which is when BBQ tacos are a special. I've tried 3 of those, most of the meats, and all the sides. The tacos I've had are beef brisket, pig belly burnt ends, and pulled pork. Of those, the burnt ends taco was the best, but all 3 were great. If you came here just for the tacos, I wouldn't blame you at all. As for the meats, I truthfully don't have a favorite, because they were all that good. The ribs were juicy and tender. The brisket looked and tasted just right. I didn't even need a knife to cut it. The meatloaf was unlike any I've ever had. It was incredibly tender and had a great, smoky flavor. Although pastrami is beef, it tasted like a very well seasoned ham. Most places I've gotten burnt ends from dry them out, but that is not the case here whatsoever. The pulled pork was standard compared to the rest of the meats, but still better than average. None of the sides disappoint. The beans appear runny, but were delicious. The mac had a generous amount of cheese, and wasn't dry either. I've only had collard greens a couple times, but I found it enjoyable. The potatoes were delightful, but what took them to the next level was the toum it was served with. Toum is a Lebanese garlic sauce. The slaw was creamy and flavorful. Blueberry cornbread is something I've never seen on a BBQ menu before. Both that and the pickles tasted as they were advertised. Smoked Lotus blew me away, and I'll even go as far as saying it's my new favorite, local spot for BBQ. Even the pricing is fair, especially for the quality you're getting. If you love BBQ and haven't been here yet, you're missing out.

Everyone happily noshing on huge portions at a reasonable price. The brisket is the best of the bunch. Smoky, tender and even juicy. I could eat this brisket all damn day. No need for sauce but the sauce was nice. The ribs were meaty St. Louis cut. Big and lean. Nice clean bite, no tug. The meat really got a good kiss of smoke, so again no need for sauce but sauce still available and tasty. The pulled pork was good. Bark in the mix, which is always a treat. Not mushy a bit but not stringy either. This one is better with sauce imo so you may want to ask for extra. The mac and cheese is the only clunker here. I am not a huge Mac and cheese person but when I like it, I love it. This was meh. Bland. It comes with a plate but I wish there were other options. Any other option. I saved the cornbread for last. The best damn cornbread I've ever had. Period. OMG. This was the happiest surprise. Moist, a bit sweet and just melt in your mouth pure damn delightful. I will seek this truck out. If you see it, you must try it!

We had reservation for 8 people at 6:00 on a Sunday night. Our table wasn't ready, perhaps because of a concert going on at the park across the street; The staff seemed pretty focused on the carry-out orders. We waited about 10 minutes for our table to be ready. Everyone got combinations of some sort. I ordered brisket ($2 upcharge) and ribs, the Loretta salad (upcharge of $3 for their house salad!) and garlic mashed potatoes. It took quite a while to be served, again, probably because of the concert. My salad came out first. Despite the fact that it had lettuce, cabbage and parmesan cheese, it had absolutely no flavor. Zero. I couldn't even make out the taste of the oil & vinegar. All it was was crunch. Our entrees were served in two batches, with about 5-10 minutes between the first group and the second group. Honestly, don't restaurants know that they're supposed to serve everyone at the same time? It's annoying and unprofessional when they stagger it. I was really looking forward to the ribs. Alas, they were way too salty, even with scraping them off and pouring sauce on them. Likewise, the garlic mashed potatoes were both too salty AND too garlicky. The only thing that I thought WAS good was the brisket. And the bread -- that was supposed to come with the meals but which we had to ask for -- was somehow satisfying, even though it was just packaged white bread. (The waiter said that most people don't like it so he doesn't bother to bring it.) Maybe it tasted good in comparison to all of the salty stuff. Sadly, I was very disappointed, and I can't see myself going back.

Yes, cooking over charcoal does sometimes create that bark on one side of the meat but i love it. This place has had me in a chokehold for the past month, with me driving 30 mins each way to eat. I love it. I am a large end kind of guy and this place is the best i've had with only Vicky's coming in second. Once, the ribs were fatty but i doin't care. Every other time, they were delicious. Regarding the sides... This is where most BBQ joints struggle. The Coleslaw and potato salad are either off a Sysco truck or similar to Kroger prepared food. The green beans kind of remind me of the green beans you'd get if the church had a bbq dinner sale... not bad. The baked beans... not the best. When i order, i usually have some macaroni made at home and i always have a bag of cooked greens in the freezer. I live solo so i will make food, freeze it and have it along side their meat. I did not like the greens there but the potato salad and slaw, for what it is; unless you're going to be making it... boiling and peeling potatoes...dicing celery and belle pepper, this works :) I love this place AND the girls working are always EXTREMEMLY friendly. I always tip them- even though they never seem to expect it. I love this place and pray they never change.

I had been yearning for rib tips and found this local spot here on Yelp that I hadn't visited. The small seating area in the lobby was decent. There was no menu posted but small flyers were available. The man at the counter was a sweetie, he was pleasant and accommodating. I ordered a rib tip dinner, with meat, macaroni and cheese, and turnip greens. I also ordered cake, that I didn't receive. Not sure if I paid for it or not, because I didn't look at the prices. Anyway, onto my carryout meal... The tips were very flavorful, I really enjoyed the sauce, and I'm not really a BBQ sauce girl. I usually like grilled meat plain. The tips were unusually sized, therefore some were cooked right while others were crisply overdone or unedibly chewy. The macaroni was good, although I didn't receive any of the top cheesy layer. The turnip greens didn't taste like turnips and were also chewy. I'd definitely recommend others trying them. They were very professional and the food had good flavor. While there, there was a steady flow of customers. If I go again, I will check to make sure my cake is in the bag; and try some of the things I overheard that were popular with customers. Parking is available on busy 7 Mile, which can be challenging, but, it was easy to park and go on this section of the street.
